Pass infomation between different views and controllers
Hi, I am a rails and ruby nuby :-)
How do you pass data between different controllers and views? I have a
page ( a quote) that I am editing url ....quote/edit/6 6 id the
current id. I then go to a catalog (url....catalog) to add an item to
my quote (I do this via a line_item file that the quote reads) I now
want to go back to the quote. I have tried this

re sultant column names from reshape::cast, with a fun.aggregate vector
try this:
scores.melt = data.frame(grade = floor(runif(100, 1,10)), variable =
'score', value = rnorm(100));
cast(scores.melt, grade ~ variable, fun.aggregate = c(mean, length))

Why my lapply doesn't work with FUN=as.Date
Hi, guys
I don't understand why I can apply as.Date to a single item in the list:
> as.Date(alldays[4])

but when I try to lapply as.Date to all the items, i got a sequence of neg
numbers:

Creating An Extra Association Between Two Tables
Good Friday Everyone :-).
These are my models:
Problem -> has_and_belongs_to_many :tags
Tag -> has_and_belongs_to_many :problems
Now if a tag does not exist and I create it and associate it to the
problem it works
self.tags << Tag.create(:name => tag)
But if I have the tag already in the DB and just want to link it to
another problem it does not really like me. I do it

render_to_string in a model ?
I have a batch job that will call script/runner, I would like in this
call to create html formated email and save it to the database. This is
easy enough in a controller with
yournewhost.email = render_to_string :action => "email_newhost_ready",
:layout => false
But render_to_string is only available in controller action pack, is
there a easy way to render_to_string in a Model? Or

Installing R into home directory?
I've been trying to install R into a user's home directory for them by compiling from source code, on a machine for which neither of us has administrative access. I've run configure using the --prefix option to specify their home directory.
This seems to work OK up to a point, but when running make, it seems to expect to be able to install IDL into /usr/local/, and if you are unable

refer to next line within a data-frame an select cases
Hi,
I have a problem sorting and selecting entries within a data-frame and
I don't know if it is possible to solve it with R ... (probably yes,
but I have no idea how).
Following Data;

neg NA
a 5
neg NA
a 11
pos NA
I want to extract the values in row 2 in the lines with an "a" in row1.

Goodness of fit to Poisson / NegBinomial
All,
I have some data on parasites on apple leaves and want to do a
goodness of fit test to a Poisson distribution. This seems to
do it:
mites <- c(rep(0,70),
rep(1,38),
rep(2,17),
rep(3,10),
rep(4,9),
rep(5,3),
rep(6,2),
rep(7,1))
tab <- table(mites)
NSU <- length(mites)

ltext - adding text to each panel from a matrix
Hi all (really probably just Deepayan):
In the plot below I want to add text on either side of each violin plot that
indicates the number of observations that are either positive or negative.
I'm trying to do this with ltext() and I've also monkeyed about with
panel.text(). The code below is generally what I want but my calls to
ltext() are wrong and I'm not sure how to fix them.

[LLVMdev] How doesn't llvm generate IR for logical negate operation
How can I generate LLVM IR for both logical NEG (!)? For example, if I have
Int32Ty a,
For the bitwise NEG(~):
c = ~a ;
I can use the following API from LLVM:
BinaryOperator *neg = BinaryOperator::CreateNeg(nbits, "bitwiseNEG",
insertBefore);
How, if I want to generate logical NEG:
c = !a;
what should I do for this?
Thanks

need palette of topographic colors similar to topo.colors()
Dear useRs,
I got stuck trying to generate a palette of topographic colors that
would satisfy these two requirements:
- the pallete must be 'anchored' at 0 (just like on a map), with
light blue/lawn green corresponding to data values close to 0 (dark
blue to light blue for negative values, green-yellow-brown for
positive values)
- the brown must get darker for higher positive

geom_edge & color
Dear community
I am using ggraph to plot a network analysis. See part 2 in the working
example.
Besides different colors for different groups of nodes:
--> geom_node_point(aes(size = V(network)$hub_score*200, color=
as.factor(V(network)$community)))
I additionally want to consider different colors for different edge groups
The grouping is defined in the edge_list$relationship: negative

[LLVMdev] How doesn't llvm generate IR for logical negate operation
Thanks, Bruce. So, what is the easiest way to check if there is any bit set
to 1 in a <N x i1> vector type? I used bitcast instruction to cast it into
"iN" first and them compare iN to 0. Do you have a better way to do it?
Thanks again.
