xl and vifname
Hello,
While using xen 4.1-testing.hg (r23202) I noticed that the ''vifname''
config value is not handled by xl, but is handled by xm. Is there a
workaround or patch for this? My firewall and scripts depend on static
vifnames.
XM works good - it adds multiple interfaces to multiple bridges and
configures them appropriately. But with xl it differs -- here only tap

Bug#658305: Prevent silently failing on duplicate vifname
Package: xen-utils-common
Version: 4.1.2-3
Severity: normal
When configurating a duplicate custom vifname for interfaces in the Xen
dom0 that are added to a bridge (which is obviously a configuration
error), the hotplug scripts fail silently to rename the new vifX.0 to
the custom vifname, if it's already existing.
The result of this, is that the domU will start normally, but no network

Interfaces stick around now on domain restart?
Hi,
I've just begun putting xen domains on an etch dom0 (my other
servers being sarge with backports at this time). I've noticed that
when a domain is restarted or shut down, SNMP believes that the
interface is still there and a new interface with the same name has
been created.
For example, on an snmpwalk:

howto force shutdown if nut-snmp Communications lost
Hallo,
I have one ups with snmp and any ups without snmp.
Shutdown works while network online.
But some batteries are empty, so that the communication break early.
Howto force shutdown if nut-snmp Communications lost?
My 1. suggestion was option DEADTIME, but seem to be information only. (s. below)
Any suggestions?
The last way would be a ugly cronjob (like: ping || shutdown).
regards Heiko

SNMP problems
Dear All,
I don't know if this is the right list for this type of question and I
am sure I will be told if its not....
I am using Centos 3.3, with a 2.4.20-30.9 kernel on an Amd Opteron box.
I am using this kernel because
it has matching freeswan modules.
I am also using the following net-snmp packages:
net-snmp-5.0.9-2.30E.6
net-snmp-devel-5.0.9-2.30E.6
net-snmp-utils-5.0.9-2.30E.6

Xen PV domU reported as Xen-HVM
Hello,
I am running two dom0s, one on CentOS 5 with Xen 4.1.2 (from Gitco) and the
other one on CentOS 6 with Xen 4.2.4 (from Xen4CentOS). I host one LVM
based domU on both from the same template (CentOS 6 PV) with the same Xen
config (see below). However, the domU on Xen 4.1 reports itself as Xen PV
while the domU on Xen4CentOS reports itself as Xen HVM.

A strange problem about type i64 for LLVM
Hi Tim Northover,
I just use Mac OS X, Intel Core i5. 'retValue' is initialized, computed,
and then returned from 'myFunction', so I think this problem is not
introduced by uninitialized value. In addition, '306205760' is not
a meaningless value, but the result of truncating '140583176769504' to 32
bits.
Actually, I instrumented some call instructions for value

snmp values for interface traffic - Centos 3.5/x86_64
Is there a problem with the values returned from snmp for ethx interface
traffic on x86_64? I have cacti graphing several servers that should
peak around 200k/s and it sometimes pegs at 100M for periods of time
when in fact the interfaces are not busy at all. I did a 'yum update'
and rebooted, and things cleared up for a while, but now at least one
is going crazy again, so perhaps the

Xen networking experiment (with custom scripts and OpenVSwitch)
Hello everyone,
Recently I have been testing my customized Xen 4.2 networking setup. It
works pretty good and I would like to share it with anyone who is
interested.
The relevant files can be found here:
https://github.com/slacks42/xenscripts
Benefit: configure the Xen related networking devices with one
understandable bash script.
Please note that this is all still work in progress. For

max filename length
I'm having some weird problems with filename lengths. Here are the
symptoms:
- I can not rename a file from explorer to have more than 127 characters.
After typing in a filename, it prompts me with the "are you sure you want
to change the extension" dialog. It gets truncated to 127 characters, and
doesn't have an extension. The filename shows up from a UNIX shell having

PVonHVM, Networking and xentop
All,
I have a domU running Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS 64bit using PVonHVM which is working well but I noticed a quirk and just wanted to check it wasn''t just my misunderstanding. On my dom0 (Arch Linux, 64bit, AMD Phenom 2 X4 965 CPU, Xen 4.2.0 from my own PKGBUILD) I run "xl top" and xentop loads and shows all the currently running domains; only none of the domains have anything

XEN 3.2.0 default bridge changed ?
Hello !
I yesterday updated one server to XEN 3.2 which was running 3.1.2 before.
The default bridge setup stopped working (Guests network packets were
not forwarded to physical ethernet connection on eth0)
My bridge setup looked like this:
