domU custom kernel: Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.
Hello, To compile a custom kernel, I downloaded 2.6.29.1 from kernel.org and followed the tutorial at: http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/Kernel.org_Linux_on_Xen Used a supposedly working .config file for the compilation (generated by my provider to compile his xenU kernels), set /dev/xvd* device nodes both in the domU conf file (disk, root): disk = [

ISOLINUX: Mounting devfs on /mnt/dev failed
Hi, I am trying to boot from an external USB hard drive (partition 1: Windows, partition 2: primary/bootable ext3). I took the kernel-image-2.6.8-1-368.deb and created a new initrd with all modules, root=/dev/sda2 and Busybox (mkinitrd failed with my own kernel ;-) isolinux.cfg contains: PROMPT 1 DEFAULT sda2 LABEL sda1 KERNEL vmlinuz APPEND initrd=initrd ramdisk=16432k root=/dev/sda1

EXTLinux freezing up
I just now finally got around to redoing my grandmother's harddrive -- moving everything from a NTFS partition to FAT32 so I could set up rescue discs, be able to make repairs, and other such things that would then be able to safely write data to her primary partition. My resulting setup was a three partition drive with the first partition being a ~256MB EXT2 partition for boot files, the

Debian Sarge Root Raid + LVM + XEN install guide (LONG)
Hello fellow xenophiles and happy new year! I''ve documented the install procedure for a prototype server here since I found no similar document Anywhere on the net. It''s a Sarge-based Domain0 on linux root raid from scratch, using LVM to store the data for the domU mail server and its mailstore. I humbly submit my notes in the hope that they are useful to some weary traveller.

Kernel Panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
Hello Xen users, I tried to install Xen 3.1.0 on Scientific Linux (RHEL4), but this mission failed.. Hope you can help me by finding the reason for my problem. I downloaded the xen sources from http://bits.xensource.com/oss-xen/release/3.1.0/src.tgz/xen-3.1.0-src.tgz and compiled them by running "make" and "./install.sh". This seemed to work. From LiveCD, mount hda1 gives resource busy
Hello: I booted from the CentOS 4.4 CD. I am trying to mount the partitions on the hard drive of the physical machine (Fedora Core). I did: mkdir /mnt/hda1 chmod 755 /mnt/hda1 mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/hda1 I get back: mount: /dev/hda1 already mounted or /mnt/hda1 busy I checked with df. I don't see hda1 anywhere. Any ideas what is wrong? Thanks, Neil -- Neil Aggarwal, (214)986-3533,

Seriously corrupt ext3 root filesystem - help?
I just came back after being out for the evening. Apparently there was a power failure long enough to discharge the UPS completely on my Linux box. After powering back up, I received notice that the / filesystem needed "manual fsck"ing. I booted off CD and attempted to fsck. Unfortunately, everything I've tried has proved futile and I'm _desperate_ for some help. I've

(Solved) Re: How to configure omega.cgi to search multiple flint dbs?
Folks, OK found it, omega.cc looks for multiple DB definitions and adds it to the search list. If the dbs are only one directory lower (e.g. not in default as in beta/default, but only "beta"), then modifying database_dir setting as follows will work: database_dir /svr/hda1/xapian then, ./omega.cgi 'P=pda' FMT='xml' DB="beta" DB="gamma"

Problem with reboot of domU''s
I have been playing with Xen 3.0.1 for some days now, using debian sarge for dom0 and domU''s, and it works like a charm. But, I have a problem with rebooting domU''s. RE: [OT] Re: Getting ext3 up and running
I referred to the entry rootfs / rootfs rw 0 0 in the output of "cat /proc/mounts", that is not really very much explicative, due to the setting "auto" in /etc/fstab and to the fact that file system had has_journal flag and no ext3 module was mounted. But I was wrong: I think that if you have an ext3 fs and you mount it as ext2, you continue to see the has_journal flag with

Wine err: dosfs:DRIVE_ReadSuperblock The Filesystem is not FAT !!
Hi folks, I've been trying to get WINE to run on my new mandrake 8.0 box for _four_ _months_. Every version of WINE gives me: err:dosfs:DRIVE_ReadSuperblock The filesystem is not FAT !! (device=/dev/hda1) when I try to run an app that opens/closes files (e.g. notepad.exe). Software that doesn't use files runs fine (calc.exe) I can read/write to the partition /dev/hda1 just fine...

Hi everyone! I came across a problem when I used xm create to create a domainU on my machine. I installed xen-3.0.4 on my computer, running Fedora 6, kernel version is 2.6.18-1.2798.fc. extlinux and block loopbacks
Hello-- I'm trying to use extlinux to make a bootable disk image, but I've hit a wall. I've got a partitioned hard disk image with one ext2 partition in it. I've mounted the partition through a block loopback device (/dev/loop1 on the host) and chrooted into it in order to run extlinux. Within the chroot environment, /etc/mtab says: /dev/hda1 / ext2 rw 0 0 ...and within the
