Xen PXE solution
Greetings.
I''ve been asked to work on a PXE solution for booting Xen domU''s from a
network, and would like some feedback and any help anyone is willing to
provide.
I''ve been limiting my work to HVM domU''s at the moment, because I don''t
think the NBI''s (as far as I know, these are bootloaders) that I have
available work in paravirtualized

[gpxelinux] How to use sanboot.c32 to attach a iscsi lun and then boot from CD
Hi,
I've been trying a couple of day now, but I can't seem to figure it out.
On www.etherboot.org, I found the example of configuring gPXE so that
it mounts an iSCSI lun and then boot from CDROM so you are able to
install on the LUN. But if I use gpxelinux.0 (latest release 3.73),
with sanboot.c32 like this:
label sanboot2008srv
menu label ^[iscsi] Windows server 2008

[PATCH node-image] add livecd-iso-to-iscsi script to support iscsi root booting setup
This enables the ability to take the ovirt-node-image iso and deploy it to an iscsi disk. It also provides a sample pxe configuration for booting based on the iscsi root device. Includes support for user/password as well as reverse chap user/password.

sanboot.c32 with gpxelinux 4.03
Hello All.
Yesterday I?m trying another ways but without luck.
Issue still exist ? Please help.
Is it possible to rewrite DHCP setting for sanboot.c32 after gpxelinux.0 load?
Will be nice to have this possibility because:
1. DHCP can be ?black box?.
2. DHCP admin not available.
3. PXE server rewrite dhcp setting.
I cannot boot from cdrom after pxe(gpxelinux.0) ? please help.

Dom0 on a NFSRoot Environment
Hi,
I''m using Xen for a few years, on diskless Intel servers. These servers boot
using PXE to an iSCSI remote disk, and works just fine.
Now I''m trying to do the same, but instead of using iscsi, I would like to
use the server booting in a NFS root.
The problem is that, after I boot the server and start Xen, when I try to
start a VM, it takes fron 60 to 180 seconds to start

xen hvmloader gpxe
I am testing several Operating System Streaming products to streams
virtual desktops.
They always requires pxe boot but xen seems to have a pxe which is not
suitable.
I got the same problem with kqemu and kvm and I solved it using gpxe.
With xen I tried to chainloading gpxe (following gpxe wiki) but
hvmloader fails to load it (memory problem?).
Any workaround

[XCP] iSCSI Install/Boot
I just ordered quite a few servers, and, without verifying ahead of time, ordered without hard drives planning to boot over iSCSI using the built-in network cards (NOT an iSCSI HBA). I''m wondering if anyone has tried (and hopefully succeeded) installing XCP to an iSCSI volume using a network card with iSCSI boot support and the software iSCSI initiator in XCP. Obviously I can order HDs

stateless dom0
Hello,
I''m trying to setup stateless dom0 host image.
The idea is to make dom0 host diskless booted off storage/pxe. What are
the best practices of making such a setup ?
I already tried nfs-root iscsi-root and aoe-root all these setups works
perfect, what about making xen running rootless I mean in ramdisk ?

domU''s crashing Dom0 (Xen + iSCS = timebomb)
I''m experimenting with xen + iscsi, and I founded that under heavy stress
domU''s can crash entire system, I''ve reproduced this many many times.
My system is like this
Software:
- iSCSI Enterprise Target v0.4.13
- RedHat AS4 update 4 64bit + Xen 3.0.3-0 Kernel 2.6.16.29 + Open iSCSI
v2.0.730 (Initiator)
- Bonnie++ v1.03a
VM:

Chain-loading from WDS to PXELinux on a different tftp server
Thanks for your email. Yes it does provide some insight into why I could hack a Linux DHCP server into providing enough PXE boot information for PXE 3 clients but PXE 2.1 were happy (ROMs under many circumstances need to use proxy dhcp 4011 - as documented by IBM on the link I shared earlier).
It appears only the most latest Dell business systems have EFI 64 support, and the best you can expect

menu.c32 is not a COM32R image
Hello !
I am completely new to syslinux.
I followed this instruction manually:
http://www.wonkity.com/~wblock/docs/html/pxe.html
I am on debian and do not have syslinux installed, but using
this debian box as a tftp server. I had to modify the instructions
given by the installation above. I downloaded the 6.02 version
and copied the files to the tftp root.
I am using dnsmasq as a tftp

PXE Boot Menu with iSCSI and AOE!
Dear developer,
I am working on a project for my graduate work (diploma), which includes iSCSI and AOE booting. I made some menus using pxelinux and things are working fine with linux, but I have a small problem with windows system which require direct iscsi or aoe access.
I have dhcpd.conf setup that it to each first dhcp request handles out pxelinux.0, then I can chooose from that menu which OS

Xen domU''s and iscsi initaitor problems.
Hello, I have been using Xen now for several months and have been
quite successful until attempting to utilize iscsi within my domU''s.
My research has turned up many posts of people using iscsi with no
problems, and I have found no others with the problem I seem to be
experiencing. If this has been covered on this list in the past,
please accept my humble apologies.

How to support iSCSI multipath...
Hi Bootmeisters,
I am using gpxelinux.0 + sanboot.c32 to boot a diskless machine into Linux. I
would like to use device-mapper-multipath to provide fault tolerant access to
its root disk.
Although I am able to do this by hardcoding the additional paths in the initrd,
it would be better if the bootloader could pass the information in the iBFT
(iSCSI Boot Firmware Table). However, at the

Diskless xen
Hello,
I want to implement a diskless xen hypervisor. The way I suppose it will work is xen booted over pxe and
getting iscsi san storage to store vm images.
Is solution like that usable ?

It is doable from dhcpd.conf, however when adding a node, one must do:
* add uuid entry to dhcpd.conf
* restart dhcp
It is not always desirable (or convinient) when managing

iSCSI connection corrupts Xen block devices.
Hi, hope the week has started out well for everyone.
This report may be in the FWIW department since there may be a
fundamental reason why this doesn''t work. We elected to report this
to the Xen community since we thought any behavior which corrupted
disk images needed to at least be reported.
We are maintaining the Xen-SAN release which provides hotplug
functionality to allow Xen
