How to add cdrom in linux guest
Hi all, I have installed SLES10 as a guest on a para-virtualized XEN 3.0.4. the host system is SLES10. Now I want to add a cdrom to the guest machine, when I do that by using "xm block-attach" it adds a new hard disk to the guest not a cdrom. Also I need to make the guest boot from cd. Note that above error is consistent on both 3.0.3

Dom0 versus DomU and sata DVD drives
I have couple question about using Xen in the "real" world. My test box is a Dell Optiplex 745 with a Core 2 processor and 4 G of RAM. I am using 64 bit Centos 5 with Xen 3.03. Right now I have it set up so Dom0 is my working domain and I add other DomU for whatever tests i need to do. From what I''ve read here, this is not the best way to do things. So my first question is,

Hi everybody, I seen many post on running Windows XP on the top of Xen with proper hardware (Intel Vt) ... I would like to know if at this time, i could do that with Xen 3.0.2-2 or Xen unstable ? If yes, could you tell me the procedure ... In 2 week i will make a show with Intel to demonstrate this possibility ... If at this time we couldn''t, i will change the contents of the show ;)

WinXP CD-ROM problems
I''m running Xen on RHEL5. I''ve got two problems with CD-ROMs. In my .hvm file, I''ve got the following line: disk = [ ''phy:/dev/VG_Guests/WinXP-001,ioemu:hda,w'', ''file:/opt/xen_stuff/winxp.iso,hdc:cdrom,w'', ''phy:/dev/scd0,hdd:cdrom,r'' ] The first CD-ROM, (the one linking to the file winxp.iso), appears to WinXP to

how can you boot an existing linux domU off the cdrom on sles11 dom0?
I have a sles10 domU running on a sles11 dom0. xen is version 3.4. We''re trying to pass through a scsi card to the domU. We assign the domU the scsi card through virt manager. When we try to boot the domU it won''t boot. We need to update fstab and menu.lst, but we need to boot with the hardware attached to see how it''s being seen by the domU. On a physical machine we

Installing domU from ISO image file
I am trying to install CentOS from an ISO image file but the installer does not see a CD-ROM drive. The VNC viewer works but the CentOS installer indicates "Unable to find any devices of the type needed for this installation type." Then it prompts with "[Select driver] [Use a driver disk] [Back]". I have tried several variations of the "disk" paramater, all

RE: It is possible to install Windows XP with intel vtnow ?
I had this happen to me on FC4 using 3.0.2-2 Xen. I updated the various external dependencies and rebuilt xen and tools and was able to sucessfully install FC4 in a hvm. I will give winxp a go later in the afternoon. Error starting stubdom HVM on Xen-3.4.3-rc4-pre
Hi there, Last night I was trying to start a HVM domU via stubdom-dm device model. Initially I did not receive any error to stdout when I did so with Xen-3.4.2. My Xen-3.4.2 installation works fine with qemu-dm (or regular HVM guests). The stubdom-dm guest I was trying to create did not really operate as I was unable to connect to the VNC console. The output of xm list showed the DomU was there,

Paravirtualised drivers for fully virtualised domains
(The list appears to have eaten my previous attempt to send this. Apologies if you receive multiple copies.) The attached patches allow you to use paravirtualised network and block interfaces from fully virtualised domains, based on Intel''s patches from a few months ago. These are significantly faster than the equivalent ioemu devices, sometimes by more than an order of magnitude.

Install guest domains using virt-manager and iso images
Hi All, Hope I''m not too annoying yet.. I have CentOS 5.4 running as Domain 0. I can create CentOS guest domains via network using virt-install. However that''s a bit slow, and I don''t want to repeat the download process again if I create new guest domains. So my questions: - Can I create guest CentOS domains using virt-install and specify a dvd iso image as its
