Data relationships for e-commerce: users, orders, addresses
Hi there
I''m in the process of developing an e-commerce Rails app but am
getting a little stuck on what models I should be working with on the
order/checkout side of things.
The app requires users to be registered and authenticated to checkout.
So I already have a User model and an Order model (which belongs to a
User). The Order model is largely similar to that used in the Agile

Credit card processing through Australian gateways (eway etc)
Hi there
Has anyone out there embarked on credit card processing in a Rails app
through Australian gateways such as eway?
I''m aware of Payment and ActiveMerchant, but neither support
Australian gateways.
It''s a little beyond me right now to hack these to work with eway.
Any clues would be appreciated here.

validates_acceptance_of + functional testing
I had to add a check box indicating that a user accepted certain terms
to a page. So, I put in a ''validates_acceptance_of :terms'' line into
the appropriate model and added a checkbox to my view. Everything
works as expected in my web browser.
However, my functional tests still pass and I didn''t add or change
anything to them. I was expecting to have to add another

validates_acceptance_of weirdness
On my registration form I have a checkbox for a waiver. In the model I
have the statement:
validates_acceptance_of :waiver, :on => :create, :message => "must be
accepted"
In the view:
<%= check_box_tag("waiver") %>
<%= error_message_on "user", "waiver", "Waiver "%>
For some reason validate is accepting everything when the

How To Validate Boolean Form Field
Hello all.
I''ve got the following in my model:
class Individual < ActiveRecord::Base
validates_presence_of :first_name, :last_name, :street, :city,
:state, :zip
validates_acceptance_of :AZ_resident, :message => "You must be an
Arizona resident."
end
The AZ_resident field is present and defined as boolean (PostgreSQL
8.1), but validation will not occur.

checkboxes for filtered search
I have a page that renders a series of about 20 checkboxes on the
left hand side with content on the right. These checkboxes are
created from a DB and that part is all working well.
What I want to do is have a user click on a checkbox [genres] and
have the content on the right be filtered based on the checkbox
ticked. If a user clicks on more than one checkbox than only those

Creating a child simultaneously with parent via form
Hi there
I''ve got a user model and an address model; a user has_many addresses.
A user object can be created via an html form which also allows for an
initial address to be created.
I''ve got a controller method working to save both objects via the
form, but I suspect I can achieve this in a more rails-esque manner.
Here is my controller method:
def signup

Howto: Check_box with a variable (no model)
Hi,
I would like to put a checkbox on a form where the input field is a
variable rather than a field in a model.
The normal way (with a model) would be:
<%= check_box(''client'', ''accept'', {}, "1", "0") %>
But since accept is a variable @accept and model client will not be
there, how do I make a check box work?

There''s been some great stuff added to edge since 2.0.2. Any chance it

validates_acceptance_of, virtual attributes and mass assign
Hi,
I''ve a question concerning validates_acceptance_of method.
Documentation says that the validated attribute is a virtual one,
without a field in db. But when I add such an attribute to my form (say
check_box(:xyz, :agreement)), it''s passed in params[:xyz][:agreement],
but not assigned when calling Xyz.new(params[:xyz]), probably because

many many checkboxes
Hi *,
Starting to try and figure out the best way to handle the next part of
my first application.
I need to provide a form which will host approx 60 checkboxes - each
respective checkbox will need to relate to a boolean (tinyint? - I
persume a boolean would be best, (ticked / not ticked)).
I have had quite a google around on this and I have seen some tutorials
where it is suggested to use

CheckBox and Ruby on Rails
I have two questions:
1. I have a checkbox on a form and after submit I need to check the
status of the checkbox. Any idea how to see what the checkbox is set
to? I am assuming this must be done in the controller or model but
cannot figure it out.
2. On load I am checking for a cookie and need to determine if the
checkbox should be checked or unchecked. Is there a way for me to do
this from

Checkbox readonly
I declare some checkboxes :
<%= check_box_tag ''offers[]'', offer.id ,
@params[:offers].include?(offer.id.to_s) ,:readonly=>true %>
the result is :
<input checked="checked" id="offers[]" name="offers[]"
readonly="readonly" type="checkbox" value="1" />
But readonly doesn''t work ???

Group checkbox toggling
This isn''t really a scriptaculous question, but it might be interesting
anyway.
I''m generating a rails app and in one form I have a grid of check-boxes
(rows = A..H and col=1..12).
I would like to put a checkbox in the column/row headers to toggle the
boxes in a particular row or column. Each box has a name like

As.Factor with Logistic Regression
I am modeling the probability of player succeeding in the NFL with a
binomial logistic regression with 1 signifying success and 0
signifying no success. I performed the regression of the binomial
variable against overall draft position using the college conference
for which each player played as a factor using the
as.factor(Conference) command.
My question is:

appreciate the help.
Here''s the q: I generate a list of items from the database and render
