Hi everybody! I know this is an ultraknown issue, but in my case i think it is going beyond. As you may guess my domUs clocks go faster or slower They come with the same OS (Centos 5 2.6.18-92.1.18.el5 ) but each of them have a different clock speed. Why? Hello, On a xenserver with several (39) domUs, we experience problems with the system clock of the domUs. The clock seems to drift away several seconds up to two minutes from the dom0 clock. We do have set independent_wallclock=0. According to the docs (i.e. http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/InstallationNotes) that way domUs should use the dom0 clock, but apparently that''s not the case.

The time appears to be perfect inside dom0, however all the domU''s tend to have a slightly faster date which gets further out of sync every day. Dear Xen users, Do you know what are the kernel modules and/or mechanisms creating the directory structure /proc/sys/xen on a domU? We are running various Fedora-10, Centos 5.3, SLES 11 on HVM domUs but none of them includes this directory structure. Is it limited to PV domUs? Hello. On kernel from linux-image-2.6.18-6-xen-686, there is /proc/sys/xen/independent_wallclock sysctl that may be used to decoupte domU clock from domO clock. This is needed to run ntp in domU. Hi list, one and hopefully last strange thing I figured out ist the systime of my guests. Dom0 uses ntp for time syncronisation. I set the time on my guests manually but after reboot any machine (Windows server, XP, Freebsd, even PV Machines like ubuntu) all run local time - 2 hours. /proc/sys/xen/independent_wallclock is set to 0 so actually the time should be set by dom0...(?) I think it''s perfect the way it is. Run NTP in dom0, all the domU''s then have synchronized time. I can still set timezones on all of these boxes independantly. While monitoring KVM VMs’ disk utilisation using libvirt API “virDomainBlockStats", I find that the results acquired is not consistent with the value read from /proc/[vm_pid]/io(i only care about “rd_bytes" and “wr_bytes” fields).
