I am trying to install CentOS 3.4 on a Compaq Proliant 1600, and it hangs on probing monitor type when anaconda starts. I have tried running 'linux text' and manually installing drivers from the f2 options screen. Any ideas? Forgive me if this is an unbearably simple question, but I am new to linux. Mike

We were running fine under 4.7-STABLE, and updated the sources to 4.8-STABLE last night (5/8/03), built and installed. greetings, for those of you in the know, may i have some assistance in helping to make better decisions in purchasing more used server toys to install CentOS on please? :-) in the Compaq Proliant Rackmount DL380 line, the one that looks like the older 1850R is called a G1 meaning Generation 1 right? and then the DL380 G2 is a redesign that is gray and just has 6 drive bays up front correct?

After yum upgrade, the new CentOS5 kernel [ kernel-2.6.18-92.1.1.el5.i686 ] crashes each time early in boot process on Compaq ProLiant 3000 with dual Pentium3 CPU (600 MHz, CPU0: Intel Pentium III (Katmai) stepping 03, CPU1 the same). Quick summary of the Issue I posted a few weeks go about a HP DL380G3 server running RHAS21 that was hanging under heavy disk IO. Server is 2x2.8GB hyper threading Xeons, 6GB 400Mhz RAM. I'm having problems with PXELINUX passing through to a "localboot" on a HP Proliant DL385. I'm working with 3.73. If I configure PXELINUX to directly "localboot", everything works.
