(off-topic)Update sii-3512A serial ata controller - which flash memory?
Hi.
I had to update the BIOS of a Silicon Image 3512A Serial ATA controller.
I''m not using RAID.
When I run the updater program (updflash.exe), it asks me to choose
flash memory from a list, something like: AMD Am29F010B (1 Megabit), AMD
Am29LV01B (1 Megabit), etc.
How can I find out which is flash memory of the controller?
Thanks

force 10 megabit full duplex
I figured out how to force 10 megabit full duplex on my ethernet
interface. The trick is i need it to stick in case of a reboot so i
don't have to reforce it. I have not been able to figure that one out
yet. I have not found it in the man's or google yet. If someone could
point me in the right direction i would be much obliged.

g729 and latency measures
Hi, we have set up a small project in a school the following way:
SITE_A(4 port analog to ip
g729)------ADSL_ISP1-------ISP2--------Asterisk-----PSTN
Site A has 1 Megabit of bandwith (up 512kilobit down 1 megabit)
The asterisk box gets internet service via a wireless antenna. 1 Mbit
of up/down bandwith
Comments:
So far, this means that I will need licenses for the 729.
asterisk only supports 20ms

Automatic start with SuSe linux
Hi!
I'm trying to start asterisk at boottime. Since SuSe has no rc.local like in
Redhat linux, I need asterisk starting script to /etc/init.d/rc3.d -directory
(I assume it is like that if i want automated asterisk startup).
Do you have any experience how this is implemented in SuSe, and if you have some
useful script for starting asterisk, I would be very, i mean VERY pleased?
Thank you all

Multiple NICs on Asterisk box
Hi All,
Long time no chat ;-)
Asterisk 1.0.9 (sometimes) won't authenticate IAX phones after re-boot
of SuSE 9.3 box
I've traced the problem to be with the firewall and the fact that I have
2 NICs in the box. Now that I have opened port 4569 on both interfaces,
asterisk seems happy *but* does anyone know how to force SuSE 9.3 to
always bring up a specific NIC before the otherone?

Ingress qdisc functional?
Hello all!
I''ve just subscribed to the list after looking around on Google and checking out
the TC source code a bit. Here''s my situation:
I have a megabit DSL line that I''d like to set up some shaping on. I only have
access to the linux router on my (client) end. Because of that, I was looking to
do some shaping using the ''ingress'' qdisc. However,

disabling roaming profiles for some networks only
Hey everyone.
We have two offices accessing the same Samba server, which is
a PDC and file server. The server is located in one of the
offices, but the other office is only connected by a relatively
slow link (1.5 megabit/s).
I'm looking for a way to turn off roaming profiles only
for those users which are at the remote site. (It's a tad
inconvenient when it takes an hour or two to

OT: HOWTO: Create a 90mbit bonded link 600 metre s away with Cat 3 or telco wire [long]
I was given the challenge recently of creating a LAN-LAN bridge between two
buildings several
hundred metres from each other, using only existing Cat 3 wiring and without
having to resort
to an expensive and finicky 5 Ghz wireless link. I was able to create a 90
megabit link for
about $3,000 Cdn with new PC's, CentOS 4.1, and the newly avaliable Black
Box VDSL Ethernet

Amazing, great protocol IAX
Hi;
I've just had a couple of discoveries in the learning process that are
really making me impressed with this software.
1) IAX transfer - I'm running Asterisk boxes A, B, and C. B is in the
middle and has a dialplan that points to extensions on C. When a client
on A in the proper context on B tries dialling a client of C, B is smart
enough to release itself somehow from playing

Using opus on ATMEL 32-bit RISC microcontroller
Hello Daniele
It would be worthwhile to attach an external serial flash or USB thumb
drive, if the intent is store data. This allows for far more flexibility in
storage

Slow performance with Win95 client
Hi
I am new to this list, but I have been having problems with samba for some
time now. Here is the problem When my Win95 clients access the samba
server I get real slow transfers, even if I only have one client accessing
the server. It transfers at like 70k/s to 150k/s, and the collision
lights on the hub start going crazy. even for 10 megabit networking, this
is rather slow. (it takes like 3

Local mirrors and ISP transfer bills
As a matter of policy and because I'm at the end of a DS/1 that needs to
feed
my customers needs, I've set up a local subset mirror of Centos 3.3. It's a
subset because I don't copy any of the x86_64 directories ( no machines that
use them ) but it's also a superset because I've added an additional "local"
directory structure that contains things that I need -

immortal connections
I have several data input functions that include a construct like
the following:
indat <- function(stuff) {
[...]
awkp <- paste("awk ...yada yada...", stuff, etc.)
scan(pipe(awkp),quiet=TRUE)
}
I use these functions a lot, and as I do, a lengthening list of
closed, but undestroyed, connections accumulates. Ultimately this
appears to stuff things up and cause

Gigabit Ethernet and samba network bandwidth
Hi all,
I am notice strange behaviour of samba in our mixed
fastEthernet/gigabitEthernet enviroment.
First of all let me to describe our situation.
We have a samba server running debian unstable with 2.6.3 kernel
installed. Server has a gigabit copper connection (tg3 driver) to the
100/1000 Megabit switch (3COM 4228G). Client is a WinXP/Linux workstation
connected by ordinary 100 Megabit
