bonding tap devices
Hello list,
Please don''t shoot me. I know I''m doing something with bonding that
bonding wasn''t made for. I just want to give it a try. I want a simple
mechanism to have a failover on a 24Mbit line to a 2Mbit line in case
the 24Mbit line goes down.
Between A and B there are two lines: a 24Mbit and a 2Mbit. I use two

Shorewall and OpenVPN woes
Ok. I''m knocking down one problem at a time.
I''ve managed to figure out how to bridge my tap0 and my eth1 with br0.
This is good stuff.
But if I have shorewall running, I can''t ping the local network at all.
If I have shorewall not running, I can ping the local network.
Here is my setup.
Firewall/NAT box:
eth0 - DHCP from cable provider

OpenVPN (bridge) -- is this a shorewall issue?
I am trying to make the following connection:
WindowsXP(OpenVPN-Client)->shorewall->Internet->LinksysWRTG->OpenVPN-Server
...of course the reverse path too.
The OpenVPN server is running in bridge mode.
When the openVPN client is launched it looks like a successful connection is made. The openVPN client
gets assigned an address from the openVPN server pool. The OpenVPN

SIP connections over OpenVPN connection get one-way voice.
You need to ensure that traffic to the SIP box is sent to the correct IP. Also if you use split-tunnel (eg: not redirect-gateway def1) you must make sure NAT and traffic redirection works as is so the Asus router knows it should send the traffic through tunnel and not via WAN.
IMPORTANT: Then you must, in the ASUS RT-N66U make a port forward inwards from TUN to the phone client.
I would suggest

I''m running Shorewall 4.4.0/Debian Lenny and I''m trying to setup OpenVPN
with a mild degree of success so far.
My ultimate end goal is to basically have an extension of my home lan to
my laptop as well as my wife''s when we are away from home, and have all
of my normal network resources available as if I were sitting at home

[Bridge] Strange DHCP behaviour with bridging
Here is the scenario: I have one server with kernel 2.4.24 with a bridge br0
made of 2 interfaces, eth0 and tap0 (the last is an OpenVPN tunnel), and one
remote computer connetting through tap0. If I assign a static IP to the
remote computer, the bridge works perfecly (so I think the problem is not
OpenVPN-related). If I start a DHCPd on the server and I configure the remote
client to get the

Openvpn and samba: play nice together?
Friends--
I'm stumped! Cannot get mount.cifs to work over a tun connection. How
would you trouble-shoot this?
1. It cannot be openvpn causing the problem: I can ping across the
connection both directions on all machines.
2. It cannot be samba causing the problem: I can mount.cifs the smb
shares on the lan (using the identical credentials file) without any issue.
3. Have iptables

Shorewall/OpenVPN issue
Good day,
I have gone through a couple of the HOWTO''s on how to get this to work, but
I am still sitting with a very strange (for me) issue.
If two clients connect via OpenVPN (bridged), they can access each other
without any problems, but neither of them can access the server, nor any
system behind it.
I am fairly sure it is a Shorewall issue, but I am very new to Shorewall,

interactions between xen and openvpn
Hi all, first time that i tried to use xen.
My goal is to reach in ssh all the domUs after i manage to get a
connection through openvpn.
Like they were real servers.
I installed the openvpn server on my dom0 (ubuntu 9.04 + default
package + latest debian-xen-amd64 kernel)
After connecting to the openvpn server I''m able to do direct ssh just
to the dom0.
For reaching domU i had do it with

linux bridging problem: how to emulate 2 separate interfaces on a single one?
Hi all.
I would need to use a single physical interface on a Linux box to manage
two different IP addresses (belonging to two separate logical subnets)
with two different MAC address. (I need to emulate te presence of two
separate physical interfaceses for a PC on the same LAN, at layer 2 and
layer 3).
Is it possible to use the linux ethernet bridging code and two tap
interfaces for this

WG: Cross subnet browsing + OpenVPN
What about your openvpn config?
The tun net must have an entry in your hosts allow.
If you work with briding the remote network has to be the same subnet as the
local!?
Bridging is the best way to have a remote net integrated.
I have one logging in form Berlin on my Samba-Domain.

Openvpn, bridge and shorewall
Hi,
I have a Linux firewall based on shorewall with 2 NIC and ADSL (ppp0). My ppp0 ip is fixed. The internal NIC, eth1, is bridged with tap0, tap1 and tap2 to form br0. br0 subnet is 192.168.2.0/24.
The firewall is configured to masq internal traffic and block whatever needs to be blocked. It is also configured to tunnel openvpn v1.6.
I have a roaming laptop running XP. I can create a tunnel

Re: [SOLVED] C&C Red Alert 3 - Lan (and also hamachi) play
Code:
1. First establish a VPN. I use a bridged VPN set up with OpenVPN. It works fine.
The VPN client created a tap0 interface with the IP 11.0.0.3.
2. Re-route packets for 255.255.255.255 to your VPN interface (Here tap0)
# route add host 255.255.255.255 dev tap0
3. In /etc/hosts, remove any reference to your hostname (TACHIBANA here) and, on the first line, add :
11.0.0.3 TACHIBANA
4. Compile

IPv6, ULAs and FreeBSD
Hello,
I already consulted related lists @freebsd.org [1,2] but I have remained
unsuccessful to solve the following issue: VPN works for an internal
IPv4 subnet, but I doesn't for an internal IPv6 subnet with ULAs. To be
honest, I don't have any experience setting up a local IPv6; so I guess
that I'm doing something wrong here.
For those that know FreeBSD: The main aim is to connect

Bridging Firewall with windows OpenVPN road warriors?
I have previously set up an openvpn LAN to LAN bridging VPN so I know a
little about what has to happen. The gateways on either ends were
running older version of shorewall that did not support openvpn directly
so I just basically opened ports for it and used bridging with tap
interfaces. I am no longer using that vpn link to the other house but
now that i''ve upgraded I would like
