Changing disk UUID after cloning
So, I have a CentOS 6 system, and I want to make several clones of it. I'm using Clonezilla to clone the drives; that's no problem. But the drive UUIDs are driving me up the wall. After cloning, the two drives have the same UUID, but I'd like each clone to have different UUIDs so there's no possibility of a conflict when I am running diagnostics with two drives installed, etc.

lenny amd64 and xen.
I''ve installed debian lenny amd64, it is frozen now. I''ve install kernel for xen support but it doesn''t start. It says "you need to load kernel first" but I''ve installed all the packages concerning xen, also packages related to the kernel. Perhaps lenny doesn''t support xen anymore? Any solution?

Identifying disk resources in dom0
Hello, For my xen domUs I''m using a mixture of locah physical partitions (with LVM) and iSCSI disks. For local partitions, I don''t have any problem, because LVM volumes are always the same. But for iSCSI disks, devices are assigned in the order they are connected, so I can''t be sured that device that now is /dev/sdb (for example) will always be /dev/sdb. So, is there

Backing up "live" Xen systems?
I''ve been testing Xen for a few weeks now and am just about to put it into production use. (I wrote some scripts to create Debian images easily; the tools are included in Debian Sid as "xen-tools".) The only thing troubling me at the moment is backing up the virtual instances. I''m looking to run about four virtual systems upon a host. If the physical host

CentOS LiveCD on USB
I have been following these instructions: https://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=501 to put a bunch of utilities (Clonezilla, SystemRescue, CentOS netinstall/rescue, etc.) on a single USB key. It works great for everything (including Ubuntu Live) except the CentOS 6.4 LiveCD. (You can see my postings at the bottom of the forum.) When booting the LiveCD, I got: Kernel panic - not syncing:

directory /dev/disk/by-label
I am trying to create a CF card that boots 686 CentOS 6.3 On boot I get a message about /dev/disk/by-label/\x2f where \x2f is "/" cannot be found. Adding rdshell to the boot line and booting up sure enough the /dev/disk directory does not exist. What "creates" that early on in the boot process? My CF card was changed from UUID to LABEL. So I edited grub.conf and make

GRUB2 configuration for Xen 4 on Ubuntu Linux 10.04
Hello, I have installed the Xen 4.1.1 and a working kernel 2.6.32.43 which supports Xen on a Ubuntu Linux 10.04 LTS. However, I have never successfully booted the Hypervisor and Dom0. The screen is always black after some kernel messages rapidly go by. I think that I may pass the wrong parameters to the kernel or Hypervisor with GRUB2. Can any one share his/her working grub.cfg for GRUB2 with

On a 8 Core system only dom0 can set cap > 100 and vcpus > 1. On a domU ''xm sched-credit -d <domU> -c 200'' says "Error: cap is out of range". Vcpu cannot be set higher than 1 - regardless of boot/config/command line. Low performance is equivalent to the cap setting. See ''xm list --long'': (domain (domid 0) (uuid

Sporadic duplicate requests with lpxelinux.0
Hello, I am seeing sporadic duplicate read requests from lpxelinux.0 (6.03 from kernel.org), which results in a failed PXE boot. This happens only sporadic, but happens often enough to be annoying. The TFTP server serving lpxelinux.0 is running CentOS 7.6 with all updates applied. The client machine initiates the PXE boot, receives the lpxelinux.0 binary, downloads ldlinux.c32 and proceeds to
