Headers for kernel xen-kernel-2.6.16-xen3_86.1_rhel4.1
Hello All, This is my first post to this list, though I''ve been following Xen''s development since the beginning (well, after news about it first broke, anyway). I''ve been wanting to try it out, and hopefully consolidate a few servers here, so I finally made the decision to do just that. I''ve downloaded the RHEL 4.1 RPMs from the xensource.com website, and

How to determine why a server is not responding
Hi to all! We're using CentOS 5.5 64bits for our Plesk 11. This week we had the following problem 3 times... Suddenly, the server stops responding in all services (SSH, Apache, Postfix, ...) but ping works! After wait a few minutes (or 2 hours some times) the server continues unresponsive until we reboot. After reboot we search on /var/log/messages but cannot find useful information...

Evolution bug in CentOS 4.3
Hi Everyone, A client has an email in Evolution with an attachment: CNH_Specialized_Bid_Letter_Web_Ex_#1.doc When the file is opened directly from Evolution, OOo Writer complains: /home/rob/.evolution/cache/tmp/evolution-tmp-inF1Pe/CNH_Specialized_Bid_Letter_Web_Ex_ does not exist. But, the user's Evolution temp cache has a copy of the file: -rw-rw---- 1 rob rob 30208 Jun 23 00:43

smbd using alot of cpu
I have an smbd process that is using alot of cpu on HP-UX 11.11 using Samba 2.2.3a. It looks like the application on the client side is trying to open and close a ton of files, many of which do not exist. When I do a trace on the smbd process, I see repeated calls to lstat64 to what looks like all of the device files on my unix server. Here is a little bit of the trace. It goes through all of the

update from 4.8 to 5.4?
I have searched the list, and don't see this covered or didn't search for the right words. I'm running CentOS 4.8 and have some DVD's for 5.4. I have a lot of customized and additional software installed and would like to avoid starting over with a scratch install. After the upgrade from the DVD I would do a yum upgrade to 5.5. Is this a workable (and safe) thing to do? What

fail to mount after first reboot
I created a 1TB RAID1. So far it is just for testing, no important data on there. After a reboot, I tried to mount it again # mount /dev/mapper/vg00-btrfsvol0_0 /mnt/btrfs0 mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/mapper/vg00-btrfsvol0_0, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or

Global sieve doesn't run and I don't know why
1. set mail_debug=yes, try again, and check logs 2. take one email (the whole email as source), store it as mail.eml and use sieve-test to find out if your script is broken. Global sieve doesn't run and I don't know why
Hi Everyone, I have dovecot, postfix, roundcube and piegeonhole managesieve all working nicely together. Personal scripts defined in roundcube run without issue. I have configured the global sieve dir defined in 90-sieve.conf: sieve_global_dir = /var/lib/dovecot/sieve/global/ I pre-compiled the script in there: # ls -l /var/lib/dovecot/sieve/global/ total 8 -rw-r--r--. 1 root root 118 Sep 19

logwatch reports not benig emailed
Hello, I have a couple of CentOS 5 servers, and third running in a FC6 domU. I've configured postfix on those servers to not deliver any email to the local system, but to instead relay mail to an internal mail server. I also set up /etc/aliases to send all mail to root to me, ksandhu. I can send mail on the command line, and I get it at my email address, delivered to the internal mail

Migrating from KVM to XEN - kernel panic
First let me say that I'm not a sysadmin, but am simply wearing that hat this week so please excuse my ignorance. I need to temporarily move some virtual servers from a CentOS-KVM platform to a CentOS-XEN platform while I do some upgrades to the CentOS box. I've created a local LV, and used DD and SCP to transfer the block device from the VKM machine to the XEN machine. For quite a
