Valid users directive
Hi Everyone I'm new to samba and I have been trying in vein to find a solution to this problem. I am setting up a linux samba server as a domain member server. It is part of the MAINT workgroup. Winbind and Samba authenticate correctly. The issue arises when I try to limit the users who are allowed to use a my share folder. Most of the information I have lookup seem to say that I should

Would you switch jobs for the chance to use Textmate?
Lets say you had a pretty decent job, but your company mandated use of emacs. The poaching employer offers you a free copy of Textmate(tm). Would you jump ship solely in order to use Textmate at company B? Cheers, Dave -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Mongrel 3.15, Ubuntu and Park place (S3)
Hello. I installed under Ubuntu (Dapper) Park Place. I followed the instructions given at the RedHanded site. I get the following mongrel error when launching the application: ** Please login in with `admin'' and password `pass@word1'' ** You should change the default password or delete the admin at soonest chance!/usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/mongrel-0.3.12.5/lib/mongrel.rb:584:in

is it safe to have two backed used for the same user?
hi everybody I wonder if it is safe (and wise) to have two passw-user databases for the same one user. I'm thinking, mail to me via pam mail to me at this.domain via ldap whole Maildir would be essentially the same one storage target, I see permissions have to be mangled, available to write for both vmail and actual uid. what do you think? Is it how it's done? regards

postfix sasl -> haproxy -> dovecot auth
I will install cyrus-sasl and see how it goes. Anyway, it would be nice to have same features (authentication agains imap) in dovecot. Authenticating against ActiveDirectory - can't read userPassword/unicodePwd?
Hello list, So, the application I am working on right now needs to have LDAP authentication build in, meaning that if the user enabled it, we will query about his basic data (email, pwd) on a user-setup LDAP directory. It used to work fine when I was testing with OpenLDAP. The code, essentially, is this: connection.bind(self.bind_dn,self.password)

Failure gpupdate
Dear James and Lingpanda Here I have 2 DC's running. Everything was running perfectly. The problem started after I started to rsync to synchronize the Sysvol folder between DC's. I believe it is a permission problem in the GPO's or Sysvol folder. Another detail. Even accessing the gpedit Group Polic Manager via RSAT using the Administrator User, I can no longer edit any GPO. I get

[LLVMdev] Utilizing gperf for TableGen

Failure gpupdate
Yes, I performed tests on both DC's. 2 DC's working normally. The sysvolreset works in both DC's after I disabled full_audit. The gpupdate / force works perfectly. And also through the RSAT, I do not get more permission error when I edit any GPO. If this is a bug, who can inform / report? What I find strange in DC's, is when I view the sysvol permissions. The DC2 appears the

Scalability
Hello everyone, I want an opinion from people who tryed different matching modules to match diferent types of traffic, especially p2p ones. I would like to hear which scales better as CPU usage and latency : ipp2p, iptables-p2p or l7-filter with the p2p patterns. I want to use one of them to block most of p2p (except maybe dc++ and emule which i want to shape). I would use the matching rules in

still about winbind idmap customization
Hi, i've read the thread about idmap customization, i'm planning an integration between windows AD and MIT kerberos, and i was very interested on the subject. Now we are authenticating windows AD user against mit kerberos realm with a cross-domain trust, and with windows client everythings works. Ie. Authentication is done with kerberos mit and authorization is done with windows AD.

[LLVMdev] [PATCH] Support for ARM Run-Time ABI (FP and Integer helper functions)
I wrote that loop. :-) So now the differences between this patch and the one I had been sitting on are: * We have opposite condition codes in our FP comparisons. * This patch has integer division, which seems like a good thing, but wasn't needed for my A9 target. Are you sure about the comparisons? deep On Tue, Sep 28, 2010 at 9:11 AM, Evzen Muller <evzen.muller at arm.com> wrote:

Simple File I/O benchmark tool for NT clients
Hi, I need a simple tool for benchmarking my NT client against my Ubuntu Samba server. I get 20MB/s during a file copy but I think my limit is the client's hard disk. Dose anyone know a simple exe tool which simulate file I/O agains the Samba server. I like to avoid using my lokal disk during the test. Have looked around but can't find a simpe tool which dose the job without the need of

Helps!!!!! Rails database connection guru needed!!!!!!!
Hi, I really need help to understand what is happening while Rails connect to a database, (we area actually using postgresql, so my example will be with postgresql) What I understand is Rails is able to connect to different DB. Actually, this is what we want, and we have made some tests, everything is juste fine. However, all these tests lead us to some important questions that we did find the

samba share is symlink, symlink gets updated, samba doesn't catch the change
I have a couple of samba shares that point to symlinks. Basically these are last night's copy of a bunch of data. The path changes every night (YYMMDD is in the path name), so I've just got one symlink that gets updated to the path with the latest date every night. I was using an old Samba on OpenSolaris for a long time and this process was working. Using 3.6.23 on RHEL and although

codepage-conversion for smbclient
Hi list, I've browsed through the archives, but I didn't find a answer for this: I use smbclient to access a windowsNT 4.0 server. I get only '?' for filenames which contains Umlauts. F.e., a file called "Verkn?pfung" is displayed as "Verkn?pfung". I use following mount-string: mount.smbfs //SERVER/Share /home/xxx -o rw noexec nosuid nodev user codepage
