Problems booting a 32bit domU kernel on a Debian sarge amd64 x86_64 dom0 host.
I installed Debian sarge amd64 on a Intel em64t processor machines and have been using the Xen 3.0 packages in backports.org. I can boot a 32 bit guest OS fine if I use the vmlinuz-2.6.16-1-xen-em64t-p4kernel, but when trying to use the stock vmlinuz-2.6.16-xen from their binary tarball, or building it from the source package I get the following error: xentest:/var/log# xm create debian0.cfg -c

Running R on a 64 bit processor
Greetings, We recently obtained a new computer in our lab with a Pentium 4 3.86 GHz processor and 4 gb of ram running windows xp with service pack 2. After installing R on this machine, I ran a bit of code and found that the execution time was actually significantly slower than a machine running windows xp with an older Pentium chip 1.73 GHz and 1 gb of ram. After speaking with the

--enable-BLAS-shlib conflict with --with-lapack in configure?
Dear developeRs, I'm trying to build R (2.7.1, on an x86_64 running Linux, but I believe I have observed this on x86 and with earlier versions of R as well) using external BLAS and LAPACK libraries _and_ generating libR.so, libRblas.so and libRlapack.so. Without --enable-BLAS-shlib, configure is able to find and use the external LAPACK library: ./configure \

domU''s on SLES 10.0b3 crashing dom0
Hi all, I installed SLES 10.0b3 with XEN on some test-systems and created a SLES 10.0b3-image for use with domU''s. The installation and booting of this domU was no problem, but on some systems the host dom0 restarts if I generate some IP-traffic from the guest. This happens on an old AMD Athlon 1,3GHz, an old Intel P3 and an Intel desktop with P4 HT/VT/EM64T but not on an Intel

List of updates in Update 3 ?
While update 3 was released last week, it looks like there are 40 or so packages updated. I dunno about squid, it is listed on http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/rhel4as-errata.html but the changelog is from October 2005 (unless it is an rhel only bug). audit-1.0.12-1.EL4.i386.rpm audit-libs-1.0.12-1.EL4.i386.rpm audit-libs-devel-1.0.12-1.EL4.i386.rpm bootparamd-0.17-21.RHEL4.i386.rpm

Match between Dom0 and DomU PV
I have a bit of a Xen theory question. I have a Debian 5 Lenny x64 Dom0 currently running two DomUs. One is an x64 built via Xen-tools, and it seems to be running great. The second (known as Alpha) is having some troubles, as I mentioned in my post "Ubuntu 8.04 DomU crash" to this list on 5/12/09. It is an x86/32 Ubuntu 8.04 that started life as an HVM and was rebuilt into a PV where

configure can't find dgemm in MKL10
Hi, I'm trying to follow the R-admin instructions for using MKL10 as the external BLAS compiling R-2.6.2 under Linux on a RH EL head node of a cluster. The configure process seems to have problems when it checks for dgemm in the BLAS. I'm using configure as: ./configure CC=icc F77=ifort --with-lapack="$MKL" --with-blas="$MKL" where $MKL is defined as in R-admin

Problem building R with Intel MKL v10 BLAS
NO Hi. I'm not sure if this is an R-help or R-devel problem, so I'm starting here in the hope that someone can help (and willing to go to the other list if it's more appropriate). I think I am following all of the instructions in the various manuals, but clearly I am missing something. I have an Intel EM64T Dell with 2 dual-core Xeon processors running Red Hat EL5. I would

Tips for installing Fedora 10 32bit Xen PV domU/guest on CentOS 5.3 dom0/host
Hello! Xen and related packages (libvirt, virt-install, virt-manager etc) in Upcoming CentOS 5.3 support running and installing Fedora 10 (and Fedora 11) paravirtual domU guest virtual machines. These upstream fixes (new features) make it possible: "RHEL5.3 xen: include support for booting Fedora 10 DomU (i.e. bzImage support)" https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=457199

domU custom kernel: Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.
Hello, To compile a custom kernel, I downloaded 2.6.29.1 from kernel.org and followed the tutorial at: http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/Kernel.org_Linux_on_Xen Used a supposedly working .config file for the compilation (generated by my provider to compile his xenU kernels), set /dev/xvd* device nodes both in the domU conf file (disk, root): disk = [

PXE-on-a-disk Intel EM64T reboot
Hello! I have been successful using SYSLINUX and Etherboot to create a generic "PXE-on-a-disk" package, a floppy image and CD image that support as many Ethernet cards as possible. These have support for all of Etherboot's modules that support real PCI cards: about 25-or-so drivers and 250-or-so cards. I've built Etherboot ZLILO images, one for each driver, set up to boot

Asterisk on EM64T
I'm looking to install Asterisk on an EM64T Dell 1850. PERC raid 1, 1GB ram, single 3Ghz Xeon. Any red flags or anything I should know? Should I bother installing a 64 bit OS? (gentoo-amd64)? Does asterisk work in 64 bit mode? Should I turn hyper threading off? Etc?
