in a domU, 6 network interfaces wanted, only 3 seen
Hello,
I need 6 virtual interfaces in a domU (which will be our firewall). I''ve
created 6 bridges in dom0, configured everything correctly...
When I start the domU, it can only see 3 of them : eth0, eth1, eth2.
However, the bridges in dom0 are correctly configured, and I can see all 6
vifs (from vif<DOM_ID>.0 to vif<DOM_ID>.5) when using "brctl show".

FAQ: names and ordering of network interfaces in DomU
Hi,
XEN confused me very much. In the config file I had:
vif = [ ''mac=00:16:3e:ff:3b:18,bridge=xenbr0'',
''mac=00:16:3e:c0:92:08,bridge=xenbr1'' ]
The idea was to connect
eth0(peth0) via xenbr0 to DomU''s eth0, and
eth1(peth1) via xenbr1 to DomU''s eth1.
However it turned out that the first address is assigned to "eth2" in DomU,

order of network interfaces in domU messed up?
Hi,
until now, i have been using Xen 3.0.2. Now i upgraded to Xen 3.0.4.
Can anybody confirm, that the ordner in the config files for the network
interfaces has not changed?
My config file used to read:
vif = [ ''bridge=xenbr0'', ''bridge=xenbr1'' ]
So inside the DomU, eth0 was attached to xenbr0 on the host and eth1 was
attached to xenbr1.
Now i upgraded to

Dropped packets on DomU interfaces
When I run "xm top" and look at the network statistics I don''t see any
dropped packets on the vif interfaces in dom0, but I do see dropped
packets on the RX side of my domU interfaces. Here''s an example:
Net0 RX: 391757339bytes 464015pkts 0err 406drop TX: 95774401bytes
352651pkts 0err 0drop

domU network packets get lost on the way to dom0
Hi,
I am experiencing a strange network problem. It looks like some packets
get lost on the way from frontend network device in domU to the backend
vifx.x in dom0.
But first my configuration:
- Xen 3.4.0 from the gentoo ebuild and the pvops dom0 kernel from
jeremy/xen.git
- The system has two physical network interfaces called gblan (Gigabit
Ethernet) and felan (Fast Ethernet)

no network to DomU in Ubuntu Hardy
Hi,
I just installed Xen in Ubuntu Hardy.
DomU is not accessible either from Dom0 or external network.
I used default set up network-bridge/vif-bridge from xend-conf.sxp.
Bridge has got default name eth1 which is my default ethernet interface.
Before creating DomU:
root@jaguar-0:/home/longina# xm list

networking is slow/fails for more than one domU
Up to now I''ve been using only one domU and networking has been fine. Now
I''m trying to use several domUs simultaneously (up to 14) and having many
networking problems. In particular I''d like to fire off commands on all the
domUs at the same time (or at least within a couple seconds). Even something
as simple as:
ssh dom1 hostname &
ssh dom2 hostname &

SuSE 10 / No access to domU network services
hi there all,
I''m seeing some odd things with my networking (I''ll bet noone has ever
read that before!):
* My domU can access the outside world and download whatever I like
from within the domain
* Nothing from the outside can access the domU''s services despite the
fact they''re running
* I can access the domU''s services from the domU via eth0 or

Xen network problems on domU shutdown
Hi,
I''m new to XEN and have the following Problem:
If I shutdown my domU the network of the dom0 leaks. A ping from another
server to my xen dom0 shows a Packetloss > 80%. Then if I restart the
domU after some seconds the ping show a loss from 0%. I retryed that 3
times but it is really hard to go to the dom0 via ssh and recreate the
domU if the packetloss is that high.
I used google

Virtual network interfaces not being created?
Hi there!
I''m having some trouble getting networking going with Xen. When I
first boot into the Xen kernel, I have two network interfaces (lo and
eth0), both of which are configured correctly. When I start xend,
peth0, vif0.0, and xenbr0 are added to the list. So far so good.
When I actually instantiate a domain, no new vif entries are added to
the list. If I try to bring up the

Network problem: packets are lost in domU
Hello,
I am having big problems with Xen virtual network interfaces. First
I tried typical bridge support, no luck. The packets sent from dom0
to domU seemed to disappear somewhere. Then, to debug the problem
I have set up a simple point-to-point link and still have the same
problem.
I am using Xen 3.0.4-1 and Linux 2.6.16.x in both dom0 and domU.
I have tried kernel 2.6.16.35 and 2.6.16.41.

Fully virtualized domU Linux network (VLAN) trouble
Hi,
I have a 64bit Debian Lenny server with two physical network interfaces,
one is connected to a switch without VLANs (eth0), the other (eth1) is
connected to a switch with tagged VLANs (eth1). I''m running a couple of
paravirtualized VMs that have no problem using the eth0 interface
(bridged). I''m also running a couple of fully virtualized VMs, one being

DomU strange network behavior
I am experiencing strange network behavior from several DomU''s. I can ssh
from DomU to any host on the local lan/vlan, I can ping those hosts. However
when I go to resolve a hostname DNS fails. I have verified that three other
DomU''s are exhibiting the same behavior. I have also verified that Dom0 is
functioning properly and can resolve hostnames and access hosts outside of

DomU''s cannot see network packets on eth0 using TShark
Hi folks,
I''m new to Xen so apologies if this is a stupid question.
Setup is as follows:
Dom0 and DomU''s running Hardy Heron
Kernel 2.6.24-16-xen
Xen version 3.0
My problem is I want to run TShark on DomU to see packets sent to eth0 on
Dom0.
TShark on Dom0 can see packets sent to DomU on eth0 but DomU cannot see
packets sent to Dom0 on eth0. I know the eth0 on DomU is a

Problems with Network Bridge HVM DomU Debian Squeeze running over Kernel 2.6.32-5-xen-amd64 Debian Xen 4
Hello community!
I need help with a problem I haven''t been solved with the network team.
I manage a network that has over a thousand computers, and the most of the
servers are virtualized over Debian / Xen by me.
The specific issue arises when I try to set up a DomU HVM running Debian
Squeeze, the VM doesn''''t recognize the network but it runs. It gives an

NFS between domU and dom0 causes the virtual network to freeze! Please help
Hello,
I''m a new user to Xen, so please be patient with me.
I just installed a dom0 on my root-server and I also got a xenU to work with
routed network. I can access from both sides and I can access both machines
from any other computer too.
So far - so good.. (gentoo on both ends by the way)
My plan was to use a mounted NFS-directory from dom0 on my domU to place /home

Neverending story: Networking in domU
Hi,
i allready searched the archives, but found no message that really helps me.
i am running debian etch on dom0 and debian sarge on domU.
I had a running setup with debain sarge on dom0 before, but now with etch i can not get networking to work in domU.
I use routed networking, but the same seems to happen with bridged networking: eth0 within domU is not brought up.
I think it maybe related
