set large mtu on bridged network
Hi all,
In a bridged setup, how we can set a large mtu(4k) for the interface on
domU?
Eventhough ''ifconfig eth4 mtu 4000'' command worked in my case, whether
it reflect on the actual device?
Moreover I can''t set mtu for the bridge as 4k. Setting any value above
1500 mtu shows the following error,
xen-152:~ # ifconfig xenbr1 mtu 4000
SIOCSIFMTU: Invalid argument

A VPN is switched mode
Hi all,
I have been using tinc successfully for a while now.
However, I need to do something different from my normal setup, and i am
getting the feeling I am doing something obvious wrong.
What I want to do is hookup 5 distant linux routers into one bigger
network, Since I need to transmit both unicast and multicast traffic,
the VPN network has to be in "Mode = switch" [Assumption

network-bridge does not create veth or peth devices
Hi
I am trying to install xen (64bit) on a Dell PowerEdge 2900.
The installation process was something like the following:

python-dev transfig bzip2 screen ssh debootstrap libcurl3-dev
libncurses5-dev x-dev build-essential gettext python-pyopenssl

XCP jumbo frames in vm
Hello all,
Not sure if I am completely missing something but here goes. I have
XCP 1.0 running without any issues. I have the mtu set on both the
storage network, the corresponding PIF, and the VIF to 9000 and when
displayed in ifconfig it shows that this is indeed true. I have
several CentOs 5.6 VMs running in HVM mode (i.e. no xen kernel) which
attach to the the storage network through these

[PATCH v4 0/2] v2v: -o openstack: -oo verify-server-certificate=(true|false) (RHBZ#1651432).
The first patch restricts passthrough parameters to ones matching
"os-*". This was how it was documented, but not how it was
implemented.
The second patch is the same as v2 here:

[Bridge] MTU Question
I have a bridge that has gigabit interfaces. The machine in question has the
fun job of being a Bridge, Firewall and SMB server. Both of the Gigabit
interfaces are connected to workstations directly via Xover cable (well
MDI-X to be exact). My question is, if I enable jumbo frames on the gigabit
interfaces will that make any difference in overall transfer rate of the
bridge? I was thinking it

CentOS, RTL8196 and jumbo frames.
Hi all,
I've just upgraded my home network to a Linksys SRW2024 (with lovely
vlan trunking support!) and I'm trying to enable jumbo frames. When I
try to set the MTU of an rtl8169 based network card (it's a Netgear
RA311), it comes up with an error stating:
# ifconfig eth1 mtu 9000
SIOCSIFMTU: Invalid argument
The only options it will take are 1500 or below. Does anyone know

VLANs with Xen - work with 1 Gbit, doesn''t with 100 Mbit cards?
I have a strange problem with VLANs with Xen 3.0.4. I signalled it on
Xen-users list, but found no definitive solution to it.
I configure VLANs so that they are available in dom0; domUs don''t know
that they use VLANs.
I use a stock "network-bridge" comming from Xen for setting up networking:
#!/bin/bash
dir=$(dirname "$0")
"$dir/network-bridge"

Shorewall and Xen with network-dummy
Hello *,
I''m trying to setup Shorewall under Ubuntu 7.04 and Xen configured to
use network-dummy instead of network-bridge (network-bridge seems to be
buggy at the moment under Debian/Ubuntu).
Is there a shorewall config example I can use in combination with
network-dummy?
In particular, with network-dummy there is no peth interface and the
bridge include the real eth interface.

irqbalanced on SMP dom0 ?
Hi listmembers,
not a really urgent question, but i''m just curious about it:
Is it advised to use an irqbalanced on dom0 when running
domU''s pinned to particular cores?
as an example, i''ve got a dual quadcore xen system running
with
domU pinned to cores 1-3 (CPU#0)
domU pinned to cores 4-5 (CPU#1)
domU pinned to cores 6-7 (CPU#1)
so dom0 should have 100% time on

latest xen-unstable veth devices missing
Hi,
I am using the latest unstable and when I boot my xen, I do not see any
veth devices. This happens even after I start xend.
Xend gives this message on a
"xend start"
SIOCSIFNAME : Device or resource busy
Presumably the creation of veth and peth is failing because of this.
Any suggestions

Q: firewalling in Dom0 (bonding also)
Hi,
the docs suggest to use firewalling in Dom0. I have a question:
Dom0 sees al the interfaces, not just those considered its "own" ones. So should I
set up firewalling to use/protect only Dom0''s own interfaces, leaving individual
firewalls to DomUs, or should I set up firewalling on the physical interfaces
(peth*)?
To make things a bit worse I'' using bonding,

Re: annoying network problem
Hi,
I have a problem with networking under XEN, I hope someone can help me
out. The problem is that after some time (a day or so) the network
suddenly stops working, and it takes some waiting and/or a reboot to fix
this.
I''m running XEN 3.1.0-rc7 on an Intel Core2 (x86_64). It''s a Fedora 8
system, with the following packages:
o Xen version 3.1.0-rc7-2950.fc8

Ping dom0 <-> domU result in "Destination host unreachable"
Hi folks,
I read quite some posts about "Destination host unreachable" problems
before, but none could help me to solve my issue. So here we go:
This is what I am using:
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 SP1 - Current with all updates
Network configuration of my dom0:

peth device
Hi
I reached the conclusion that my networking problem stems from the
fact that I have no peth0 device. I''m trying to locate what creates the
device, but until now no success. So I have a simple question: What
creates the peth0 device in dom0?
TIA
Paolo
