Mounting SMB shares on SGI IRIX
Hello, We have been successfully using Samba to access Unix filesystems on Windows computers. So far we only had SGI IRIX computers and very few Windows computers. Recently we have started adding Windows clients to the network and now we wish to do the reverse i.e. access Windows shared areas from SGI computers, mainly for backup purposes. We are using Networker to take automated backups.

SGI irix and samba
Hi to all, I'm currently experimenting with implementing a samba server on an SGI o2 running irix 6.5.3. The reason for this is that i am trying to shed some load off a netware server currently serving files to 2 workgroups containing 40 people. One group is a Survey section that has 1.5 gig of Civil engineering and Autocad data - this data tends to be of a dynamic nature. I would like

defunct smbd processes on SGI
Hello We are running samba on SGI/SUN/HP fileservers. We saw a problem on the SGI fileservers. After a while a lot of defunct smbd deamons were hanging and occupying the slots in the process table. We saw the problem with IRIX 5.2 and samba 1.9.16p11 and IRIX 6.2 and samba 1.9.17.p4 . Has anybody seen this problem before? This is a serious problem, because the smbd daemons are filling the

findsmb on Linux different than on SGI?
We're running an older version of Samba on an Irix machine, and just got 2.0.2 working (finally!) on our Intel/Linux box. The odd thing, is that findsmb gives different results on the two systms. On Irix it lists the NetBIOS names with OS descriptions, but on Linux it lists the IP name and no OS description. I went through it line by line and found the first difference at: ../nmblookup -r
