[PATCH] xen: initialize platform_pci even if xen_emul_unplug=never
When xen_emul_unplug=never is specified on kernel command line reading files from /sys/hypervisor is broken (returns -EBUSY). It is caused by xen_bus dependency on platform_pci and platform_pci isn''t initialized when xen_emul_unplug=never is specified. Fix it by allowing platform_pcii to ignore xen_emul_unplug=never, and do not intialize xen_[blk|net]front instead. Signed-off-by: Igor

[LLVMdev] Dependence Analysis [was: Flow-Sensitive AA]
In the general case, I think you have to be conservative about this because programmers may deliberately want this kind of "wraparound" behavior, e.g., with periodic boundary conditions. But 99.9% of programs probably don't need that so it would be bad to penalize them for this corner case. In such a situation, I think you just have to support both choices, but choose the

[PATCH server] Fixed db-omatic so it doesn't die due to unhandled exceptions related to saving db objects in update_host_state and update_domain_state.
The underlying issue has to do with optimistic locking for active record, and contention between db-omatic and task-omatic. That still needs to be fixed, especially since contention issues might get worse when the two daemons are made multithreaded. --- src/db-omatic/db_omatic.rb | 22 +++++++++++++++++++--- 1 files changed, 19 insertions(+), 3 deletions(-) diff --git

[PATCH server] Fixed db-omatic so it doesn't die due to an unhandled ActiveRecord::StaleObjectError exception.
The error is caused by the save! method updating an object that another thread (most likely in taskomatic) already updated. In the case of this race condition, we retry saving. However, a proper fix would involve fixing the locking. --- src/db-omatic/db_omatic.rb | 23 ++++++++++++++++++++--- 1 files changed, 20 insertions(+), 3 deletions(-) diff --git a/src/db-omatic/db_omatic.rb

Xen 3.4 on Ubuntu 9.04
Hello, I have installed xen on ubuntu 9.04 according to the following howto: http://bderzhavets.wordpress.com/2009/08/14/attempt-of-prevu-xen-3-4-1-hypervisor-on-ubuntu-jaunty-server-64-bit/ Still, I cannot boot my dom0 properly. If I choose to boot xen with kernel 2.6.31 it first hangs, saying that my sata link is down, and all it can get is 1.5gigabit. And then I get a call trace with a lot

[patch] Initialize xen_vcpu0 before initialize irq_ops
Hello, I find a strange behavior. When a machine is slow (or with many debug traces or a qemu vm), a interrupt can occur between the pv_irq_ops initialization and the xen_vcpu[0] initialization. This lead to a problem because some operations in xen_irq_ops use xen_vcpu. I send you a patch to fix that but I''m not quite sure that is the right solution. Regards, Anthoine From

Rename lock_version field?
Hi, Is there a way to tell Rails that the magic field name for optimistic database locking is not lock_version? I have a legacy database where the optimistic locking field is named "version". Thanks, Phil -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Success : Ubuntu 17.10 x86_64 on LLVM/clang-built kernel with LLVM/clang-built Nvidia 390.25 driver
Hello All, This is about my successful experience in bringing up Ubuntu 17.10 x86_64 on the clang-built Linux 4.15.7 kernel(latest stable as of early March 2018) and clang-built proprietary Nvidia 390.25(latest as of early March 2018) driver for my Nvidia GTX GeForce 860M graphics card. I wanted to share the same here for any similarly interested people out here. By the way, appreciate the

Can I write Nothing to a variable?
Just wondering if it's possible to have an item with no content at all. Here's what I was hoping to do, inside a larger function that acts on a 3-D array. I want to enter, as one of the arguments to the main function, the index over which I'm going to do some action. For example, if the action were to calc a sum, I'd specify a given axis and report the sums along that axis

Implementing Optimistic Offline Lock - How ?
I understand that ActiveRecord supports the "optimistic offline lock"-pattern through magic fields (created_at, updated_at). However, a scaffolded CRUD-Controller doesn''t generate the necessary code to support this feature (the model state gets lost between two action calls). What is the best practice to prevent users from overwriting objects with outdated data ? --
