Xen 3.0.2 on AMD64 - and initrd fun :)
Mm, I have a big Quad-Opteron.. thing.. that I''m trying to get Xen onto. I''ve used the 3.0.2 binary-install mode, updated menu.lst as per the README, but I need an initrd which contains the HP cciss RAID driver, and no Xen initrd image was installed into /boot. Now I notice xen-3.0.2-2-install/install/lib/modules/2.6.16-xen/kernel/drivers /block/cciss.ko But I

clock, centos 4 and dual core?
Hi, I have a dual core athlon server and it is gaining 1 day every 2 days w/o time sync. Even with ntpd running, the time is not under control. I must put a very frequent cronjob of 'ntpdate' to keep the time under control. This creates big problems since winbind eventually stops working so my users can't access their data. Any ideas? -- Ugo -> Please don't send a copy of

Time synchronization issues in Samba 4
Hi, I configured my NTP server in samba 4 according to the article " https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Time_Synchronisation" however I verified that the NTP server does not respond to requests from Windows NTPv3 clients, it only responds to NTPv4. Following my ntp.conf: # /etc/ntp.conf, configuration for ntpd; see ntp.conf(5) for help driftfile /var/lib/ntp/ntp.drift # Enable this if

time synchronization problem (using NTP)
Hi, using SLES10 I''m unable to synchronize the time of DomU with that of Dom0. There is a persistent offset of about 3 seconds! I have a primary and a secondary DC, however I found that the time of the secondary DC is different from the primary. Do I need to install ntpdate in the secondary DC ? If positive, how I configure it? I'm using samba 4 on debian 7. How can I solve this problem Regards, Márcio Bacci

samba 4.5.0 on hpux ia64: Configuring time synchronization for samba AD DC
As mentioned in below link:- https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setting_up_Samba_as_an_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller I am trying to synchronize time for Kerberos with NTP. But NTP(4.2.6) supported on hpux is not build with enabled signed ntp support *(**--enable-ntp-signd)* for time synchronization mechanism. What would be the impact if i don’t configuring time synchronization for Samba

Linux Kernel Timer Frequency and Asterisk
Ok here is a real geek question, I building my own linux kernel for my asterisk system and came across the kernel setting for the timer frequency. I have one of 3 hardcode choices 100Hz, 250 Hz and 1000Hz. From what I understand the default Freq was changed from 100Hz in kernel 2.4 to 1000Hz (1KHz) in kernel 2.6. Timing is a BIG issue in asterisk with all the TDM and zap channel stuff.

Recommendations for kernel config
Hi, I'm building a test asterisk server and building the latest kernel I got to wonder if there are any specific recommendations about schedulers and so forth for optimum performance. There are a few areas that raise questions in my mind and I wonder if anyone has any opinions/comments on which settings are most suitable for use with asterisk: SLAB Allocator (SLAB or SLUB?) Systemd
So I've built my first CentOS 7 host and am learning all the new ways of doing things. I setup and enabled ntpd but after a reboot I get: $ systemctl status ntpd ntpd.service - Network Time Service Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/ntpd.service; enabled) Active: inactive (dead) After issuing: $ systemctl start ntpd Ntpd runs just fine. But why isn't it loading at boot
