ActionMailer works for gmail/yahoo, but not for other email addresses...HELP!
I have a rails app that can send emails to gmail, yahoo accounts. But when it comes to more obscure accounts like email-VB3JyQctZj/QT0dZR+AlfA@public.gmane.org or email-yvl6RSr0Ftk@public.gmane.org, the mail never arrives even though the log shows that the email was sent. Any ideas why this may be happening? I have sent an email directly through the same web server through the command line

Line breaks removed from ActionMailer template
I''ve been googling and searching this list for about an hour now, and maybe I''m just not thinking of the common nomenclature for what to be looking for, but I can''t find jack. Here''s the deal: I''ve got an application coded correctly, sending the mail out, and the template is structured correctly (method_name.erb is the filename) with LF line breaks

ActionMailer and Dreamhost

In my environment.rb config file, I am pointing to my smtp server on Dreamhost: ActionMailer::Base.delivery_method = :sendmail ActionMailer::Base.server_settings = { :address => ''mail.domain.info'', :port => 25, :domain =>

Error when creating a new worker -- "Text is not a module - (TypeError)"
Hello everyone, I''m stuck with this very obscure error whenever I try to create a new worker. My worker is a subclass of BackgrounDRb::Worker::RailsBase, and if you follow the stack trace below, you can tell that the error occurs while trying to load Rails. There is no problem starting up the server, by the way. Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this? I didn''t have

"Text is not a module"
Hello all, After upgrading to Rails 1.2.2, I''m getting a strange error when one of my workers is invoked. The worker is responsible for monitoring a folder (using directory_watcher) and emailing a specific user when a file is dropped there, but it''s bombing immediately upon instantiation (or maybe when trying to instantiate ActionMailer?) with the error "Text is not a

scheduled jobs with cron
I''m very interested in using backgroundrb for running jobs every n minutes. The release notes say that this functionality is not yet ready via backgroundrb. But I wonder, can I call backgroundrb with a ruby script from cron ? I know I could create a cron job that calls lynx (or whatever) on a specific page that will call backgroundrb, but I want to know if there other

ActionMailer undefined method `parameters' - Rails 2.1
Hello Rubyists, I''m currently trying to get email hooked up via ActionMailer, and while I''ve gotten it to work in the past on Rails 1.2.x, I''m seeing an error that I''m unfamiliar with. Right now, I''m just trying to send email from my dev box via the SMTP server at work. My development.rb file: #...snip config.action_mailer.delivery_method = :smtp

Action Mailer Driving me insane
Ok, maybe its a short walk, not a drive... I have it working just fine using smtp in development env from my OSX machine. When I deploy it to the server (which happens to be the same box where the smtp server lives), no email, no errors, nothing in the Postfix logs. I''ve double checked that my production and development action mailer settings are identical. Here''s whats in the

Persistence of scheduled jobs?
Hello all, I''m new to Ruby and have come across this project that seems to be the most mature scheduling project for Ruby. I''ve had some brief experience with Quartz for Java and was wondering if there were any plans to provide an option to save scheduled jobs into some sort of data store? If not, is that something the project would be interested in? Has someone

trouble using ActiveRecord classes
I''ve been trying unsuccessfully for the better part of today to write a worker that can use by ActiveRecord model classes. The bizarre thing is that worker just stops at the point accessing the database connection. An exception isn''t raising, it just dies. My worker class is below, I''ve interspersed log messages throughout to try to determine where it is dying. =====

worker starting twice
Hi gang, Thanks to other help I''ve gotten on this list, I''ve got backgroundrb up and running using postgres alongside my rails app. I''ve designed the system to have several eternally-running workers that periodically poll the database to see if there''s any work for them to do, and set things up in the config file to make them restart quickly if any of them

loading C extension in worker causes bus error on OS X only
In all likelihood, this doesn''t have anything to do with backgroundrb, but I''m stuck so I thought someone might be able to help. I have a pretty simple C extension that I built into a gem and have installed on my system. It works fine when required from rails (1.2.1). But when I have a Backgroundrb worker class use the extension (under os x), I get:

Intermittent "can''t convert Float into Hash" and results.rb
Hi, I''m using backgroundrb 0.2.1 in a production environment and for most parts I''m very happy. We are using it to do some heavy video editing on the server side and it works great except that under, what seems heavy load the below problem happens intermittently. The problem has only happened 5 times out of over 500 runs by our backgroundrb worker. This is the code in our

Yet Another Problem with BackgroundRB
Hi! My cron-based worker is being indeed invoked by backgroundRB at correct times. But... After several runs it can no longer find DB columns! The same query, which was running OK an hour ago starts to throw MySQL error about unkown column in where clause. If I restart backgroundrb it works for some time but stops working after several invocations. Has anyone epxerienced the similar beahviour?
