Best way to exploit VT chip
Chaps,
I finally have access to a VT enabled box. What would be the best way
to get the most out of Xen and VT? A number of questions here. Bear
with me. They may seem simple but all I did previously was get the
source code, study it a bit, read the README and build from source.
Now that I have a dual-core machine how does Xen know how to split
resources for the instances?
Does one give any

I have a self built system using an Intel D 920 processor and a MB that
supports VT. I''m able to run HVM domains fine, but have trouble getting

pci passthrough under xen-3.3 without VT-d
Hi all!
I''m hoping someone here might be able to help. I''m familiar with several UNIX''es, though farily new to Linux...
I''m running RHEL 5.2. I''ve got the RHEL kernel headers installed, etc, and compiled xen-3.3.
Once that was built, I rebuilt libvirt, etc, the kernel, and all the modules. The whole mess boots and runs fine... mostly.

Problem bringing up 32-bit Sles 9 on a Dom-VT
All,
We are facing some issues bringing up a DomVT on Xen x86_64(changeset
9267).
We created a disk image with dd 8 G in size.
We then booted an associated Dom-VT with a CD-ROM and did net-install of
the sles-9 OS.
This completes successfully.
Then, when the system is brought around for a reboot (having changed the
boot option from cdrom to disk), the system hangs after the line

Intel VT (Vanderpool) hardware
Xen 3.0 is supposed to support Intel VT (Vanderpool)
hardware.
I can not find any place that has these Intel CPUs or
systems.
Anyone know where to get Intel VT (Vanderpool) CPUs or
systems?

Hello,
I have been working sometime now on getting a HVM accepting a PCI card from
the host. As was said in the VT-D wiki I bought an ASUS P5E VM DO
motherboard (rel 0803) which has the VT-D option in the bios. I want to pass
a Hauppauge PVR 500 card to a virtual machine running LinuxMCE. After first
trying XEN 3.2.1 which did not enable the "VT-D virtualisation" bit in xm

VT-d not working
Hello there,
I am using a Gigabyte H55M-UD2H (Intel H55-Chipset) together with a
Core-i5-650.
According to Gigabyte Support the Mainboard does support VT-d. Well,
actually support says, that VT-d does work on Windows-7 in XP-Mode.
They do not test and support Linux though.
Did anybody here have success using VT-d on any H55-Board?
Perhaps it is some misconfiguration on my side. I tried a

help VMX guest and networking xen 3.0.1
Hi, I''m working with Xen 3.0.1 and I have the following problem:
I''m running Xen in a VT enabled Intel processor, I have successful
installed a Fedora Core 4 32 bits Guest using VT. But the
Network interface doesn''t appear in the Guest. I mean, running the
commands "ifconfig –a" doesn''t show any eth0 interface just lo.

CPU/VCPU sharing
Hi All,
I am new to Xen, and would like to know if anyone can help with a problem I have.
I have a dual - Quad Core Intel 5535 VT 2.66 server, with 24G ram running CentOS5 dom0 and domU (both 64 bit). Everything works great and I am SUPER impressed with the efficiency of Xen (i have always been a UML man). I would however, like to run a single domU domain, with a single VCPU, but get the power

VT-d support in HVM?
Hi,
I''ve recently setup a few machines with 3.2 64bit without any unresolvable problem.
These machines all run pv domU''s and a view "basic" hvm domUs.
As I''ve got one machine left for internal use and testing, I would like to take a
look at pciback with VT-d support (bios screen shows a VT-d [enable|disable]).
My question is, do I need to add patches, or use

"near native" performance with xen?
Just wondering if there was a howto or other URL that
explains what is needed to achieve "near native" performance
on a xen domU -- for this purpose, I am thinking about a
single domU running on a physical server, in comparison to
that same physical server running the same kernel but
non-xenified.
For instance, using a physical partition for VBD v. using a
file-backed one is one

VGA passthrough - guest shows blank screen on startup
Greetings,
I''m attempting to do gfx_passthru with the primary graphics adapter
(03:00.0), passing it to a guest. I can unbind it from the host but when I
fire up the guest OS my monitor loses signal from the graphics card and
that''s that. The GFX card is dual DVI, I''ve tried both slots. Host is Linux

Xen-3.2.1 VT-d Support (NOT SURE WHETHER IT''S A BUG OR ...)
After building Xen-3.2.1 I could successfully boot into it if I avoid giving vtd=1 as the boot parameter.
If I pass vtd=1 as the boot parameter to xen, the system hangs while booting.
The system hangs after the following messages
