Submitting patches from upstream fixes/bugs
What is the preferred method for submitting patches from upstream projects ? I have two patches for libvirt-0.8.1.el6_0.6. One adds ESX 4.1 support to things like virt-v2v ( http://www.redhat.com/archives/libvir-list/2010-July/msg00480.html) and the second fixes the broken "virsh snapshot-create" ( https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=727709). All I did really was get them to

Installing RPM using --prefix and possible libvirt patch
I'm trying to install libvirt to /opt/libvirt, in order to test a patch I've worked into the current release, but it seems RPM is ignoring the --prefix command. The RPM I built has "Prefix: /opt/libvirt" in the spec, and correctly shows as relocatable by RPM... # rpm -qpi libvirt-0.8.1-27.el6.6.x86_64.rpm Name : libvirt Relocations: /opt/libvirt

Good Day All, Today I looked at the dmesg log and I notice that the following messages regarding mtrr_gran_size/mtrr_chunk_size. I am currently running CentOS 6.3 and I installed CentOS 6.2 and 6.1 and I was seeing the same errors. 6.2 x86_64 "mtrr_cleanup: can not find optimal value"
Hi, I have server that has been running 5.x - 5.8 for a few years without issue and decided to move it to a fresh install of 6.2. First thing I noticed is a good part of the log has these mtrr messages finally ending with "mtrr_cleanup: can not find optimal value" and "please specify mtrr_gran_size/mtrr_chunk_size". I have been searching around and reading the kernel docs

WinVista consider soft limit as hard limit
Hi, We are using samba-3.0.28a on linux-2-6-18 with which WinVista, as CIFS client, see the soft limit as hard limit and doesn't allow data transfer. Is there a fix already available for this? If not, could you pls gimme some pointers to fix this issue? Thanks, Senthil M Please do not print this email unless it is absolutely necessary. The information contained in this electronic message

Profiles on quota, hard or soft limit?
[i'm not subscribe to this list, please put me on CC...] I've asked this on samba-it (italian) mailing list, but with no clue. In my installation (debian sarge, samba 3.0.14a, kernel 2.6 and xfs filesystem) i've put roaming profile on quotas, and something i think strange happens. The client say to the user that cannot update the profile, also if it was under the soft (and hard)

Why does ARC grow above hard limit?
I would appreciate if somebody can clarify a few points. I am doing some random WRITES (100% writes, 100% random) testing and observe that ARC grows way beyond the "hard" limit during the test. The hard limit is set 512 MB via /etc/system and I see the size going up to 1 GB - how come is it happening? mdb''s ::memstat reports 1.5 GB used - does this include ARC as well or is

Hard limit for the cpu usage of a VM
Hi , I was previously using xen and currently moved to KVM. I am using libvirt to manage these VMs. In den's credit scheduler , I had the ability to set a cap on the cpu usage for a VM. But I was not able to find a similar substitute in KVM. I find that we can use cgroups to provide shares for VM but that will be more like weight based and it doesn't set a hard cap for that VM. I tried

Hard memory limit of 16GB under Windows?
Hi Samuel, please also have a look at ?memory.limit. You can set this limit at R startup. It is in megabytes. Maybe R Studio sets it at runtime. Dovecot 2.0.9 Quota Limit issues
Hello, I've tried searching for information regarding this problem but haven't found anything. Currently I have a Dovecot 2.0.9 with virtual users from a SQL table. Right now I'm only using global quota limits. Here is my quota setup: plugin { quota = maildir:User quota quota_rule = *:storage=3G quota_rule2 = Trash:storage=+100M quota_rule3 = Archive:storage=+1G

Hard memory limit of 16GB under Windows?
Dear Samuel, The most important information from your mail was the actual error message: "cannot allocate vector of size 12.6 Gb". You'll need to know what code generated this error message. And then figure out if the code does something sensible. Often that is not the case when you get a similar error message. Best regards, ir. Thierry Onkelinx Statisticus / Statistician

[LLVMdev] Optimising bit-flipping code
Hi, I'm compiling a large code base that uses tagged data, with the tag in the two lowest bits. I.e. ints are shifted two steps to the left and have 2 in the tag bits, pointers have 0 in the tag bits, etc. When I compile the code, I notice that there are places where -O3 doesn't remove unnecessary tag bit tests and manipulations, when they are performed with bitwise manipulation (which

Hard memory limit of 16GB under Windows?
Hi, I am not not sure whether this topic belongs to this mail list, but I feel the subscribers here should be the right audience. I noticed that the memory limit reported under Windows is 16 GB. I am wondering how to increase it. I didn't found anything in Rprofile.site nor .Rprofile. Is this limit hard coded at compilation? Best, Samuel [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

Rsync & time-limit : timeout instead of run-time limit
Hi there, I use rsync to push files from remote servers. I added "run-time" patch to stop running at 8 am. If run goes to 8am, I should received a "run-time limit exceeded" error. But, half the time, I get : rsync: [sender] write error: Broken pipe (32) rsync error: timeout in data send/receive (code 30) at io.c(829) [sender=3.1.1] == Error at 08:00:15 == I passed
