strange behaviour of domU - i/o performance tests
Hi,
I am currently making some i/o performance tests within domUs with iozone3.
One scenario is a domU with file-backed VBDs (root and swap) as sda1 and sda2
lying on an nfs-kernel-server (2.6.14.4 - Debian Sarge).
The exact iozone command is:
iozone -a -R -b result.xls -f /tmp/iozone.test -n 1m -g 256m -i 0 -i 1
As soon as the iozone-test comes to a filesize of 132M, the complete! system

live migration with xen 2.0.7 with fibre channel on Debian - help needed
Hi,
I''d like to test the stability of live migration during heavy load of domU.
scenario:
- both dom0s and domU are running on Debian Sarge.
- script on dom0 triggers live-migration to the other dom0
- domU is running I/O tests, e.g. bonnie++
- domUs root- (ext3) and swap fs is stored on two partitions in a san
- san is connected using fibre channel cards to both dom0s
- san in dom0

RE: live migration with xen 2.0.7 with fibre channel onDebian - help needed
I had this exact same problem with 2.0.7. I had done a little investigation and found scheduled_work gets called to schedule the shutdown in the user domain kernel, but the shutdown work that gets scheduled never actually gets called. I''m glad someone else is seeing this same problem now :-) Like you, it worked a number of times in a row, then would fail, and it didn''t seem to

domU''s on SLES 10.0b3 crashing dom0
Hi all,
I installed SLES 10.0b3 with XEN on some test-systems and created a SLES
10.0b3-image for use with domU''s.
The installation and booting of this domU was no problem, but on some
systems the host dom0 restarts if I generate some IP-traffic from the guest.
This happens on an old AMD Athlon 1,3GHz, an old Intel P3 and an Intel
desktop with P4 HT/VT/EM64T but not on an Intel

Asterisk build-environment in Xen-DomU
Hi,
I'm trying to migrate a Asterisk build-environment from a physical to a
paravirtualized machine on Xen 3.0 - on this system Asterisk don't need
to run at all, it is only for building RPMs.
Host OS and guest OS both are CentOS 5.2.
The build of Asterisk, Asterisk-addons and Zaptel works, but MeetMe and
some other components are not compiled because Zaptel was not installed

AMD SVN and Xen3
So, as promised, here an first summary.
Hardware: AMD Athlon64 X2-4600+ with Asus M2N-Mainboard.
Just a short hint: By far not all memory modules work with the Asus
boards! Make sure to have compatible ones...
After 2 days of trial and error I got the following results:
Debian "Sarge" x64: Doesn''t like the new nVidia SATA-Controller (will
check today with PATA-interface)

It is possible to install Windows XP with intel vt now ?
Hi everybody,
I seen many post on running Windows XP on the top of Xen with proper
hardware (Intel Vt) ... I would like to know if at this time, i could do
that with Xen 3.0.2-2 or Xen unstable ? If yes, could you tell me the
procedure ...
In 2 week i will make a show with Intel to demonstrate this possibility ...
If at this time we couldn''t, i will change the contents of the show ;)

"xm save" works on Windows guest?
Hi,
I''ve tried to do "xm save" on my Windows XP guest, which runs by ioemu. When
I did this,

Sharing a partition between dom0 and domU
Hi!
I''m currently preparing to xen installation. In the system that I''m
going to set up, there will be a need to copy large amounts of data
(therefore I want to avoid using network) from domUs to the dom0 (one
way only).
Mounting a filesystem RO, when a domU has it mounted RW is probably
asking for trouble. Therefore I was thinking about using some remounting
protocol similar

Tutorial : Debian, Xen and CLUSTER / GFS Support
Hello there!
I made Debian, Xen 2.0 and CLUSTER/GFS work together :). I wrote
this little tutorial to help you setup yours. Any feedback is welcome,
except comments about W3C validation of my code :p
Note that I am talking about compiling CLUSTER with your XEN kernel,
I don''t explain how to setup a working cluster. You can find how to setup
those in official RedHat docs.

How to create a coredump for Asterisk
Hi everybody,
sometimes we have an Asterisk-crash, but no clue why this is happening,
so I'm trying to make a coredump to analyse it.
I compiled Asterisk 1.4.20.1 on CentOS 5.4 i386 with "DEBUG_THREADS" and
"DONT_OPTIMIZE", then I start it with:
# /bin/bash /usr/sbin/safe_asterisk
This should do an "ulimit -c unlimited", but I entered it in the
terminal again.

Numbering of releases
Am I right in thinking that the numbering of the versions are in synch
with the gcc version that one is recommened to build with? In other
words "use gcc version 3.foo".

xen, VT and an OS from Redmond
Hi there
We''re planning to buy a new server with a PentiumD with VT.
Unfortunately we have some legacy server software which runs on Windows
only and for that reason I have to install WindowsXP under Xen3.
The problem is that I didn''t find too much documentation (tutorials,
howtos, whatever) which describes installation and experiences with
WinXP, besides some problem

Unmodified 2003/2000/FC5 on XEN 3.0.2
I can see that Windows Loads in VM and when I run in safe mode it
reaches until loading
multi(0)\disk(0)\rdisk(0)\partition(1)\Windows\system32\drivers\Mup.sys
After this it hangs.Attached is the qemulog.
Note : These VM''s are running out of a complete disk (/dev/sdb), which
has working installation of Windows on it!
I am running FC5 along with Xen 3.0.2 (tried unstable too) on

Windows Multi-Processor under XEN??
I am running the latest unstable XEN on a 16X Intel XEON machine with HT
enabled. I installed W2K3 (x86 version) quite easily but
I am having the hardest time getting more than a 1X to work. I change
the vcpus in the config file to 4 or 8, but I can never get
Windows VM to come up.
I''ve tried installing with 4 vcpus. I tried installing with 4 vcpus and
manually selecting the MPS HAL

Building Asterisk-RPM for 1.4.24.1
Hi everybody,
quite frequently I build customized RPMs with asterisk-1.4.20.1
including some special patches for it, to install the on CentOS 5.
Now I was looking to upgrade to asterisk-1.4.24.1, but the RPM-build is
not working anymore with my build environement.
In version 1.4.22 the "Makefile" was modified and all the RPM-stuff was
removed, same for the

ISDN-FAX with Asterisk
Hi everybody,
since some time I am looking for a current and reliable solution to send
and receive faxes (probably fax-2-mail and mail-2-fax) in conjunction
with Asterisk.
For testing I am using a HFC-ISDN passive PCI-card, in production a
Digium Dual T1/E1 PCI-card will be used.
I run CentOS 5.5 (Kernel 2.6.18) and Asterisk 1.4 (but I also can use
1.8) but did not find any solution where I
