CPU0 is toast error message
# grub.conf generated by anaconda I recently tried installing xen on another machine and I''m getting the "CPU0 is toast rebooting in 5 seconds" message. Reading through past postings, I was hopeful setting the dom0_mem=128M would solve the problem. Unfortunately, it didn''t make a difference. I haven''t fooled with anything on this system -- just a fresh FC4

Xen Installation problems
Hello Xen Users, I am facing a problem getting my installation of XEN boot up on a Red Hat Linux Guest OS. What''s happening is that the grub loader tries to install Xen but after a while it crashes and starts rebooting recursively. I have tried both the entries listed below. I am using the following entries in the grub.conf file: title Xen-bhatia 3.0 / XenLinux-bhatia 2.6.16

Kernel Panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
Hello Xen users, I tried to install Xen 3.1.0 on Scientific Linux (RHEL4), but this mission failed.. Hope you can help me by finding the reason for my problem. I downloaded the xen sources from http://bits.xensource.com/oss-xen/release/3.1.0/src.tgz/xen-3.1.0-src.tgz and compiled them by running "make" and "./install.sh". This seemed to work. After setting up grub like

Megacli issue with Xen PERC 5/i Poweredge 2950 II
I am having an issue with Megacli when adding or removing virtual disks. I will post a link to fpaste that has the issue shown. In brief whenever i add, or remove, a virtual disk via MegaCli the attempt succeeds and the adapter is configured but the OS remounts dm-0 in read only. dm-0 is my root lv. This issue does not happen if i boot into the default, non Xen, CentOS kernel. On stock

xen kernel panics at boot
Hi. I am trying to install xen 2.0.5 and am having problems getting the xen kernel to boot. It seems to come up, recognize the PCI bus info, the CPU, memory, and such, and then halts when it gets to trying to mount NFS. It then asks for a boot floppy. My guess is that it is not finding the / partition. The actual kernel panic string, I don''t have because the screen blanks so

Dumping Xen dom0 kernel output to serial console
Hi- I am having a weird problem with setting dom0 kernel output to the serial console with Xen 3.0.4-1, below is my grub setting. With this setting if I don''t enter the grub menu and have the default boot to the first image, everything works fine and I can get output/input to the serial console. The problem is when I enter the grub menu and select the image to boot from, if I

RAM problem
Dear All, I''m new to XEN and I''m trying to get it work under gentoo 2006.0 with a patched 2.16.18-xen kernel. My system does not recognize my 2G of RAM. It only sees 512M! Adding mem=2G or mem=2000M to grub.conf did not help at all. The system continues to see only the dom0_mem=512M Can you explain me why? My grub.conf entry looks like this: title=Xen root (hd0,0) kernel

Hi all, I have an odd problem, for which I couldn't find any suggestions on google. A CentOS 5.7x64 gives me a blank screen on bootup, both to the 17" LCD monitor connected to the VGA port, and to the KVMOVIP device built-into the server, I can see the GRUB boot loader, and everything booting up, upto the point where it says "Waiting for driver initialization.", then it goes

Problem with dom0_mem and tmpfs on SLES10
Hello friends! In this week, i had a problem with Xen version 3.0.2_09749-0.7 on SLES10 for x86, when the initrd-xen file was loaded. On console, various messages about "No space left on device" appears later that the "/dev" was monted on a tmpfs filesystem (for udev). The only sollution for this problem at that moment, was remove the "dom0_mem=192M" and the

SuSE 10 dom0 network and console problem
Hello, I have a problem getting the domain 0 (dom0) of xen running with SuSE 10. I have a SuSE 10 installation, which runs. When I switch to the xen kernel, the network does not work any more. Also the serial console does not work any more. If I login to the PC through (a very lousy) KVM, I can do local stuff, but the network does not work. (Ok, I can ping my own IP Address.) e.g. nslookup

Centos 5.5, not booting latest kernel but older one instead
I've been going along not noticing things happening right under my nose. so imagine my surprise when I discovered last night that my Centos 5 box has installed multiple new kernels over the last few months, as updates come out, and IT IS NOT BOOTING THE NEWST ONE. grub.conf says to boot kernel 0, and 0 is the newest one. but the one it actually boots is 6 or 8 down the list (clearly I've
