How vifX.Y and eth talk on dom0 with NAT configuration?
Hi, in the official XenNetworking (
http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenNetworking ) i didn''t find reported
how the NAT configuration works with xen.
Does anybody know how the vifX.Y (10.X.X.128), gateway of any domU ethX
(10.X.X.1) talk with the real ethX of the dom0?
Thanks
Enrico

Samba PDC problem
Easy one.
I have win98 clients that login and connect to the shares fine. My problem
is the user home directory, each user can see their folders and can even
open them but they cannot save to their home directory. Each users home dir
is setup as 0700 (-rwx------), as are the files and subdir's, which I
believe is Read, Write, Execute for the owner of the file. What am I
missing?
Chris.

Xen and LVM, bug at arch/x86/xen/mmu.c:1649?
I have a kernel BUG() most of the time when updating my LVM configuration.
I created a bug report on kernel linux-2.6 package as it looked related to
kernel; but searching through bug reports, it look like it's Xen related.
- No similar bug report about LVM crash for non-xen user
- Other Xen users have similar errors:

[Libvir] libvirt & vde_switch
Hi,
I would like to ask about status of VDE and libvirt. I found a thread
from http://www.redhat.com/archives/libvir-list/2008-February/msg00030.html.
I am not interested in connecting the VDE to the outside world. I have
created a FW machine using macvtap. To this machine I would like to
attach machines from different zones (dmz, prod, cust). I was thinking
on using VDE and vlans (FW would

Restrict extranet connection to a group
Hello,
I have a question about sshd and I'm unable to find an answer, I checked the
man page, the FAQ, the archives of the mailing list without success.
I'm in a small organization with a single server (Stable Linux Debian). It's
connected to two networks: local-network and internet.

Giving a domU direct access to a NIC
Hello,
I am experimenting with Snort and other IDS and I would like to use Xen for
these tests. This would require me to use port mirroring to sent a bunch of
packets to a NIC located on my Xen machine.
I don''t really know how Xen networking works, but is it possible to give a
domU direct access to a NIC ? Or at least give it enough access so that it
can see packets that are not for the

802.1q on gentoo
Hi,
I have a box with XEN enabled.
Specs :
Gentoo 10.0 AMD64
XEN 4.0.0
The server is connected on our network through two physicals NIC. Actually, I''m using a VLAN on each NIC and bridge the domU in it.
But now I must create an additional domU which should be in an different VLAN. The best solution is to set a trunk on the switch and use 802.1q directly on the dom0.

Hi,
I''m a newbie to Xen and I need some help. I saw user ''datto'' had a similar
problem but changed to FC4 to resolve it.
I''m currently running FC3 and Xen2.0.7. I did the usual ''make install'' and I
can boot into Xen dom0. However, my network card is not working. The driver
is found in the linux-2.6.11.12-xen0 tree but not selected. I

what the H is this virbr0?
Hi,
I just tested in the lab the new CentOS 5.1 Xen and find out it breaks
network connectivity, at least in my setup.
It seems it is somehow making use of the 3.1 Xen version (altought I am
not sure about that) but whatever changes it introduce is not documented
at the location one would expect, the obvious new thing (at least for
me) is this thing I will call out of guessing a virtual

How to work with VLANs and several nic Interfaces ?
Hi all,
I have xen2.0.7 running in a fedora core 3 !
I have dom0 and domU running fine and communicating between each other as
well between other machines on diferent networks.
Still i want to improve my network setup and i start reading manuals and
malling lists about bridging and vlans configuration!
I have two nics each one associated to eth0 and eth1.
Eth0 -> Vlan A

bridge interfaces in dom0
Hi. I have another question, hopefully easier than my last:
Do all physical interfaces in dom0 need to have an IP addresse in
order to be used
as a bridge by guest domains?
I thought that the interface would have to merely be "up" but not
necessarily have an
IP address configured since bridging is done at layer 2. But alas, if
I don''t configure
an IP address on dom0 the bridge

httx, iiimf, and Japanese input still not working
Japanese input - the final frontier. This is the last obstacle before I
can work completely within Centos and be free of Windows.
But it's still not working.
To cut to the chase, in my quest to get Japanese working, I came across
the following:

... where someone says:

Multiple Bridges and Multiple physical nic''s
Hello,
I was following the steps on creating a new bridge and attaching a
physical nic to it.

if you want to use multiple bridges, you must create them yourself,
either manually, or via your own startup script, or via a custom
script to replace network-bridge.

Xen 4.1.0, multiple network interfaces, network-bridge failing to create multiple bridges
Hi *,
having built Xen 4.1.0 and running my Dom0 on Slackware 13.1, I''m
trying to assign different physical network interfaces to different
DomU guests:
vif = [ ''bridge=ethX'' ]
in the DomU configuration files.
My /etc/xen/scripts/network-bridge script, however, doesn''t create more
than one bridge:

I encountered same error when use Xen3.0.2(source file) on CentOS4.2, after I downgraded to Xen2.0.7(source file), this error disappeared. now, I am using Xen2.0.7 instead of 3.0.2, it works well.

Wiki - where to add user documentation?
Hi
I would like to add some documentation to the xensource wiki.
In particular I would like to add some notes on setting up
firewalling on a Xen machine using a SuSE 9.3 dom0.
(this is the Distribution I am familiar with)
I can''t see an appropriate place linked off the front page
to add this stuff. Also I can''t edit the front page itself
to add a new catagory because it is
