Noob Question: REgarding Forms ( Take 2 )
I''m hoping there''s an easy way to do this. I''m trying to read options from a database, and insert them into form tags. So for example, In the Database Table: options size: 300 type: text_field maxsize: 300 and I want to create a text_field form tag, with all the appropriate options, is there an easy way to do this, other than having the code output the HTML

n-to-m relationships in Forms
Hi, I can''t understand the RoR-API concerning certain form helpers. Can you maybe help me? I have a model, Film, with a habtm-relationship to the model Language. Now if I want to have a form for editing/creating a Film, I''d like to have checkboxes for each Language with those checked that are associated with the Film in question. Is there an "easy" way to do this

related to forms
I''m trying to construct a form that would request a page using GET and would like my variables to be simple like q,v, etc so that the URL it calls is something like: /controller/action?q=80&v=100 However, I''m having trouble using the basic form helpers (probably doing something wrong) cos expressions such as: <%= hidden_field "q", "v", {:value

Liquid templates and forms
I have started to experiment with Liquid templates and all goes fine as long as I just display my stuff. But I want to get user input (using forms), and I couldn''t figure out so far whether and how liquid facilitates the use of forms, something like the form helper tags in .rhtml. Anybody knows about that ? -- Roberto Saccon - http://rsaccon.com -------------- next part --------------

Form helpers don''t work with facade columns?
Hello all, I''ve been trying to use a facade column but I notice that the form helpers don''t seem to respect the facade. In the following example I''m trying to story the prices as Integer values but present them to the user as decimals. class Product < ActiveRecord::Base def price=(new_price) write_attribute(:price, Float(new_price)*100) end def price

Loop Distribution pass
>I'm just curious as tho which concrete passes would benefit sooner. This all depends on those who are working on other loop xforms, since we currently don't have bandwidth to drive that kind of changes into other loop xforms. That's why when this line of questions pops up, I offer to work together. Short of that, the best we can proactively do is to make vectorizer analyses

Problem with IE forms over SSL: rails + lighttpd
If I submit a form with lots of checkboxes using IE, rails, lighttpd (server on OSX Server, client on XP), then I get a "This page cannot be displayed" message from IE after some delay and nothing shows up in the rails or lighttpd logs. Cutting the number of checkboxes fixes the problem. Safari works fine. I''ve googled for anwers and apparently there is an upload problem

Forms with and without Models and Error Handling
Hi, I currently programming a delicious clone to understand ruby on rails. The problem I''ve got is that I prefill a form (form without models) without a database connection and then save it into the database. For validation i am using the validation helper methods. My Problem is that i don''t know how I get the error hash from the helper method validates... etc. because I

forms that mix new and old records
I''m trying to create a form/view that displays a mix of records that exist in the database and records that the user is working on but that don''t yet exist in the database. I want to leverage all of rails'' nice form helpers, especially the params hash that it generates for the records when the form is submitted. So - I am creating ''dummy'' records with

Custom forms and fieldWithErrors tags
Hi, (probably) A newbie questions: I have a form where a user can choose an email address, but there are only some choices for the domain, so I wrote a helper where the local part of the email is a text field and the domains is a dropdown list, like: Select Email: [ my_name ] @ <domain.com> ..which I defined as a helper: def email_form(tagname, domain_list)

Multipart forms by default?
Forms without explicit enctype are submitted as application/x-www-form- urlencoded. This is the default behaviour in Rails. However, this enctype does not allow transmission of binary data (files). Would it not make sense to specify the enctype multipart/form-data by default instead? i.e. all the form_for helpers would add this enctype to the form tag, unless overriden by the developer. This
