Virtual Interface
Hi Guys,
I want to create multiple virtual interfaces on a system running linux 2.6.
The main requirment being, to assign unique MAC address fo each of the
virtual interfaces.
I need to know, if this is possible and will really appriciate if someone
can provide me pointer in this direction.
Thanks a lot.

Server with 2 Nics (continuation)
Hi *.*,
This is a continuation on the 2 NICs thread after some more testing.
Just to remember my goal.
---------------------------
I want to create a domU with 2 virtual NICS. One of them will contact
the outside world, the other one will contact a VPN. No reason in
concrete for choosing the bridging protocol, only because its the
default one. I installed the dom0 with the 2 NICs active, with

Compiling sch_tbf.c in user space
Hi,
I am new to kernel programming.
My task is to route packets from different hosts
through one single token bucket filter as we are
trying to model a wireless scenario with many hosts
communicating and sharing the same bandwidth. So the
idea we came up with was to route packets from
different hosts to user space using Netfilter and then
send them through a common tbf implemented in user
space in

lvm in xenU
Hello,
we are experimenting with lvm in xenU in order to make snapshots for
database replication etc.
So far this works as fine as on a physical machine, but is there any way
to see the xenU-PVs in dom0 or even access the data of a xenU-LV in dom0
? (dom0 also is set up on LVM)
Thank you,
Holger

Do I need a xenU initrd image?
Hi,
I just created a Xen domU using http to install over the network. How
do I now restart the domU and use the installed OS? I gather I need a
initrd image to boot my guest. I''ve found bits and pieces of answers to
my question referring to mkinitrd, but none seem to work.
I am running Scientific Linux 5.
Thanks in advance,
Cam

Xen :Am not able to create a XenU DomainforFedoraCore 4
hello:
Its me again! I was suggested that i run /usr/sbin/xm destroy rawhide or /usr/sbin/xm destroy 3. This worked. I was able to boot the VM running the same kernel as Dom0 is running after copying the /lib/modules directory to the VM''s image.
Anyone know how you determine the difference between a priviledged domain such as Dom0...1...2 and an unpriviledged domain?

ISDN card in xenu domain
I want to test asterisk (open source pbx) and the simplest way to do so
is just to create a new domain and install it there. After some testing
I''d like to put an ISDN card in and connect it to the real world. Is
there anything about an ISDN card that would make it not work at all
under xen, and what would I have to do to make it work under a domain
other than 0?
Finally, assuming the

How to simply compile a 2.4.18 custom kernel in the xenU way
Hello,
I am brand new to Xen, i first hear of it 3 days ago, and install it
yesterday for the first time from the source code.
My aim is to get ride of vmware for some "maquetage" (french word meaning
modelling a platform before deploying it).
My only problem is that i need to use a custom kernel, an old
2.4.18specific one.
And I am wondering what is the easiest way to generate a xenU

digi dgrp on XenU RHEL3 DDK
Trying to install a digi dgrp driver on RHEL3 runing the XenU kernel. I am looking for a DDK that has the RHEL3 kernel (version 2.4) in it. All the DDK''s available for download use a kernel version 2.6.

2.6.16 nor FC5 -xenU kernel will start under 3.0-testing
I tried building a 2.6.16 kernel from -unstable and also the -xenU
kernel provided by FC5 and both will not run under 3.0-testing
(changeset 8761:484a14acfc26).
The 2.6.16 kernel will start and die with nothing of value in xend.log
or xend-debug.log. If I run "xm create name -c" it will say it can''t
open "/dev/pts/XX" and that is all the information I can

xenU
Hi,
When building an xenU guest kernel do you need to make ARCH=xen ?? as I am
trying to build a kernel that includes a patch for abi-sco that has parts
build against i386 and I believe that this is causing the build not to work.
Any ideas welcome.
Thanks

[PATCH]rtc emulation for xenU
There''s an issue on x86_64 whereby booting an unpriv guest using a
kernel that has the RTC driver compiled in hangs when the rc scripts run
the command hwclock. The patch attached resolves the issue.
The patch adds a simple rtc emulation and also on i386, hwclock can get
correct date when xenU enabled pirq binding, without this patch, hwclock
read will timeout because of lack of update
