SuperImage plugin
Greetings all,
This is the first release of the SuperImage plugin. The idea is you
upload images to the database, and then pull them out at any size you
want. Combine this with caching and it will stay light and fast.

re-sizing pictures.....
So i followed the steps in the agile development book and everything is
working just fine... i even added a few new functions to list and manage
the pics. but what if i start uploading big pics? i don''t want to have
huge desk-top size pics taking up the whole page all the time. right?
so does anyone have a sort-of thumbnail thing they''d be willing to
share? any help would

file_column and Thumbnails
I see that the SVN version of the excellent file_column plug-in can create
thumbnails using the url_for_image_column helper.
This uses Rmagick to create the thumbnail... Quick question...
Let''s say the file is a TIFF image - can the helper create a JPG version of
the thumbnail for display in the browser?
Curious if the plug-in can handle that transform with some creative use of

File_column, RMagick, and watermarking
I''m working on a photo gallery and I''m using File_column to handle the
uploads of the files and create my thumbnails, but does anyone here have
any idea how to have a watermark (opaque text maybe) placed over one of
the versions? Any ideas on how to go about this would be great. Even if
it''s just straight RMagick code, that would be fine too.
Thanks in advance for the

file_column Cropping -> image offset information
Hello,
I had a problem cropping images with file_column. These are my settings:
file_column :image, :magick => {
:versions => {
:thumb => "80x80>",
:medium => "150x150>",
:square => {
:crop => "1:1",
:size => "50x50!"
}

Creating multiple rows with one form
Hello. I''ve been trying this out for the past two days and I can''t seem to
get it. I''m going to have a page where you can upload x amount of images at
once. Lets say 10 images need to be uploaded, all with a caption.
I''d like to have a browse button to choose the file, then the caption. Now,
if I put 10 of them in one form, fill them all out and submit, I get

Depot App: Upload Images
Hello,
I''m a newbie to Ruby on Rails and like many others, I have been working
through the depot application in the Agile Web Development book.
I was wondering if anyone had enhanced the depot application to include
the upload of images for each product? The following describes the sort
of thing that I have been asked to produce for a client, so apologies if
the information is not

file_column with polymorphic table relationship?
Hello,
I''m just starting out with both Rails and Ruby, so I hope this isn''t too
simple of a question - but I''ve been struggling to find a solution.
I''m using the file_column plugin to handle image uploads and thumbnail
generation. In addition, I''ve wrapped the image into a polymorphic table
so I can have uploaded images associated with multiple

file_column: patched for imagemagick and validation
Hi all,
I patched file_column to add imagemagick transformations of uploaded
content. I added an options hash, and it takes the :magick and
:format keys. :magick is a string of imagemagick command line options
for convert (Reference:
http://www.imagemagick.org/script/convert.php). Format is an optional
extension for the finished image. If Imagemagick recognizes the
extension, then it will

File_column and rmagick options
Hi,
Currently I''m using the file_column plugin to upload images and save
multiple copies of each at 3 different resoltions:
file_column :name, :magick => {
:versions => { "thumb96" => "96x150>", "medium250" =>
"250x400>", "large480" => "480X640>" }
}
I am wondering if

File_Column Development Dead?
I''m curious if anyone knows if development on the file_column plug in is
continuing? I''ve seen some SVN commits from awhile back but no binary
releases.
Did Sebastian speak at Canada on Rails? Anyone catch that?
What is the future of file_column?

file_column permissions
this is getting frustrating...
i installed file_column without a hitch for the first time to just play
around with. using the exact same steps as before, i try to use it with
one of my actual applications, and i get "permission denied" errors. i
figure there might be some conflict with my application so just for
kicks i do the exact same thing i did the first time to test

file_column and versions acting up...about to spit blood and kill people. please help.
Hey railsers...anyone run into this problem?
I''m developing an app which I''m deploying with Capistrano. That being said,
I''ve stuck all the file_column goodies in public/system/...
During my deployment script I chmod -R that directory and everything in it
to make sure www-data (the apache user/group) has access to it.
In development mode on my Macbook I can upload

More flexible file column?
The file column plug-in is great, but there is a problem with it. Well,
two... But the other is well documented now. :^)
Consider a time when you''ve created a CMS for a client and it''s been in
use for over a year. Say 1500+ images have been uploaded so far. Now the
client comes back with a simple request... ''Can you change the thumbnail
size to 80/90, rather than

File Column Directory Add another layer
Quick Question. I understand how to change the default path to
something other than public but what if I wanted to add another
directory into the equation. I want to upload an image into the
following structure:
/public/image/userid/imageid/test.gif
So basically I want to look up the userid in my users table and put
all the images for that user in the same directory. So i have a one

File Column
Has anyone any experiance with the FileColumn plugin. I''m trying to
create thumbnails, and also alow non picture uploads. Here''s some
working code, but if I try and upload a zip, it says ''File invalid
image''. Is there anyway of having both image uploads (and thumbnail
generation) while also allowing non image uploads?

file upload
This is probably me having an issue with the mvc way of living.. .I''m
used to perl/php scripting...
I''ve got a photo blog I''m making... and in past iterations of this
website, I''d just name the photos after the id of the entry. For
instance:
/photos/id.jpg
/photos/id_thumb.jpg
However, I''m having trouble finding an easy way to do this with rails.
