How to run Windows on Xen 3.0 with VT
We have an Intel VT system, and we have successfully installed Xen 3.0 on it, but we cannot find out how to run Windows as a guest OS. Someone on this mailing list has successfully done it, but did not say how. Thanks, - Hao _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-users

OS/2 and eComStation
Hi, Hoping someone can help me with some question on Xen 3.x and Intel VT (Vanderpool) hardware. Can IBM OS/2 or Serenity Systems eComStation now be run with Xen and Intel Vanderpool enabled CPUs? If not, what is needed? Are any drivers needed? Do you know of anyone working on getting Xen to support OS/2 or eComStation? > Jan 21,2004, Mark A. Williamson wrote: > Afraid so. > With

any VT-d enabled mobos for Xeon 5000 series out there ?
Hi list, i have seen a lot of questions about VT-d on recent intel mobos. however, it seems that all tests are done on the newer socket 775-based xeon''s or core2''s, and not the 5000 series (socket 771 based). i was planning on getting a intel S5000V chipset, but found out that it does not support VT-d. Can anyone confirm a mobo that has this enabled and also has 2x LGA771

HVM guest support unavailable
Hi, when I try to start a hvm the well known error message "Error: HVM guest support is unavailable: is VT/AMD-V supported by your CPU and enabled in your BIOS?" appears. I am using an Intel E8400 on Asus P5E VM DO Board. /proc/cpuinfo info shows that the CPU has vmx support. I have enabled "Vanderpool Technology" in BIOS. According to the xen user manual the package dev86

dual boot windows
Hi guys, I''m new to Xen - in fact I haven''t installed it yet - wanted to find out a bit more before I test the waters. Here''s what I want to do: 1. I''m getting a new Intel Core duo laptop within a couple of days. I believe the core duo chips have Vanderpool technology so it shouldn''t be a problem getting Xen to run windows unmodified - is this

VT-d with Supermicro MBD-X10SAE-O
Hi all, I''m having difficulty getting VT-d to work correctly with a new Supermicro MBD-X10SAE-O in QubesOS <http://qubes-os.org/trac>, and I''m hoping someone here might be able to help me (or at least shed some light on my situation). A Qubes developer suggested I contact this list. Here''s my HCL post from the qubes-users group

VT-x and frontend/backend drivers
Hello, As I saw in this mailing list, there should be some emulation solution for drivers when using VT-x processors. See for example : http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-devel/2005-12/msg00763.html My question is this; As I understand, the VMX support in the new VT-x processors enables us to prevent Guest OSs from performing unwanted instructions (HLT , for example). This

Re: OS/2 Warp and eComStation
I can run OS/2 Warp 4 (no fixpak) as guest in native QEMU (non kqemu). I can also run OS/2 Warp 4 in a domu guest in XEN 3.1 on a Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty) host. A stripped down eComStation will also work in native QEMU but it will not run in XEN 3.1. When trying to run eComStation in XEN, at boot it will lockup immediately (at boot blob). Any ideas or fixes that might help? thanks

Etch: Xen does not want guests: Error: (22, 'Invalid argument')
Hi, I want to use Xen on a current Testing using the amd64 architecture. I want to use the i386 architecture for the laster Xen guests. The hardware is a Intel Xeon 5130 (Woodcrest) with the Vanderpool support. Two harddisk are used as a Linux software raid 1. Installing the hypervisor and rebooting worked like a charm since the bootmenu of grub has also been updates:) The hypervisor is

[PATCH] [RFC] More fp instructions for realmode emulation (Enables booting OS/2 as a HVM guest on Intel/VT hardware)
This patch adds a number of fp instructions needed for OS/2 to boot as a HVM guest on Intel/VT hardware. It appears to work fine, and OS/2 is now finally working on Intel/VT as well as AMD/SVM. I''m a little concerned about the "correctness" of the FSTSW emulation and the use of inline assembly directly using the corresponding ops for emulation. Wrt FSTSW, it is really two ops

Patch for rgl with gcc 4.0 in R 2.3.0 on OS X
Hi, I recently had a problem installing the rgl package on OS X and put together a simple patch. The patched package is available here: http://jinome.stanford.edu/files/rgl_0.66-patched_for_gcc4.tar.gz It can be installed with "R CMD INSTALL rgl_0.66-patched_for_gcc4.tar.gz" as normal at the command line. Also -- as of right now rgl is not in the repository of version 2.3 packages

Good call, but I believe I may have ruled this out. I didn't upgrade to 3.1.3, but both sides are running 3.1.1 protocol version 31 now. Same

copying large files over NFS locks up machine on -testing from Thursday
I''ve locked up my dom0 a couple of times this morning copying a 3GB file from local disk to an NFS mount(neither xend nor guests running). I don''t encounter this problem on the stock CentOS 4 kernel. The machine is a PowerEdge 2850 with 2 e1000 cards - the one in use is connected to a PowerConnect 2216 10/100 switch and has negotiated 100Mbit. I''ll check if the stock

Code for Hodrick-Prescott Filter: Special Case of smooth. spline?
I've had a play with this and, due to my own short-comings, remain none the wiser. In particular, I'm not sure what value of 'spar' is consistent with the magic lambda=1/1600 for quarterly data. I initially interpreted spar as lambda and tried setting spar=1/1600. This results in almost no smoothing while spar=1600 causes an error. The smooth.spline function seems to want
