decorators for models?
Hi!
I''m thinking of implementing datagrid like functionality for showing
data (models) in grids so that I don''t have to re-invent the
view/controller for each table I need. There are number of parameters
that need to be customizable: column titles, row style depending on the
data (i.e. showing all rows with balance<0 in red), is column sortable,
sort-algorithm etc.

Problem with ActiveRecord and Associations
Hi,
I''m having what I believe to be a typecast problem with ActiveRecord and
Associations. In the code below, I need to flag a contact record for
deletion if the contact doesn''t have any addresses or books records:
sql = "select id, delete_flag from contacts where id = #{params[:id]}"
contact = Contact.find_by_sql(sql)
if (contact[0].addresses.count +

Relating Namespaced Models
I am dealing with a large project. I use a lot of STI and therfore have
a lot of models. I''d like to use namespaces to help organize my models
but am having trouble getting started.
I have a base model Term::Base located in /app/models/term/base.rb:
class Term::Base < ActiveRecord::Base
set_table_name "terms"
end
I have a non-namespaced client model:

Newbie question: scaffold not working
I went through a tutorial at
http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2005/01/20/rails.html?page=1 to get
started with RoR. I really like the idea of the scaffold construct, but
I can''t seem to get it to work the way it was described in the tutorial.
I''ve got a mysql database that is properly configured, and a table
called ''quotes'' with a column called

Weird ActiveRecord Foreign Key Problem
Hello to all,
I ran into a weird problem with an ActivRecord. I have a table named
"build_order" with a column named "type" that is a foreign key to a
table called "building_type". In a controller I try to read all the
build_orders with "BuildOrder.find :all" and get the following error and
stack trace:

How can I find out which attribute is screwing up pluralize/singularize?
Hey there :)
I''m creating this app on top of a legacy database, that has a mixture
of auto_inc ids, non-''id'' named pks, non-integer-pks, foreign keys that
end in _code instead of _id, etc.
I have the model working great in the console, where I can create any
modeled object and reference other objects without issues.
However, I''m running into problems with

One model won''t work like the others, generating weird error
I''ve been banging my head against this for quite some time and can''t
figure out what is going on. I''m doing up a web site based on Typo and
adding in some custom controllers. I''m running Typo from trunk, so it''s
using the version of rails in vendor/rails. Everything is going
smoothly...until now.
I have one model that JUST. WON''T. WORK.

Annoying problem, stack error
For some reason rake spec is totally crapping out on me.
I don''t know what I did to make it break, the only thing I tried new
was install haml, but even after removing it there is still a stack
trace.
Here is what I am getting-
