You can have multiple vethX interfaces on recent builds -- see netback/loopback.c.
I think the current default is a rather miserly 1 (and should be increased), but can be set on the command line.

Two interfaces in a guest domain
Hello,
I''m still having problems with my ''upgrade'' to the FC4 xen packages.
I have a domain with two virtual network interfaces, in two different
subnets.
For a domain with a single interface, the new networkd setup script works
fine, but it does work (for me) with two interfaces.
It used to work fine, and I used to set it up with simply by more or
less blindly doing

Ethernet bridges + udev problem?
Hello,
I can''t seem to get the network going.
I found this message in the log of Domain0:

Hey,
I''m having a bit of difficulty sshing from Dom0 to DomU and vice versa, my
setup is as follows;
Xen-3.0-unstable, XenLinux kernel 2.6.12
Dom0 on Redhat EL 4
Dom1 on SuSE linux 9.1 (with the standard xenU kernel included with

The server it runs on doesnt have a nic installed (well it does, just
without drivers)

netback/loopback.c creates them.
It''s effectively a point to point link, allowing domain 0 to connect on
to the bridge in the same manner that other domains do. (before, packets
to domain 0 were short-cutted and came off the

CPU1 never used despite HTT?
Hi,
I am running a Xeon with hyperthreading support. Until last week's HTT
modifications, according to ps(1) and top(1) both logicals CPUs were in
use. (Processes in CPU0 and CPU1 state; "C" column showing "0" or "1".)
This has changed with a recent -STABLE kernel which includes last week's
changes to HTT (removing "options HTT"). I am only seeing

Issue installing guest domain using fedora core 5
Hi,
I''m using a Dell 360 workstation with 1 Gig of Ram.
I have installed successfully the Domain_0 kernel 2.6.17-1.2157_FC5xen0,
upgraded all packages and restarted the box with this new kernel.
when I run xm list, it shows this domain running happily.
I have built a guest OS install tree, with the new guest Domain_u kernel
image, appropriate for this latest kernel. This tree exists on

panic: vinvalbuf: flush failed
Hi,
We have a pretty serious problem with our news server crashing
during the expire cronjob. This happened with 4.7-RELEASE, so
we upgraded to 4.8-RELEASE recently, hoping that the problem
might be fixed, but it isn't. The machine is a Compaq DL360-G2.
I've searched the PR database as well as the mailing list
archives for the panic string, but didn't find anything.
What makes the

I suggest perceptual diff. You could write a wrapper around it.

Panics on 4.7 system
After some dialog with Terry Lambert on -hackers, I've been advised to
post this here.
I have a 4.7-RELEASE-p10 box that is suffering regular kernel panics.
The machine is a Dell 2650 running primarily as a file/print server to
a number of computer labs of about 400 machines (although it also
functions as a rembo image server and squid proxy). It mainly stores
applications, which

Comparing figures?
Hello,
I am working on tests to compare figures. I have been using ImageMagick, which creates a figure signature, and I can compare a "test" figure signature against a saved "reference" figure signature. It seems to work pretty well. However, it is slow as it requires reading from the file system.
Are there any options to compare figures on memory? For example, if I

Hello,
In my code I found something that looks like an anomaly, I found a reproducible example in which I am just trying to compare each row in a data frame against the first row:

Hi,
Someone already use xen as production server?
For example: 3 domains (mail, proxy and web server).
And what about stability?

Multiple Samba Instances on a Single Distribution.
Hello, I am wondering if anyone else has thought that it might be good
to be able to run multiple instances of samba on a single machine ?
I currently accomplish this task with VMware and multiple vm's.
But it seems to me that it may be simpler if samba were able to
run multiple instenses, with unique configs and smbpasswds,
binding to unique aliased ethernet devices!
Such that on a single

tls library message won''t go away
Hello,
I''m trying to upgrade to using the "boxed" xen supported on FC4
after having it working fine for a while on a manual installation
on FC3.
I upgraded the host operating system with the FC4 cdroms, and
it went mostly fine (after I turned off SElinux...)
Now, when I try to boot one of the provided xen kernels, namely:
vmlinuz-2.6.12-1.1447_FC4xen0
I always get the warning

ext3 0.9.6 vs ext3 0.9.9
Hello,
I have done extensive testing between 2.4.9 and 2.4.9-ac12 with ext3
0.9.6 and 0.9.9. I also tried using both kgcc and gcc-2.96.
I have a problem with logging into xdm or starting the gnome-session
totally locking up the machine while using ext3 0.9.9.
It seems to go away using ext3-0.9.6. During xdm/gnome-session the hard
disk is under heavy activity. I have attached my
kernel config.

BGE & VLAN stranges
Hello!
I have Compaq DL360G2 with Broadcom BCM5701 Gigabit Ethernet and
FreeBSD 5.1R installed. There are no problems if I use bge as usual
network card, but when I try to use 802.1Q vlans, I can't receive (only
receive, sending is ok) packets more then 1456 bytes! What is the
problem? BGE driver, VLAN driver or my network configuration?
Best wishes,

help please - running a guest from an iSCSI disk ? getting more diagnostics than "cannot make domain: -3" ? how to make domain0 "privileged" ?
Good day -
This is my first post to this list , and I''m new to Xen - any help on
this issue would be much appreciated .
I downloaded, built and installed xen-4.2.1 (hypervisor and tools) on
an x86_64 ArchLinux box
updated to latest software as of today.
I am trying to bring up a Linux guest from a remote iSCSI disk.

Timer on a function
Hello,
I have a program that consists of a loop fitting a function over many models. Sometimes the fitting on a particular model takes minutes to converge. Is there a way that I can limit the amount of time that R spends on a given model:
say if my line is:
fittingFunction( func, model.1)
can I have some function:
stopIfUnderTime( fittingFunction( func, model.1) , 5 )
