Removing large holey file does not free space 6792701 (still)
Hello, I mentioned this problem a year ago here and filed 6792701 and I know it has been discussed since. It should have been fixed in snv_118, but I can still trigger the same problem. This is only triggered if the creation of a large file is aborted, for example by loss of power, crash or SIGINT to mkfile(1M). The bug should probably be reopened but I post it here since some people where

ext3 fs unable to stat
Hi, I am running RH 7.2 (professional release 2.4 kernel) I have a ext3 file system which stores large oracle "dump files" over 4GB. We write to it via NFS which is working great, the problem is when we issue a file largefile.dmp from the linux box it fails on anything over 4GB stating that can't stat 'largefile.dmp' (value too large for defined data type). SMB throughput inquiry, Jeremy, and James' bow tie
I went to the site to subscribe again and ended up watching some of Jeremy's Google interviews. I particularly enjoyed the interview with James and the bow tie lesson at the end. :) So anyway, I recently upgraded my home network to end-to-end GbE. My clients are Windows XP SP3 w/hot fixes, and my Samba server is 3.5.6 atop vanilla kernel.org Linux 3.2.6 and Debian 6.0.6. With FDX fast

largefile question
Hello, currently we're using version 1.0.13 with 32bit file offsets. Is it safe to switch to a new version with largefile support enabled ? We want to reuse existing index/cache or do we have to expect errors with that ? Regards. Error when compile rsync
Hi, I tried to compile rsync-2.5.2 on Solaris 5.7 Ultra-2 machine, 5.7 on Ultra-2 is running 64 bit, but, when I ran configure, it said no for largefile, I thought 2.5.2 will support large file? Is that true? Thanks, Jennifer

Problem copying >2GB files on HP-UX 11i with rsync 2.5.6
I have downloaded the source for rsync 2.5.6 and compiled it without adjusting any options, no problems. Performed a test copy of a file GT 2 GB and it failed. In the file configure I changed the line to "--enable-largefile", removed all the .o files, performed a ./configure, gmake, gmake install. Tried the test copy and again received the following error message: rsync:
