Plan9 on xen
I went through the instructions on the Bell Labs wiki (http://www.cs.bell-labs.com/wiki/plan9/Installing_in_Xen/index.html), and am literally at the last step of the process, where I can create a new plan9 domain via xm. However, I get the following: $ xm create plan9 -c Using config file "/etc/xen/plan9". Started domain plan9, console on port 999 ************ REMOTE CONSOLE: CTRL-] TO

[LLVMdev] LLVM porting Plan9 (probably stupid question)
I am not sure whether this would work or if there are other limitations that would block this very simplistic porting strategy to work. Since it looks so easy on paper, I expect it to be more complicated otherwise it would probably already have been done. According to the LLVM FAQ the important dependencies for LLVM are a unix-type shell and sed [1], but those dependencies are provided by APE

CentOS 7, ctrl-alt-bksp
I've been googling, and looking at the CentOS wiki - which, btw, when I do a full search on "control-alt-backspace", gives me three pages... in Japanese, I think. How do I re-enable userspace restart X? mark

[LLVMdev] Researching alternative for home-grown VM
I'm researching an alternative to our home-grown VM that is used for a telecomm system. LLVM sounds like it fits the bill... however, one of the primary reasons for developing our home-grown VM was the concept of continuation. Basically, the code that folks write can call certain built-in functions of our "language". These functions cause the VM to stop execution and save a

question about mouse and kvm switch
Greetings all: I have a CentOS 3.6 and 4.3 box sharing a kvm switch. Switching from the 4.3 box to the 3.6 and back again, the mouse stops responding. The keyboard works just fine, and I can ssh into the box. I have tried <ctl><alt><bksp> and while it does restart the x server, it doesn't seem to affect the mouse. Is there something I can run to get the mouse recognized

Severe issues with the latest 6.5 desktop
Ok, here at home, I'm running kde. After the last update, last week, and reboot (and that was a *real* mess - some issue I'm not sure I've resolved yet, trying to boot off RAID 1), here's what's started happening: I run in runlevel 3, and have a startx in my .bash_profile. At some point, just about every day, suddenly the toolbar on the bottom vanishes, as does my desktop

[PATCH] domain.c idle_loop declaration (take 2)
The recent change to the declaration of idle_loop in domain.c fixed a compilation problem on gcc 3.4.2. Enclosed patch is another suggestion on how to solve that problem. Some further analysis, with much help from Jimmy Xenidis of IBM research, shows that the problem was not the declaration of the function as static void, but that the compiler is optimizing the function out of the assembled

netbook screen suddenly goes black
Hi all! I'm running an up to date Centos-7 on my Acer Aspire One netbook. have been for, well, ever since C7 was released. Just had an event today that also happened 2 or 3 times with earlier systems installed, but I never pursued it. What happens is that suddenly while working away on the desktop the display suddenly goes black... not black as in turned off, I can see that the backlight is
