Can't create mirrored LVM: Insufficient suitable allocatable extents for logical volume : 2560 more required
I'm trying to setup a LVM mirror on 2 iSCS targets, but can't. I have added both /dev/sda & /dev/sdb to the LVM-RAID PV, and both have 500GB space. steps to add a new physical disk to existing LVM setup in new centos box?
Not a centos specific question here, but if anyone can save me from shooting myself in the foot would appreciate any pointers.... I have an older centos 4.7 box that I recently replaced with a newer one running centos 5.3. I'd like to add the hard disk from the older one to the newer one before I scrap it for good. I don't care about the data on it, would just like the extra drive

Transition to CentOS - RAID HELP!
Hi Folks, I've inherited an old RH7 system that I'd like to upgrade to CentOS6.1 by means of wiping it clean and doing a fresh install. However, the system has a software raid setup that I wish to keep untouched as it has data on that I must keep. Or at the very least, TRY to keep. If all else fails, then so be it and I'll just recreate the thing. I do plan on backing up

can't mount an LVM volume inCentos 5.10
I have a degraded raid array (originally raid-10, now only two drives) that contains an LVM volume. I can see in the appended text that the Xen domains are there but I don't see how to mount them. No doubt this is just ignorance on my part but I wonder if anyone would care to direct me? I want to be able to retrieve dom-0 and one of the dom-Us to do data recovery, the others are of

lvm over software raid error
Came across a strange problem, I have a software raid1 with LV sitting on top. When I try to mirror an existing LV to a new LV with the tar command I get these error messages. mount /dev/vg00/base.centos /mnt/orig mount /dev/vg00/test /mnt/new cd /mnt/orig tar cf - ./|(cd /mnt/new; tar xf - ) ... [PATCH] xen: arm: improve VMID allocation.
The VMID field is 8 bits. Rather than allowing only up to 256 VMs per host reboot before things start "acting strange" instead maintain a simple bitmap of used VMIDs and allocate them statically to guests upon creation. This limits us to 256 concurrent VMs which is a reasonable improvement. Eventually we will want a proper scheme to allocate VMIDs on context switch. The existing code

is it safe to resize root, on an LVM system, online?
Hi, One of our servers has a too small root partition on LVM and needs to be resized. Can / be safely increased online, without a reboot? Kickstart syntax for CentOS upgrade
I'd like to automate the upgrade from CentOS 4.6 to 5.1 as much as possible. Since upgrades per se are not really recommended, I'm planning to do a kickstart installation. However, I want to leave one of the existing partitions (/scratch) untouched during the installation. Here is my current layout (LogVol00 is swap so not shown in the df output below): # df -hl

is it possible to resive a PV in LVM and add more LV's ?
Hi all I have a remote server (i.e SSH access only) which was incorrectly partitioned and I urgently need to get it up and running. It's got a 500GB HDD, but the PV is only 10GB big, so I can't add more LV's to to. P.S. This is on LVM, btw. callerid validation and expression parser problems on Solaris 10
Greetings to All. A little background about what I am trying to do, and please excuse the length of this post. I am setting up a voicemail (VM) system based on Asterisk. From what I've heard Vonage uses Asterisk as their VM platform as well. I am running 1.2beta with a MYSQL backend for extensions and VM user info. All the sound files and vm messages are being stored through an NFS

can't boot after volume rename
I renamed my volume with vgrename however I didn't complete the other steps. Mainly update fstab and intiramfs. Once I booted, I was dropped on the Dracut shell. From here I can see the newly rename VG and I can lvm lvscan as well as activate it, lvm vgchange -ay. However I can't figure out what to do next, I'm assuming I need to regenerate the initramfs and then boot to change

quota doesn't appear to work - repquota only updates when quotacheck is run
Hi, I have exactly the same problem that you experienced in Nov, 2013. I am using ext4 with journaled quota and the quota usage is only updating when I run quotacheck manually. Have you found a solution? Regards, Alex > I have set up user quotas on an ext4 filesystem. quota doesn't appear to work - repquota only updates when quotacheck is run
I have set up user quotas on an ext4 filesystem. It does not appear that the quota system is being updated, except when I manually run quotacheck. More detail: I run "warnquota -s" from a script in /etc/cron.daily. I noticed that no one had received an "over quota" message in a long time. Using "repquota -as", it indeed looked as though everyone was under their
