xenU wont boot, cannot open root device
Hi,
I am trying to replace uml with xen, but I cant get the unpreviliged Domains
booting..
Ive tested a cuple of filesystems in a file (ext3 or xfs formatted) and Ive also
tried the ttylinux-xen image. But I always get this error:

RAID5 suddenly broken
Hello,
I have a RAID5 array on my CentOS 5.6 x86_64 workstation which
"suddenly" failed to work (actually after the system could not resume
from a suspend).
I had recently issues after moving the workstation to another office,
where one of the disks got accidently unplugged. But the RAID was
working and it had reconstructed (as far as I can tell) the data.
After I replugged the disk,

Re: ttylinux and Error creating domain: vbd: Segment not found - new
Hello,
Thnks;
You are absolutely right.I changed it to point to
file:/root/ttylinux/ttylinux-xen , unmounted mnt
and had succeeded to create and log in to the new created domain.
Silly of me.

CentOS 7: software RAID 5 array with 4 disks and no spares?
Hi,
I just replaced Slackware64 14.1 running on my office's HP Proliant
Microserver with a fresh installation of CentOS 7.
The server has 4 x 250 GB disks.
Every disk is configured like this :
* 200 MB /dev/sdX1 for /boot
* 4 GB /dev/sdX2 for swap
* 248 GB /dev/sdX3 for /
There are supposed to be no spare devices.
/boot and swap are all supposed to be assembled in RAID level 1 across

Xend crashes repeatedly starting DomU - please help...
Hi, this is a repost of a previous question - since then I have tried
rebuilding my Xen0 kernel numerous times and trying different
configurations, but I haven''t yet ever got a single DomU to boot so I
really don''t even know what is supposed to happen, let alone how to
start debugging it...
Can someone please speculate on how to debug this further? It''s a

No login prompt for DomainU with Xen 3.1 on CentOS 5.3
Hello Dear everybody!
I just installed CentOS 5.3 and try the built-in Xen 3.1 with it. But even the
typical ttyLinux doesn''t work when the domain is created.-- it just doesn''t give
me the login prompt while the domain ttylinux is booted.

Why cannt I boot 128 ttylinux VMs?
Hey all,
I am a new Xen user and trying to boot up 128 VM on the machine with 16G
memory. All VM images are ttylinux. When I booted up 116 Virtual
machines, I can not boot VM anymore. Once I create a new VM, the latest
VM on the machine would be kicked out to hold 116 VM simultaneously.
Since I set VM memory to 32M, the Memory should not be an issue. I am
wondering why I can not boot 128 VM and

[file PATCH] Properly detect .vdi (VirtualBox disk image) files
The current test for .vdi files is incorrect. It tries to detect the
string "<<< Sun xVM VirtualBox Disk Image >>>". However this string
is just free text and .vdi files often contain different strings (ref: [1]).
The correct test in this patch looks for the magic number at offset
0x40 in the file (ref: [2]).
Example:
Upstream 'file' without the patch on an

ttylinux instructions
Does anyone in the devel team recall how the ttylinux rootfs was
created, by which I mean what changes were needed? Nothing detailed,
just "oh, just /etc/fstab" or whatever. I haven''t yet compared
myself, though I''ll figure it eventually.
For XenCD, I''d like to ship a pristine ttylinux instance on the ISO
image, and have the XenCD startup process copy that

isohybrid boot from logical partition
Hi,
I have been attempting to set up a multi-boot USB stick (i.e. multiple
bootable ISO images on the one stick)
I have had good success by:
- processing ISO with isohybrid (with "partok" flag)
- dd'ing ISO to primary partitions on the USB stick (e.g /dev/sdc2,
/dev/sdc3, /dev/sdc4)
- installing grub to USB stick and configuring to chainload to these
partitions

Not able to get eth0 up on domU.
I am using ttylinux-xen file system image a a loopback device for the
domain. I am mostly using the default configuration. I am not able to
get networking on the domU. Are kernel "vmlinuz-2.6-xenU" as well as
"2.6.11.12-xen0" both compiled w/o loadable module support? I guess it
fails when it tries to initialize the iptables on the domU when it tries
to do "modprobe".

CentOS 7: software RAID 5 array with 4 disks and no spares?
Hi Niki,
md127 apparently only uses 81.95GB per disk. Maybe one of the partitions has the wrong size. What's the output of lsblk?
