Serial port on the domU
I configured a domU to access to the physical serial port of the dom0 (/dev/ttyS0) typing this in the domU configuration file: irq = [ 4 ] ioports = [ "3f8-3ff" ] The domU starts without any error, but the serial port isn''t recognised. The /dev/ttyS0 device exists on the domU, and I blacklisted the serial_core, the 8250 and 8250_pnp modules on the dom0. What is the problem?

porting vmware''s vmdk to domU
Hi! Is there any experience of converting vmware''s vmdk file to a domU image? Maybe via extracting vmdk (how?) -> build tar -> untar in domU? That would be very nice despite replacing the original kernel with a self-built one and worthy to write a script... :) Cheers, Sven. _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xensource.com

Show DomU login dialog instead of Dom0''s
Hello, is it possible to login into a DomU (Windows) without beeing logged in in the Dom0 on the same PC where Xen runs? So I want to have something like the Windows login screen on e. g. tty2 so I do not need to login twice (first in Dom0 and the second one in the DomU). Thanks for help, Markus _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list

xm list not showing guest machines as "running"
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA512 as the screenshot [0] shows, my virtual machines aren''t showing up as running. This causes me a few problems. One being if I do xm shutdown SMGL-1 it simply powers it down, it doesn''t send the "shutdown signal" or whatever makes it go away :) I''ve done a from source install using the instructions mentioned [1].

Major problems with 2.0.7 and SATA drives
Hello everyone, I''m hoping to find an answer to my problem here. Currently I''m installing xen 2.0.7 on 30 dual opteron machines with 4GB memory. The machines have Tyan K8SR as motherboard with Silicon Image 3114 chip sata controler and 2 x 300 GB Western Digital SATA drives. Each xen server has 5 domUs, where some of them have high traffic and thus require high disk usage.

working config for xen which would transfer a serial interface
Hello Can anyone share a known working config for xen which would transfer a serial interface ( add-on card preferably, mine uses e880-e887 : 0000:03:05.0 / ec00-ec07 : 0000:03:05.0 ) to a DomU ? I've been trying with the stock packages from Centos 5.5 ( fully updated) and also with gitco's 3.4.3 but after 2 days of googling and testing we still fail to access the serial

Xen 4.0 - No console prompt after booting domU but functional SSH
Hello xen-users ! I am coming for help concerning the just released 4.0 version. Install has worked rather well on my Debian Lenny. I have just had a few bugs for which I have found the answer looking around on this list. I have created a Debian Lenny domU which boots up just fine. The only problem is that I am unable to get a console prompt when using "xm console nameofdomU". I do see

ctrl-c doesn''t work in domU consoles
Hey, I''ve installed Xen 3.0 on a freshly installed Debian Sarge. dom0 is working nicely (kernel 2.6.12.6-xen0). Then I created a domU, again with Debian Sarge, booting Xen''s vmlinuz-2.6.12-xenU. Unfortunately ctrl-c does not work in the domU''s console, neither if I create the domU with "xm create -c ..." nor if I attach to it later. It doesn''t matter

Xen driver domain...character device?
Greetings, Does anyone know if it is possible to give a guest domain access to character device hardware such as a SCSI tape drive (/dev/st0 | /dev/nst0)? I have recompiled the guest xenU kernel with hardware access and declared the pci SCSI card in the config file directive as follows: pci = [ ''4,3,0'' ] The log file when started reports: [2005-11-01 17:24:57 xend] DEBUG

basic question on how to compile 2.4 xen
Hi Can someone help me figure out a way to compile a 2.4 kernel in a 2.6 system. Basically it keeps failing because it needs the genksyms package, which is provided in the modutils package from redhat, but obviously this isn''t presetn on the 2.6 kernel. I was wondering how the xen maintainers go about compiling their 2.4 kernel and 2.6 kernel. Do you do it on different systems then

broadcast from domain-0 not reaching guest
Hello, I got Xen working on my machine using the packages that come with Fedora Core 4, but I got one problem: broadcast packages sent from Domain-0 will not reach the guest os. The rest seems to work perfectly. broadcast from guest reaches LAN. broadcast from LAN(but not Domain-0) reaches guest. Does anybody know how to get this working? Thorsten.

serial port from domU
dear list, i''m trying to get a serial port working on my domU. I''m running debian etch (2.6.18-4-xen-amd64 and xen 3.0.3-1), same problem with debian testing I noticed that CONFIG_XEN_DISABLE_SERIAL is set to yes. But still serial access from dom0 works fine. after blacklisting the 8250/8250_pnp/serial_core drivers, i still cannot get serial access from domU (i do have the
