File upload doesn''t work in production mode
Can anyone understand what the production.log file is telling me. I''ve
tried playing with the permissions for the folders and it makes no
difference. Every time I submit the form to upload the file I get
"Application error (Rails)" which doesn''t really help.

Dynamic file paths in FileColumn
I have a file uploader application in ROR using the very nice FileColumn
plugin. In looking at the source code I can see that there is a
DEFAULT_OPTION hash with some root path options and such which can be
merged from an options paramater. These static path changes are not a
problem.
My question is dynamic path options. My upload form, when you boil it
down, has two fields. The first is

Not all mongrel starting (Errno:EEXIST)
I''m playing with the mongrel clustering, and am having a problem getting 2
mongrels to start up reliably.
This should be a pretty simple cluster, with just 2 instances running. My
mongrel config (mongrel_cluster.yml) looks like:
cwd: /deployment/installed/myapp/current
log_file: log/mongrel.log
port: "8000"
environment: production

file_column uppercase extension problem
i''m using file_column 0.3.1 with rails 1.1.6, ruby 1.8.4, on winXP, and
i have this problem:
when I try to upload in my web application an image using file_column
plugin, if the extension of the image contains at least 1 uppercase
(e.g. myImage.jpG), I get this error:
No such file or directory -

file_column do download from URL
Is there a simple way of forcing file_column to download file from given
(ex. in form) url instead of uploading it manualy?
I know:
http://blog.caboo.se/articles/2006/01/09/file_column-magick-and-versions
require ''open-uri''
Attachment.find_first.filename = open(url)
if not working as expected... what is interesting is that:

File_column fails with uppercase extentions
I think this might be a Mac OS X only bug. Mac OS X stores filenames
case sensitively but compares filenames without case sensitivity.

I''m setting up an app and am trying to use file_column to upload a

Errno::EACCES in Controller / Permission denied
Hello,
I did a seemingly smooth install of ferret, but when I try to add it to
my model, I get an error.
My info:
My rails site: shelikes (a restaurant review site)
My controller: Display
My model: Review
My only line of code added for ferret is:
class Review < ActiveRecord::Base

end
Below is the error information. Any thoughts on how

FileColumn - Validate Before Saving
file_column is great -- but I need a way to run through the validations
(ie: validates_file_format_of) before saving. That is, when a user first
uploads an image it is displayed in the view but not ''saved'' until they
click the ''Save'' button on the form. I want to display an error
message/disable the ''Save'' button if the file they just

file_column - assigning with an actual file rather than a multipart
Hi there,
I''m using the wonderful file_column and have struck an issue that
someone might have seen before.
My images already sit on the server. So, instead of passing a
multipart message I''m sending a file object.
Something like...
f = File.new("public/gallery_images/builder.png")
p = Product.find_first
p.image = f
p.save
On the save I recieve an error which

file_column :root_path question.
I''m developing on Windows and deploying to FreeBSD+lighttpd using
Switchtower and I''ve got things generally working. My problem now is
that file_column data gets zapped every time I deploy, because
Switchtower creates a whole new myapp/public directory with each rev.
I looked through the file_column docs and found the :root_path option,
which I use in my models as follows:

handling file uploads
hey guys,
the way i''m handling file uploads is no good, but i''m not sure what
the best way to go about it is. right now my approach is to use
FileUtils.mv to move the uploaded file to the directory i want it in.
this approach doesn''t work well because sometimes the uploaded file is
just an IO object instead of a temporary file (apparently small files
aren''t

file_column plugin and instance variables

This is needed because file_column specifically looks for the instance

mechanize: 400 Bad Request
Hello,
when trying to access a certain HTML-frame, I get:
"in `request'': Unhandled response (WWW::Mechanize::ResponseCodeError)"
and the page returns: "400 Bad Request"
* Why?
* How to solve this?
With browser, it works.
In the logs below, I marked 4 lines with "***", where I see possible
differences in the URI. But I don''t know, if this is

File_column and rmagick options
Hi,
Currently I''m using the file_column plugin to upload images and save
multiple copies of each at 3 different resoltions:
