could not load modules.dep stops network from working?
Iam new to Xen and I am trying to FC4 and FC4 domains. I came across a
problem when my newly created domain never gets a network. When I start
the domain I get a fatal error that leads me to believe that thios might
be the reason why I don''t have networking with the bridge:

How to make an initrd for xen
Hi
How do I make an initrd for xen.
I''m trying to boot rhel3 in fc4, and it keeps getting stuck at
Freeing unused kernel memory.
I''ve created the device files, but it still doesn''t boot up. I''m
pretty sure that the solution lies in makeing an initrd file.
Currently my xenU kernel is 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4xen0. Can someone please
tell me how to do this?

Semi-OT: hardware: NVidia proprietary driver, C7.4
Hi, folks,
Well, still more fun (for values of fun approaching zero):
1. Went to install CUDA 9.0... well, gee, there is *no* CUDA 9.0.
Even though I installed the 9 repo, all that I get is 8. I've
used their webform, and an waiting on a reply.
2. I remove all nvidia packages.
3. It appears that the kmod-nvidia is what I need; that's what

depmod madness
Hello,
What can I do when attempting to run depmod with these options:
-Ae -b base -F System.map
to prevent depmod from appending the following path:
lib/modules/2.6.18-53.1.14.el5/modules.dep.temp
to the specified base? I am specifying a base as:
-b ./lib/modules/2.6.16.23-custom
So depmod errors/fails with: FATAL: Could not open

kerneld and module security
Here''s a neat trick for a machine running kerneld:
not_root@machine$ /sbin/ifconfig isofs
loads ''/lib/modules/(kernel version here)/fs/isofs.o''.
/sbin/ifconfig when run as non-root queries a network interface for
its configuration. However, if the interface is unknown it also tries
to load the module that implements that interface using the name of the
interface as

unresolved symbols in /lib/modules/2.4.18/misc/zaptel.o
Hi all.
I've been lurking here for a couple weeks just trying to get an idea of
how to install asterisk. I'm running Debian with a custom kernel
version 2.4.18. I think I've got all the dependencies installed -
debian packages readline4 and openssl are installed. It's a very
barebones install with only the packages relevant to building a kernel
and asterisk installed.

Everything compiled correctly for the ocfs2 package, but so far the

Okay not sure what is up here, any suggestions? BTW, this is the correct
module location and I

Thank you all for you replies!
For anyone following the fedora xen quickstart guide here are the steps
to follow to get your eth0 working.
At rawhide
mkdir /lib/modules/2.6.12-1.1411_FC4xen0
depmod -a
At the domain0
(make sure rawhide is down)
mount -o loop /root/fedora.img /mnt
cd /mnt
cp /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

Missing 'modules.pcimap' file for HDT
Hi,
So the 'modules.pcimap' file, needed by Hardware Detection Tool to
display kernel modules, is now missing. pciutils/kmod deprecated usage
of this file adn depmod lost its -m option.
So here are may questions:
1- How to generate a "modules.pcimap" or an equivalent file nowadays?
2- Is it still needed by HDT ?
3- What if it is missing, is HDT semi-broken?
Thanks.

flac-1.1.2-win
Hi Martijn
Thank you for the link.
Could those old installers be taken down or at least moved to a 'old' folder ?
I'm new to this, so I am a good example of how a new user works. I use
google, or I visit the homepage, and then I download and install.
As that installer version doesn't work at all, it cant convert WAV
files, I suggest to delete it completely.

scrub_pages(v, 1);
