e2fsck: Bad magic number in super-block
I posted this to the Fedora-list, but thought I might get some additional information here as well. I have a HD that refuses to mount with a 'bad magic number in super-block'. I'm running FedoraCore 6 x86_64. Question About Relocating Journal on Other Device
Hi. I'm using e2fsprogs 1.23 on a Roswell system with a patched 2.4.7 kernel (using patch ext3-2.4-0.9.5-247) and am trying to create an ext3 filesystem whose journal is located on another device. The incantation I'm trying is: mke2fs -j -J device=/dev/hdc2 /dev/hdc3 I keep getting an error along the lines of "mke2fs: Journal superblock not found". I've tried creating

Question on installing 2.6.18
Hi, I have a need to install 2.6.18 kernel. After I configure, make, make modules, make install (all that is good). The last thing I do is 'make install'. This also modifies grub.conf and adds an entry for my new kernel. However it leaves the old kernel as still the default. Is there a way to have it automatically set my new kernel as the default in grub.conf so when I reboot the new

CentOS 5 grub boot problem
I never thought I'd say this, but I think it's easier to do this with GRUB 2. Anyway I did an installation to raid1's in CentOS 6's installer, which still uses GRUB legacy. I tested removing each of the two devices and it still boots. These are the commands in its log: : Running... ['/sbin/grub-install', '--just-copy'] : Running... ['/sbin/grub',

centos4.2:raid1:grub
Hi! Whew, I have googled around a lot w/this but can't quite seem to come up w/the right answer. This system works beautifully w/nothing wrong w/it. But my goal is to be able to test the raid system by just unplugging hda to mimic a faulty drive and have it just carry on and boot from hdc. md0 = hda1/hdc1 /boot (primary boot partitions on both drives) md1 = hda2/hdc2 / is it possible to
