Hey,
I''m trying to install ruby on rails on windows xp with cygwin. I
installed the rails gem but when I go to create an application I get
the following : "No such file or directory - /dev/urandom" the error
seems to be coming form secret_key_generator.rb line 22. But I can''t
find a file of that name
Thanks

/dev/urandom|random and Solaris
Hello,
Being new to the list i hope this question has not been asked before....
As you might know Solaris 9 supportes /dev/random and /dev/urandom bij
default and earlier version need to install a patch to have these
devices....
But the configuration script under Solaris (Sparc/X86) does not test the
existing of the devices... is this to be known as a error/bug? and is
there a patch?
thanks

/etc/urandom and Solaris
I feel very silly asking this, because I saw the answer to this question one
time and can't remember what it was. OpenSSH uses /dev/urandom or /dev/random
which Solaris does not have (verified with a call to the Sun software folks).
How do I make OpenSSH happy with a Solaris substitute for /etc/urandom?
Thanks

stable / unstable parallel install?
Hi,
Is there some easy way to install both 2.x and unstable xen
tools at the same machine? Seems /usr is hardcoded everythere
in the tools Makefiles, looks like there is no easy way to put
them to different paths (say, prefix /opt/xen2 and /opt/xen3)
:-/

[PATCH] Convert shutdown to use xenstore
The attached patch:
1. Converts the shutdown driver and xend to use the store instead of
control messages,
2. Includes Anthony''s xenstore notification code, and
3. Changes xend so that sysrq''s are no longer sent as "special case"
shutdown messages. Store keys are cheap, so making the sysrq
delivery less obscure is good.
I think I have made all of the

[PATCH] Guest boot loader support
Attached is an updated version of the patch to add boot loader support
for guest domains.
Changes from the initial set of patches:
* Per Ian''s request, adds an option to specify booting a specific kernel
from the host domain (you can specify it either with the title of the
boot loader config entry or with the grub 0-based index)
* Reduces some of the code duplication for finding out

"table(droplevels(aq)$Month)" in manual page of droplevels
The last line of the example in droplevels' manual page seems to be incorrect to me. I think it should read: "table(droplevels(aq$Month))". Amazingly (I don't understand) both variants seem to produce the same result (R 3.3.3):
---
> aq <- transform(airquality, Month = factor(Month, labels = month.abb[5:9]))
> aq <- subset(aq, Month != "Jul")

w2k ADS + Samba ADS Member, quirky browse mode
Hello,
I'm seeing an odd quirk running samba 3.0.21c & winbind
with kerberos 1.3.4 joining a windows 2000 ADS domain
on RHEL3.
The Samba server's hostname is "staging".
I run:
/usr/kerberos/bin/kinit Administrator@DOMAIN.COM
net ads join
Then I start up winbind and smb. winbind works prefectly.
I can log in as a domain user from via sshd/PAM, and the

I have a quirky question.
I've been using Ubuntu with Wine for about a week now, and just recently found a couple older games that were meant to run on Windows 95 and 98. So my question is will Wine run/install these games? Or do I need some sort of speacial program or something?

quirky behavior from rbinom (PR#8071)
Full_Name: Chris Paulse
Version: 2.1.1
OS: WinXP
Submission from: (NULL) (129.98.60.134)
This seems strange. I have a small block of code that repeatedly calls rbinom.
I put a break in there in case it returns NaN, as I've been having problems with
this. Here is a transcript from the debug session:
Browse[1]> theP
[1] 1
Browse[1]> yleft[dataIndex]
[1] 3
Browse[1]> rbinom(1,3,1)

documenting quirky behavior of as.POSIXct, as.POSIX.lt regarding AM/PM, possibly other cases
I wanted to put this on the R Wiki, but found the suitable pages were read-only. I wanted to get it out in public to save people work.
I was converting dates like "2009/03/26 01:00:00 AM" using as.POSIXct. I found that using a format of "%Y/%m/%d %I:%M:%S %p" did not work correctly to distinguish AM from PM. Both were converted into the same timestamp. Indeed, what I found

Odd behaviour in within.list() when deleting 2+ variables
The behaviour of within() with list input changes if you delete 2 or more variables, compared to deleting one:
l <- list(x=1, y=2, z=3)
within(l,
{
rm(z)
})
#$x
#[1] 1
#
#$y
#[1] 2
within(l, {
rm(y)
rm(z)
})
#$x
#[1] 1
#
#$y
#NULL
#
#$z
#NULL
When 2 or more variables are deleted, the list entries are instead set to NULL. Is this intended?

IVT SCD support status
Rainer, Arjen
I was wandering around the code, and found that few things are missing
around the IVT code:
- no manpage,
- no entry in driver.list
- no device{mfr, model, type} in the code.
I was about to submit a patch to address the above (ready to commit), but
wanted first to get an update on the status. looking at the last thread,
it's a bit unclear... I'm also interested an upsc

Syntax for 2 ISDN Cards
Hi there,
I searched in mailinglist and in web, but no answer to my problem...
Only this post with no answers:
http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-users/2004-March/038994.html
I'm using CVS Asterisk (05/17/04) with chan_capi 0.3.1. (multiple
controller support). In my Asterisk-box there are 2 Fritzcards
(module for second card compiled with changes on sourcecode found in
the web).
