GNBD and DRBD kernel mods
Hi all, I am using heartbeat and drbd on CentOS 5 (see http://www.centos.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=7816&forum=41 for details).. DRBD and heartbeat are working, and now I want to put GNBD on top on this. However, I installed the latest CentOS-plus kernel (2.6.18-8.1.8.el5.centos.plus) but there doesn't appear to be a kmod-gndb for this kernel. Looks like the latest

lvm over nbd?
I have a system with a large LVM VG partition. I was wondering if there is a way i could share the partition using nbd and have the nbd-client have access the LVM as if it was local. SYSTEM A: /dev/sda3 is a LVM partition and is assigned to VG volgroup1. I want to share /dev/sda3 via nbd-server SYSTEM B: receives A''s /dev/sda3 as /dev/nbd0. I want to access it as VG volgroup1. I am

Hi all, I''ve got a solaris 10 running 9/10 on a T3. It''s an oracle box with 128GB memory RIght now oracle . I''ve been trying to load test the box with bonnie++. I can seem to get 80 to 90 K writes, but can''t seem to get more than a couple K for writes. Any suggestions? Or should I take this to a bonnie++ mailing list? Any help is appreciated. I''m kinda

Newbie problem: disk error launching FC3 in non-0 domain
Hi again I have a minimal Fedora Core 3 image running fine as domain 0 (thanks and sorry for the previous FAQ query) using both the standard install ramdisk image, and the FC3 ramdisk image downloaded from xen sourceforge. However, I can''t get it running in a non-zero domain. In brief, I have a full FC3 installed on /dev/hda1, which I typically use as my domain 0 OS. Then I have a

Unexplained reboots in DRBD82 + OCFS2 setup
We're trying to setup a dual-primary DRBD environment, with a shared disk with either OCFS2 or GFS. The environment is a Centos 5.3 with DRBD82 (but also tried with DRBD83 from testing) . Setting up a single primary disk and running bonnie++ on it works. Setting up a dual-primary disk, only mounting it on one node (ext3) and running bonnie++ works When setting up ocfs2 on the /dev/drbd0

gnbd vs drbd
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Up until now, I have been using drbd for file custers with great success. Yes, it is a PITA, and sometimes you can get annoying sincronization issues (mostly on lab situations). Now I have been considering giving gnbd (with cs/gfs) a try. Do any of you ever crossed this path ? Any comparisons or comments ? TIA, - -- Rodrigo Barbosa "Quid

DRBD,GFS2 and GNBD without all clustered cman stuff
Hi all, Where i want to arrive: 1) having two storage server replicating partition with DRBD 2) exporting via GNBD from the primary server the drbd with GFS2 3) inporting the GNBD on some nodes and mount it with GFS2 Assuming no logical error are done in the last points logic this is the situation: Server 1: LogVol09, DRDB configured as /dev/drbd0 replicated to Server 2. DRBD seems to work

Xen, GFS, GNBD and DRBD?
Hi all, We're looking at deploying a small Xen cluster to run some of our smaller applications. I'm curious to get the lists opinions and advice on what's needed. The plan at the moment is to have two or three servers running as the Xen dom0 hosts and two servers running as storage servers. As we're trying to do this on a small scale, there is no means to hook the

2.0.7 -> 3.0.0 upgrade
Hey all, I''m thinking about moving my 2.0.7 install over to 3.0.0 for eventual use in a production environment. Two questions: 1) Do people think 3.0.0 is ready for production - or is it just a testing/unstable playpen? 2) What do I have to change - just the xen-2.0.7.gz for do I have to recompile the dom0/domU kernels too? Cheers, Matthew Walster

[RFC] Splitting cluster.git into separate projects/trees
Hi everybody, as discussed and agreed at the Cluster Summit we need to split our tree to make life easier in the long run (etc. etc.). We need to decide how we want to do it and there are different approaches to that. I was able to think of 3. There might be more and I might not have taken everything into consideration so comments and ideas are welcome. At this point we haven't really

Expandable network storage
I want to thank everyone who has provided insight into my thread about clustering MySql. I kind of just sat back and watched it develop. I learned a lot from it all. I have been reading all of the documentation on clustering provided by Centos/Red Hat, and find I travel in circles. I read one chapter and answer a self-imposed question but I end up asking myself another. What I really want to

Re: Which distributed file system for xen
Thanks John and Chris for your commentary. I''m constantly amazed at what is out there -- projects I didn''t know existed. I think Chris and I are looking for something similiar -- fault tolerant/high-availability over slow/fast links with ease of administration and (ideally) zero downtime. I''d like to virtualize my storage along with my Xen machines. After looking at

Physical disks + Software Raid + lvm in domU
Hi, I''m trying to setup my box as described below: - The Dom0 exports two disks as physical devices to the DomU - DomU use the two devices to assemble a software raid device (/dev/md0) - On the /dev/md0 I create a lvm volume group and lvm volumes on it. Everything seems to work fine if the lvm volumes on the DomU are lightly used. Under heavy load the DomU freeze up immediately. The

Xen and ACPI Sleep
Hi, I am currently testing Xen on my laptop and was wondering if there was any way to enable ACPI sleep so that I can resume sessions when I''m on the go. Is this possible? If so, could you please highlight how to achieve this? Thank you. -- Mathew Brown mathewbrown@fastmail.fm -- http://www.fastmail.fm - Access all of your messages and folders

Poor RAID performance new Xeon server?
I have just purchased an HP ProLiant HP ML110 G5 server and install ed CentOS 5.2 x86_64 on it.
