RailsTidy: validates your HTML
Hello everybody, I needed something to validates my HTML templates so I wrote a plugin and here is its first version: RailsTidy is a plugin for Ruby On Rails. It allows you to * validate your rhtml templates, * validate the html output of your functional tests, * clean the html generated by rails. For doing all this, it uses * Tidy[1], the popular HTML validator and

RXML: <ruby:put expr="1+2"/>
Hello railers, I''ve always been annoyed by the fact that ERB doesn''t respect XML specs. As I mostly write XHTML, I''m trying to write a renderer using only valid XML files. Here is an example of a file so you get the feeling of what it''s going to do: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"? > <html

Component or plugin
Hi! I have been learning rails for a couple of week now. Mostly i''ve worked on a authorize/roles system and now i go to the point that i want to separate it from en rest of my application to share it with others and to use it in other projects. It is a quite simple system that i implement using before_filter. My vision is to separate the authorize methods and even some basic

Grim Fandango in wine
Hey all, It's a thorn in my side, I had monkey island 3 running in wine, but this one just doesn't cooperate. The setup program exits with a problem copying install files (error 112, if it means anything). If anyone has got it working, let me know. Thanks

naming convention for bridge tables.
I read somewhere that the correct naming of bridge tables is in alpha order. For example. I have two tables: houses, and colors. If I want to create a bridge table to associate colors with houses, I would name the table: colors_houses The associations work fine. But, if I have a table named: track_houses. Building a bridge table called: colors_track_houses, gives me model associaton errors.

how do i reload a module in the vendor directory?
This seems like a fairly straight forward question. I have code in the vendor directory. Any modifications that I make to the code are not respected. My rails app is in development mode so I would expect any require ''code'' to be re-parsed. But this is not occuring... How so? I have a test to post if I need to, but I get the feeling that I am just missing something simple. I

[LLVMdev] llvm configuration error
The problem was solved by setting environment variable CXX. But somehow a new one came. The gcc is installed in /usr/local/gcc-4.2.3. I managed to change clang/lib/Frontend/InitHeaderSearch.cpp clang/lib/Driver/ToolChains.cpp to force clang use the crt lib for that version. For details, plz see http://www.advogato.org/person/redi/diary/228.html. So now I have no problem of using clang to

[LLVMdev] llvm configuration error
Are you saying this is this the first time you've tried to compile it on the cluster? It's easy to determine if g++ is installed and in the PATH - just get a console on the cluster and type "g++". However, AFAIK cluster nodes are not usually configured for software development, are they? Typically you build your code locally and then job it out to the cluster? Greg

[LLVMdev] llvm configuration error
I've compiled llvm several times, but this is the first time I saw this error when I was trying to compile it in a cluster. checking tool compatibility... configure: error: g++|clang++|icc required but not found I am pretty sure g++ is installed and in the path. I then downloaded clang++ binary and set path. The error was still there. OS: opensuse 10.1 gcc, g++ version: 4.2.3 Any idea? Bo

Log or diary file
Hi! Is it possible to set a file to which both commands and output would get automatically saved? I've tried with sink(), but only get the output. I mean something like a combined history and sink, as you get with File/Save to File.. in the windows GUI. Tis is done with diary filename in Matlab, and you can state diary on and diary off to control what is being saved to the file. Thanks Agus
