problems with compiling.
Hello ocfs2-users,
I am having a problem compiling ocfs2 in Fedora Core 6.
During compile-time I get the following error.

pam_limits and OpenSSH
Hi,
I have an account server with many users. It uses pam_limits module to
limit memory usage etc. The problem is that sometimes SSH rejects
connection after the password is entered. In syslog it prints something
like "fork: Resource temporary unavailable". After killing some root
processes it works perfectly.
Perhaps the daemon first sets process limits and then switches to

ZFS write time performance question
HI,
The question is a ZFS performance question in reguards to SAN traffic.
We are trying to benchmark ZFS vx VxFS file systems and I get the following performance results.

Dual port Qlogic HBA with SFCSM (for ZFS) and DMP (of VxFS)
Sun Fire v490 server
LSI Raid 3994 on backend

Cc the QEMU Block Layer mailing list (qemu-block@nongnu.org), who might
have more insights here; and wrap long lines.

nisplussam support
Hello everyone,
As I've read Release Notes, the nisplussam plug-in was removed from Samba 3.0.x
However I cannot compile 2.2.12 on my Solaris 10 machine (gives me undefined symbol probably due to gcc v. 3.4.3). Is
there a way to include nisplussam support manually? I downloaded pdb_nisplus.c and tried to change configure.in and
configure, but as I'm not a programmer, I couldn't get

PostgreSQL
Hi @ all
Does anyone has some experience with PostgreSQL and RoR? Does it gives
any disadvantages or problems with PostgreSQL? I have a webapplication,
that manage (read/write) many records (no. 200''000 records) and I search
a ideal database. Actually, I have two options: - MySQL / - PostgreSQL
And now, I would like to ascertain a good solution...
Thx, ribit

Bug#543479: network-bridge doesn't handle secondary address of ${netdev}
Package: xen-utils-common
Version: 3.2.0-2
In network bridge, IP addresses of ${netdev} are correctly transferred
to ${tdev} which later is renamed to ${bridge} (by default = ${netdev}).
But then there is ifup ${bridge} which sets up again the network
configuration for ${bdrige}/${netdev} and aliases (e.g. eth0:1 defined
in /etc/network/interfaces) are loosed.

Oracle on NetApp
Hello,
Anyone using or tested Oracle (OLTP load) on NetApp? Connected via Fibre
Channel not NFS.
Performance is good or should we better stay with "classic" SAN storage
like HP EVA or similar boxes from EMC or Hitachi?
In EMC test papers NetApp does not look good. In NetApp papers - vice
versa. :) So I'm somewhat confused.
I remember someone in this list saying that

Russian CHARS
Hello samba,
How can mount (smbmount) MSWIN2003 resource from Linux client
(RHEL4U2) to see russian.
I am using following command:
# smbmount //srv2/v$ /mnt/backup/srv2 -o 'credentials=userpass,iocharset=KOI8-R,codepage=koi8r'
What I should use env. variables or additional parameters from this
command (smbmount) ?

Controlling share ACL through W2K's Computer Management MMC
Hi,
This is samba 3.0.2a-1 on Debian testing. I'm trying to change share
permission with Computer Management snap-in in Windows 2003 Server, but
only access denied is given. The only answer I found is
http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2001-December/017809.html
. So I have to use "change share command" and login as local root? I
don't like this. Is this the

De plus, je voudrais pouvoir travailler avec la

Hi!
Since I started to use Debian kernel 2.6.10 (in unstable), the problem
disappeared. Fedora Core 3 uses 2.6.10 too so I don't know

OCFS 1.2.4 memory problems still?
I have a 2 node cluster of HP DL380G4s. These machines are attached via
scsi to an external HP disk enclosure. They run 32bit RH AS 4.0 and
OCFS 1.2.4, the latest release. They were upgraded from 1.2.3 only a
few days after 1.2.4 was released. I had reported on the mailing list
that my developers were happy, and things seemed faster. However, twice
in that time, the cluster has gone down due

CentOS 6, SSD recommendations?
Hello,
because of high disk load we plan to move from disk (raid1) to ssd.
Are there recommendations for
- manufacturer
- file sytem
- raid1
The Red Hat Storage Administration Guide says:
- no raid 1
- ext4 only
is this state of the art?
I have searched list,centos.org 2015 - nothing found.
I found in the year 2012 / 2013:

Is this confict of different versions of R or something else?
Hello!
I have had some problems lately with use of R at home and school. At my home
laptop (Ubuntu linux 64bit & R-2.12.0) R works just fine. But when I take my
codes to school(Windows XP 32bit & R-2.10.1 I think) and run those there
those codes probably won't work. Functions as combinations() didn't work and
expand.grid() worked a bit differently. About expand.grid I just

REPOST: Musings on Rails and logging philosophies
[OK, since I stupidly posted this over the July 4th week[end] and got no
responses, let''s try it again...]
As a perpetual Rails dabbler, I make an awful lot of typical beginner
mistakes. And the logs are always either too verbose or too sparse to help
me. And it started me thinking.
I came from one of the largest production OLTP systems in the world, and
the one thing that helped
