actionwebservice soap client
So I''ve created a few actionwebservice soap servers now and have been accessing them from a stand alone ruby client using soap4r. Now I have a rails app that needs to act as a client to one of my soap servers. From what I can tell, I basically have to copy all the api definitions from the server and put them on the client? Is that correct? Makes sense and seems kind of strange all at

soap4r 1.5.5 seems to break actionWebService tests
Hi, I just upgraded to soap4r 1.5.5, and now all my Rails Functional tests for the action_web_services fail as follows, any ideas what I did wrong? Thanks TypeError: can''t modify frozen object /usr/local/lib/ruby/1.8/xsd/qname.rb:78:in `name='' /usr/local/lib/ruby/1.8/soap/rpc/element.rb:118:in `set_param''

Actionwebservice as a SOAP client to .NET services.
I have read the (scant) documentation on the datanoise actionwebservice gems and can''t figure out how you are supposed to structure the SOAP client. Has anybody ever used actionwebservice as a client? If so could somebody please put a sample someplace? Thanks. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google

ActionWebService SOAP Faults aren''t schema valid
I''m working with an ActionWebService client talking to an ActionWebService server through one of DataPower''s XS40 XML Security Gateways. One of the intrinsic functions of this gateway is automatic SOAP schema validation. When testing some failure cases, I noticed that SOAP Faults returned by ActionWebService aren''t schema valid to the SOAP 1.1 schema, specifically:

ActionWebService and namespaces
Hi all, I''ve tried to search the mailing list, web, etc. and haven''t found anything that seems to answer my question. I have a WSDL for a web service written in Java, and I''m trying to consume it in ruby using ActionWebService. I''ve created my API and some struct classes. I''ve found the :namespace option to ActionWebService::Client::Soap.new, but

Regarding using Web service to handle file uploads
I am trying to code a Web Service in rails that can handle file uploads. Now as i read, SOAP 1.1 doesn''t support this yet..so i will have to use SOAP4R, right? This is fine from server side...but will this API will be compatible to .NET clients, which will be using standard SOAP API perhaps. Any idea, whats the way to go here?

ActionWebService and WSDL
The suggested approach for developing a web service using ActionWebService appears to be start by defining the API you want and then you can generate WSDL. I want to start from WSDL. I''ve tried wsdl2ruby but the Ruby code it generates does not appear to play well with Rails. Is there a way I can get what I want? I''m new at this so if the answer is a forehead slapper,

currency conversion webservice in a rails app?
Hi, I''m interested in using a currency conversion web service in my rails app. Does anyone have a free service that they use and like? I found this one http://www.webservicex.net/WS/WSDetails.aspx?CATID=2&WSID=10 I''ve tried to make a simple, plain Ruby script to connect to this and get a conversion rate without success. How do I integrate a webservice into my rails app? I

AWS Client - There has to be a better way
I''m working on building a SOAP client with AWS, i.e: class PersonAPI < ActionWebService::API::Base api_method :find_all, :returns => [[Person]] end soap_client = ActionWebService::Client::Soap.new(PersonAPI, "http://...") persons = soap_client.find_all This works well but I think it breaks down quickly when you try to do real world work. Lets take a moderately

Disabling logging for web service calls?
I''m using ActionWebService to allow users to upload files to my rails app. I do this by encoding to Base64. The problem with this is that rails logs the file data so my log file size spirals out of control. Is there any way to selectively disable logging when the web api is invoked? ActiveRecord::Base.silence doesn''t seem too useful here as it''s only called AFTER

before_filter in actionwebservice controller using direct dispatching
The docs say that for direct dispatching mode to use controller filters, but when the controller is run I get the following error. The authorize method is in application.rb. Works fine when it''s not a web service api. Should I be using before_invocation instead even with direct dispatching mode? Or can I not have the authorize method in application.rb? undefined method

Problem Consuming a Web Service
I''m trying to consume a webservice from my rails application and have discovered an interesting problem. I can call webservice functions just fine, as long as they do not require any arguments, but function that do require arguments do not work. The arguments are sent as either null or an empty string. My API has these method definitions: api_method :otherFunction,

I''m relatively new to Rails at this point and am in the very beginning stages of understanding how the system works. Returning related models with ActionWebService
Hi, I have an ActionWebService set up and I am wondering if it is possible to return related models through its intrinsic support for ActiveRecord. For instance, suppose I have an Author model that has_many Books. I would like to return a particular author and all of their books in one SOAP message. For now, I''ve been deconstructing the ActiveRecord Model and stuffing it all into

XML-RPC Webservice API
Hi, After following the excellent tutorials in the Agile Web Development with Rails book, I was able to get my webservice working pretty much perfectly :) I can access it via SOAP and XML-RPC and look at service.wsdl to find the API. What I can''t do however is get the API for the XML-RPC call. It fails with : Internal protocol error: NilClass is not a valid input stream. It must
