what is the correct way to stop/start a mongrel instance using monit with mongrel cluster
Hi --
I have been reading documentation and googling around to find the
correct way to do this but I have found many ways that seem to not
work, or the documentation makes no reference to.
I am using mongrel cluster with 10 mongrels for each server. Recently
I installed monit but which lead me to find the correct way to
start/stop mongrel instances one pid at a time. I am assuming one pid

Fastest Way to run Rails
Hi,
I am a bit confused about what is the fastest way to run a rails application.
I have seen examples which use Apache, mongrel, lighthttpd, fastcgi etc.
Is there a correct way to do it? Or is it just a personal choice?
Thanks,
Keith

mongrel cluster restart with capistrano fails but manually works
Hi all,
I am out of my head here...
I have a 3 node cluster with 10 mongrels running on each. When I
deploy, I break all the mongrels every time. I have tried just about
everything. I can restart my mongrels without a hitch manually, it''s
only when I use cap deploy. Maybe I am missing something here... so if
I can get some help it would be appreciated. The errors are the
typical mongrel

problem restarting mongrel_cluster outside RAILS_ROOT - patch and other option
Hey folks. Sorry for the SUPER long email but if you''ve been
experiencing the same problems with restarting your mongrel cluster with
Capistrano, then I have two solutions that have worked for me and I''m
pretty sure will for you as well.
THE PROBLEM
I was having trouble restarting my clusters using Capistrano. I''ve seen
this come up before on the mailing list and

Getting it right - Mongrel Upgrade - Cap 2.0
I just got the fire to clean up how our app is deployed and upgrading mongrel.
Currently, our app is being deployed in a user''s home directory. This
has caused some problems regards to user/group permissions...
We decided we were going to move everything to /var/www/app which led
me to the whole general layout of our deployment and some questions.

mongrel timing out
I am not sure when it exactly occurred but I have 2 servers I am about to
migrate to apache+mongrel from lighty+fastcgi
oddly, both my servers seemed to have died at the same time everytime I
restart within a 24 hr period ( I don''t know when, my logs don''t show it ).
Can someone please point me in the direction of what I need to do to trace
the cause of this. Or what you would

Mongrel 1.0.2 on Ubuntu Feisty
Hi everybody,
I''ve been trying to setup a Ruby on Rails application on a Ubuntu Feisty
machine and I''ve spent a lot of time trying to figure out why Nginx and
mongrel_cluster weren''t working. The setup was correct (based on some
tutorials found on the internet), but there weren''t any pid files for the
mongrels started.
In case anybody else has experienced the

Reposted from Superuser - Installing Ruby on Rails on Ubuntu 10.04: A Living Nightmare
I''m reposting this here from my original post on Superuser[1], to
hopefully get more relevant feedback from more experienced RoR users.
I need to get a RoR environment up and running, because I have a
client that needs some RoR work done on her website. Although I''m new
to RoR, I''m a quick learner and was expecting installing and setting
up the environment was easy, so

Arbitrary system files readable in 1.0.4 - 1.1.2
I just found a vulnerability in one of my web apps that was running
Mongrel 1.1.2 where I could go to URIs like
/.%252e/.%252e/.%252e/.%252e/.%252e/.%252e/.%252e/etc/passwd and it
would serve the actual /etc/passwd file.
The issue seems to be in lib/mongrel/handlers.rb in the change from
1.0.3 to 1.0.4

1.1.2
Hi all,
There is a bug with Mongrel on JRuby 1.0.3 that the JRuby guys want
fixed before they release it.
If it''s ok with people I''d like to fix that, revert (at least for now)
the proxy response change, and tag that as 1.1.2 and release it.
Anything wrong with this plan?

mongrel, memcache and sessions
Hi,
I''m using mongrel-0.3.13.3 with memcache-client-1.0.3 for storing sessions.
It was working fine with actionpack-1.12.0, but when I upgraded to
actionpack-1.12.3, I started getting a "can''t convert String into Hash"
error from memcache.rb from memcache-client.
I was able to fix it by changing the way the MemCache object was created in

improving on: truncate(..) + rendered text ?
Hello all,
In a summary page I need to show the 1st 100 chars of textilized messages.
Problem: truncate(..) would often cut in the middle of html tags =>
random result.
My first idea was to "repair" the broken text with Hpricot (as I use
it elsewhere in the project), but it''s not perfect:
<h1>abcd</h
would give
<h1>abcd</h</h1>

[AArch64][SVE] Floating Point Code Gen
Hello,
I am following up on the issue discussed at the SVE meeting, Sander
mentioned that there were some patterns missing from SVE CodeGen for
floating point operations, but I was unable to identify them.
He mentioned something about looking at the ISelLowering for AArch64 to
identify them, so if there is any information of that regard it would be
greatly appreciated so we can contribute with
