The following series of patches attempts to detach metadata I/O from struct inode. They are currently tied together pretty tightly. Metadata reads happen via the ocfs2_read_blocks() functions, writes via both jbd2 and ocfs2_write_blocks(). - Each inode has a cache of associated metadata blocks stored on its ip_metadata_cache member. In ocfs2_add_branch, we use the rightmost rec of the leaf extent block to generate the e_cpos for the new added branch. In the most case, it is OK but if there is a gap between the the root(or branch) 's rightmost rec and the leaf, it will cause kernel panic if we insert some clusters in it. In ocfs2_remove_btree_range, when calling ocfs2_lock_refcount_tree and ocfs2_prepare_refcount_change_for_del failed, it goes to out and then tries to call mutex_unlock without mutex_lock before.
