Cisco IP Phone services.xml sample?
Does anyone have a small, plain services.xml file for a cisco ip phone,
preferably one that will work on a 7960?
I can't seem to get my xml right, and no matter what I send to the phone
I keep getting parse errors.
Thanks

UserEngine - rake bootstrap aborted
Hi there,
I''ve just installed login_engine and user_engine from the repositories,
followed the setup procedures as documented in:
vendor/plugins/user_engine/README
But I''m getting the following failure:
vince@vaio:~/Projects/Booking$ rake bootstrap
(in /home/vince/Projects/Booking)
rake aborted!

Site Navigation With Polymorphic Has Many Through
Hi, seem to keep running into a wall here. I can''t find any resources on
site navigation that can deal with any model being in the nav, allow
nesting, and can dynamically update.
So I thought about it for a while, and decided on a MenuItems class, which
contained the position of the child in relation to it''s siblings, where the
parent and the child were polymorphic. Then a given

Authentication: UserEngine or own creation?
Hi all
I''m coding a project that needs a lot of authentication stuff... e.g. I
write sort of a profile area, where users can create their different
profiles.
So I need to check if a user has the right to browse the profiles, if he
has the right to change them all (as an admin) or the ones that belong
to him etc. etc. This needs quite some logic...
Now I wonder whether to use the

UserEngine -- Permission.synchronize_with_controllers -- trouble with my own controller modules
I suspect there''s an easier version of this question that I could ask,
but I''m not sure where I''m going wrong. I have LoginEngine and
UserEngine setup and seemingly running fine. However, not all of my
controllers are being found when I run "rake sync_permissions".
Specifically, it''s the controllers that are not in the base
controllers folder, but

How to list all models of an application?!?
How can I get a list of all model classes in the domain of a Rails
application (all models, both in "app/models" and in
components/somedir/model.rb)?
Thanx in advance for your precious help!

Class redefinition
Hi,
Suppose I want to redefine the Ruby String class in a Rails app. In which
file is it the most suitable to write the redefinition?
Thanks

How painful is the 1.0 -> 1.1 upgrade going to be?
Does anyone have a sense for how painful the 1.0 -> 1.1 upgrade is
going to be for existing apps? I''m finishing up my first real RoR
application with Rails 1.0. I can live with it staying at that level,
but I really want to use the has_many :through attribute to clean up
some of my code.
I''m not particularly interested in edge Rails, mainly because the

Controller spec: testing that scope is set
In a Rails controller I set the scope on a model class in an around
filter. I have defined expectations on the model classes, and ideally, I
would add a further expectation for the scope. Is this already possible
in some way? How would I go about adding support a scope expectation?

Observing changes to a text field
I''ve noticed that using several TimedObservers (prototype.js) on a page
to watch for changes to text fields (haven''t tried forms) can have a
non-negligible effect on the CPU cycles used by the browser process.
Nothing dramatic, to be sure, but unnecessary.
Autocompleter.Base (controls.js) follows a smarter strategy to watch for
changes. Currently this functionality is tied

Timing out ajax requests?
Has someone come up with a generic way to handle ajax requests that
exceed a certain time?
In my concrete case, I have several select boxes for drilling down a
hierarchy. When the user clicks an option, the next deeper level is
retrieved. To avoid multiple concurrent requests, I disable the select
box. As the request may take too long or cause an error, I set a
timeout that re-enables the

instabilities in wxRuby 1.9.6
I have recently started to use wxRuby, because I have used the wxWidgets
library from C++ for a few years and found it an excellent toolkit. I am
using Ubuntu 8.04 and version 1.9.6 of wxRuby.
A problem though is a number of instabilities. This may be due to my own
ignorance, but I have usually found C++/wxWidgets, once the program compiles
it will at least stay working, if at times

Introspecting validates_presence_of
Hello people,
I''d like to detect whether an attribute of a model has
vaildates_presence_of applied to it so I can automatically apply a
mandatory (*) to the field...it doesn''t look easy...any ideas?
Cheers,

Unit testing
Recently, I''ve started to write unit tests for some of my scripts. In
general,it''s no worse in JavaScript than in Ruby or Java. I didn''t have
the courage to try Selenium, but had a look at JsUnit. Unfortunately,
in Konqueror it produces unfathomable errors and in Firefox it is slow
beyond imagination.
Anyway, writing tests for functions that are computational or

[UserEngine] Configuring minimal access without logins
Hi,
I''m playing around with the UserEngine for limiting access to my app and I like
what I see so far. One question, however, I''d like to be able to set it up so
that any user navigating to the site is automatically set as "anonymous" or
some such access level with minimal permissions, without having to login.
IOW, the login function should only be used by

url_for: :overwrite_params went missing
Somewhere between 0.13.1 and the current SVN version
the :overwrite_params option to url_for (and related methods) went
missing. I can''t tell whether this was deliberate or by mistake, and I
have no idea how to get the same functionality in some other way
either.

Validation Reflection plugin
The validation reflection plugin adds three things
(1) Reflective access to validations
- ModelClass.reflect_on_all_validations
- ModelClass.reflect_on_validations_for(:property)
(2) It provides "declarative" methods for defining
validations based on database metadata
- validates_presence_of_mandatory_content_columns
- validates_lengths_of_string_attributes

PDF views?
I know there''s wiki page on generating PDF[*], but that''s not really
what I want. I don''t need to create arbitrary PDF. What I''d like to do
is create PDF templates and fill in the blanks. Roughly, I''m looking
for functionality akin to the mail merge feature of word processors,
including conditional and repeated elements, say, table rows.
