OT: Measure 2U Server Amp Usage
Hi,
Running a bunch of CentOS servers on 2U supermicro equipment, usually with
8 drives on Adaptec SmartRAID V or LSI Megaraid.
In designing a rack in a data center, the question arises as to how to
measure the amperage the server uses, prior to investing in power drops
that actually do that for you, even remotely, for about $260.00-300USD per
unit. This number is the important one these days

Global find and replace in RADRAILS. Can you do it?
It seems as though it cannot be done. Does anyone know how to do it?
Thanks

What made me write this acclaim is the number of postings I've seen
about Samba's instability - i.e. run-away processes, profiles going
wrong, ACL problems and more.

Variable bitrate and bandwidth usage
Hi -
Suppose I have a Q-1 Vorbis stream being served from a machine on a
low-bandwidth internet connection. I listen to the stream locally using
Winamp, which shows the bitrate fluctuating between around 35-55 kbps,
the average being 48k.
Now suppose I have 10 external listeners connected. How much bandwidth
will they need/use? Common sense says:
average bitrate * 10 = 480kbps (plus any

Has many / belongs to error with mysql
Hi,
I''ve got stuck with a problem on my rails app - I''ve created a database
for quotes and bookings, with a futher table "eventdetails" (details of
a quote or booking) linked one-one for both tables using a polymorphic
assciation. This all works, but I am now trying to link a quote to a
number of bookings with a has_many and belongs_to (the foreign key is in

scalability and bandwidth usage?
Hello All,
How are you all doing today? Good i hope.
I am wondering if some one could please comment on the scalability
limitations of Tinc as far as bandwidth usage and connections?
Thinking about the documentation on Tinc suggests that if it is always
trying to maintain a full mesh topology and if there would be many
nodes, e.g. more than about 100 or so active at a give time, then Tinc

Speex and bandwidth usage on Asterisk's IAX
Hi,
I've just joined the list. Thanks Jean-Marc and other contributors
for your efforts with Speex.
Anyway - I've been hired by a local firm to investigate,
write-code-as-required and generally help them get the maximum
bang-for-the-byte for VOIP traffic on the hyperexpensive Internet
bandwidth going out of South Africa.
I started the process by doing some methodical measurements and

Bandwidth Usage
If there is no sound input on the client audio stream being
sent to the icecast server does this mean there is no
bandwidth being used - or does icecast use bandwidth even
for times when there is no sound on the client input end?
Kind Regards,
Keith Roberts

Dovecot IDLE bandwidth usage
Hi list,
I just recently discovered the IMAP IDLE command and tried it out with
my Dovecot server. It seems to work fine and all, but it seems to be
using quite a deal of bandwidth, because of the "* OK Still here"
messages sent by the server at two minute intervals. I would argue that
is a bit of a problem when using the IDLE command for "Push mail" on a
mobile phone.

app/controllers/admin/user_controller.rb
app/controllers/login_controller.rb
Now suppose I need some links

MY BAD (in caps)...really sorry to have bothered. I was thinking of -S
-E options but forgot the -c option.
clang -c -emit-llvm test.c
lli test.o
both work fine :).

So I think that that final result is pretty amazing.
That's 35% less bandwidth usage than G.729. Even without
the preprocessors help you do 17% better.

Are you intending to try to link? That error message isn't coming from clang, but from /usr/bin/ld. If you just want the bitcode for the one source file, you need to pass "-c" as well, just like if you want an object file.

Sip bandwidth usage
Hi All-
I'm working on a project that will have remote (internet)access to an *
server through SIP phones, either soft or hard ones.
Does anyone have any experience to share about which SIP product they
are using under similar conditions, as well as which codec is being used
and bandwidth usage?
TIA!
