FiberChannel, and EMC tutorial?
Hi all, Can anyone explain to me, or point me to any docs that explain how the following numbers map together? I have multiple LUNS exported to my HBA''s from multiple EMC arrays. zpool status, and /dev/dsk show device names like: c0t6006048000038794003753594D333837d0 ONLINE 0 0 0 c0t6006048000038794003753594D333838d0 ONLINE 0 0 0

mark_buffer_dirty() reports buffer_head is not uptodate in JBDroutine journal_create() in kernel 2.6.
Hi Stephen, I found a bug in JBD routine journal_create() in kernel 2.6, when I debug the OCFS v2 driver. mark_buffer_dirty() reports buffer_head is not uptodate. See following bug description. ------------------------------------------------------- OS: Linux Kernel 2.6.1 Plarform: IA32 Steps: 1. Build the ocfs v2 driver under kernel 2.6. 2. insert ocfs2.ko into kernel 2.6. 3. mkfs.ocfs2 -F

Really high io wait times with OCFS2 in a mail server
Hi there. We have just setup a mail server with storage in a EMC Clariion SAN with fiberchannel connections. We're using two HP Proliant servers sharing the mail filesystem with OCFS2. The mail filesystem has several big directories having the biggest one over 7000 user directories. Some of the users have over 4000 messages, using Maildir as mail layout. We are experiencing really high

Dropped frames streaming video to samba
Hi, We've got a setup here with a samba server in front of a fibrechannel array. It's a pretty vanilla samba setup exporting an xfs filesystem. The box is an opteron 265 with 4G RAM and a QLogic QLA2312 HBA running SLES9. We can dd an 8G file to a share from a windows workstation in just over 2 minutes (about 65MB/s) and dd back in about 4 minutes. Local disk performance in the machine

About File locking
Is there a way to lock an EXE file on a shared volumn in such a way that only one person can use it at a time? With some kind of sharing violation happening if a second person tries? This is the latest version of SAMBA on a Linux box, and Win95 clients. many thanks. Tony Nichols tnichols@bedford-ind.com.au Network Support Officer Bedford Industries South Australia.

filesystem mounting fails at boot
_netdev The filesystem resides on a device that requires network access (used to prevent the system from attempting to mount these filesystems until the network has been enabled on the system). This device is not a network device (this a SAN not a NAS). To the OS it looks like a normal SCSI attached device, it's /dev/sdb. In the blade there is a HBA (Qlogic) card, and it's

Standard error of standard deviation: bootstrap or theoretical results?
Dear R users, This is more a statistical question rather than an R question. I'd appreciate it if you can give me some suggestions. I have a sample of a time series (sample size 500, fat tail in density). I am trying to calculate the Standard error of standard deviation of a sub-block-sample (sample size 250). I take 100 this kind of sub-block-sample, randomly. For these 100 subsamples, I

filesystem mounting fails at boot
Hi I have an IBM blade with internal harddisks, in hardware RAID1. I've installed a CentOS 6 64bit on it, everything works just fine. After the installation, I've presented a vdisk to the blade from an external SAN (an HP EVA4000), connected through FiberChannel. I've partitioned the disk, formatted it and mounted it under /store, then added it to fstab. Everything was fine, until I

IBM x3755 M3 + Qlogic Fibercahnnel- Virtualization Friendly?
Hello Everyone, Whenever purchasing hardware we make it an effort to validate OS, driver and now hypervisor compatibility. Being a low budget company, we really look for the best bang for the bug. Right now that happens to be: x3755 M3 brandishing the AMD SR5690 chipset. We plan on installing a QLogic fiberchannel and a graphics card that support PCI passthrough. Before doing anything we are

Openfiler question - fiber channel?
Hey folks, I don't seem to be able to get a response from the openfiler forums (and they want 40 quid for the fine manual!), and since there has been a lot of chat about it here lately, I figured I'd ask here. Please forgive my terminology as I am just making my first baby steps into iSCSI and Fiber Channel, and am not very well read on the matters. So I could be using the wrong terms
