OCFS Database too slow
Hi All,
we are using Red Hat 2.1 Kernel e38 along with MSA 1000.
ocfs version being used is
$ rpm -qa | grep ocfs
ocfs-tools-1.0.10-1
ocfs-2.4.9-e-enterprise-1.0.12-1
ocfs-support-1.0.10-1
Database Version is 9.2.0.5
However we find that the performance of the database on OCFS is too slow. even a select count(1) from all_tables takes like a while to complete.
We initially assumed RAC is

AW: OCFS 1.0.9-6 performance with EVA 6000 Storage
Hi all,
Sorry to break in, but I find this thread a bit interesting.
Jeram: I'm not very familiar with HP storage and cannot find too much info
on the EVA 6000 array. Is it related to the EVA 5000 somehow, or is it a NAS
array?
In any case, how is the array configured. If the algorithm for hartbeat is
as described earlier (36 sector reads and one write per second (per
host???)) then you

OCFS filesystem used 7%
Hi all...
I have a strange problem. 2 of my mount points already use 7% of space, even
when I check the directory is empty.
When I re-format it, it release the space for a while, after 1 or 2 days,
the space is used again for 7% - 10 %.
What could be the reason?
I am using RHAS 2.1 Enterprise Kernel 2.1 and OCFS release 1.0.9-6
Thanks

OCFS Questions
Hi OCFS Gurus...
I have 2 questions for OCFS ver 1.0.10.1
1. What is the Maximum mount point suggested if we are using OCFS ?
2. Is there any method to tune the OCFS to booster the IO performance?
Awaiting ur responses...
Thanks in Advance...

question about oracle shared home install
Hi All,
Scenario: I'm trying to install 9i rac on a 2 node cluster on OCFS2
OS: Oracle enterprise linux
To my understanding, OCFS2 supports shared home installs which to my
knowledge is not only can i have datafile and control files but also
clustermanager files and binaries (pretty much everything: no files or
executables need to kept local to any nodes). I have one single shared
file for

OCFS + RHS2.1 + RHAS3.0
Hi all
Just need some ideas, is there any consideration if I collaborate OCFS +
RHAS2.1 + RHAS 3.0 ( with 64bit Processor) in a RAC environment with 10
nodes.
TIA

A couple more minor questions about OCFS and RHE L3
Sort of a followup...
We've been running OCFS in sync mode for a little over a month now,
and it has worked reasonably well. Performance is still a bit spotty, but
we're told that the next kernel update for RHEL3 should improve the
situation. We might eventually move to Polyserve's cluster filesystem for
its multipathing capability and potentially better performance, but at least
we

OCFS for Windows?
Can I run OCFS on Windows? We have OCFS running on RHAS 2.1 and have some
customers asking about clustering on windows servers instead of linux. Are
there some docs I can refer to?

Multiple interconnects
(Yep, it's me again)
We've worked around some minor glitches and now have a pair of nodes
happily sharing an OCFS volume. I was wondering, though, if it was possible
to configure a second private IP address so that the nodes could communicate
over more than one Gigabit Ethernet connection.
Our RAC books and online docs make some vague references to multiple
interconnects, but I have yet

Disappointing Performance Using 9i RAC with OCFS on Linux
Wim,
Thanks for your prompt response on this. The tpmC figures look very
impressive, and tpmC is read intensive.
I had already read note 236679.1 "Comparing Performance Between RAW IO
vs OCFS vs EXT2/3" which I guess is the article to which you are
referring; it made me suspect that the poor performance was due to the
lack of an OS IO cache but I wasn't sure.

Wim,
The patch description on Metalink says:

Which wasn't quite what I was expecting.

Oracle 9i RAC on OCFS2
Hi,
I'm setting up a 2-node Oracle 9i RAC on OCFS2.
But I have some problems with understanding how the shared Oracle_Home
is being used.
For instance there is the *$ORACLE_HOME/oracm/admin/cmcfg.ora* file. The
$ORACLE_HOME is on
the SAN so the 2 nodes have access to this file. How will the settings
then be done per node?
Is there a guide/tutorial/howto for installing Oracle 9i RAC on
